Ok, first off...

Never did I think Barry would show up let alone get a TV show. And I pretty much love the blueprint they have in regards to introducing him. Just Barry first, rather than straight up speedster. I'm really looking forward to this as well as how they'll make his powers look. "He will be The Flash." Glad we're getting the real deal.

Plus, the movie still looks to be happening. So it's a win/win.

Except if you're a WW fan. Seriously, what is WB's problem with her? She keeps getting pushed aside in favor of other, conveniently male, characters. Still, Barry is cool and I'm interested in who will play him.

I wonder what WB's plan are. I wonder if they're wondering the same thing. :o

If they don't make a Flash film, I could see them reconsidering tying the small & big screen DCCU together. As long as the Flash tv series does well. I mean didn't the people behind Arrow say "No super-powers allowed" ? If WB/People behind Arrow reconsidered this, it's possible they are for other things.

Of course all they have said is it's going to be Barry Allen on the show. Not The Flash, so technically no super-powers on Arrow. Although I highly doubt they could resist putting The Flash in an episode later down the road.

They already said exactly that would happen. He's going to be a forensic scientist in episode 8 and 9 and his origin occurs in episode 20, he's going to be The Flash and open the floodgates to superpowers.

Good deal, I can dig this. I guess I need to get caught up on Arrow. I'll be waiting for the Blu Ray release. :woot:

Also, this is conclusive proof that the Flash is in fact faster than Quiksilver. Twice. :cwink:

I picture Flash moving like Faora did during the Smallville fight in MOS, just faster and continuous.

If superpowers can exist, then so can Lazarus Pits...

I see you coming from a MILE away, Malcolm Merlyn. :o

Agreed! I saw that mentioned on another site, didn't even cross my mind while watching Faora in battle (Probably because I was watching Faora :hrt::wow: )

The way the Flash uses speed should look and work differently than they do with Faora or any other krypotonian. I always thought the speed force was a pretty cool concept and I hope they can use that in a fresh but familiar way.

From his perspective, sure it could look different. But to the outside observer, I think it resembling MOS speed makes sense.

At the moment, I'm cautiously curious by the Flash news and its implications for the show (namely, superpowers). I wonder what brought on the decision - was it their own idea or is DC/WB/CW pressuring them to do it?

Another thing I'm worried about is its tonal shift (from semi-realistic to outright modern fantasy) and how the audience will react to it. Will they for the most part like it or at least be indifferent about it? I ask this because the viewer was not looking for superpowered heroes when they first started watching the show and some may even be usually averse to that genre. Would they then stay or will they leave? If the latter, how many?

I think Arrow should keep superpowers as a somewhat rare occurrence. Then the CW can have Flash and even that Amazon show be all about superpowers and the supernatural, and Arrow can stay focused on the street level thugs.

Well, yeah, I don't want Star (hope they drop the -ling eventually) City to suddenly be crawling with metahumans.

I wonder why Amazon is on pause. If the WB is chicken **** scared of doing a big screen Universe. Then small screen is the next best thing. Let Superman & Batman have the movies. Everyone else on the small screen. For the WB actually owning all of the characters unlike MARVEL. They REALLY REALLY SUCK

The reason WW keeps getting screwed over is simple, she doesn't have a penis. As for the Black Canary news, when Oliver finds out about that, he's going to flip his lid.

I wonder why they recasted as well. I doubt the original actress is that bsuy. Unless the character gets a face change

The Flash Will Feature His Red Suit in New Series

Details continue to roll in about The CW's proposed TV series based on DC Comic's hero The Flash. We know that the character is set to be introduced in the upcoming season of "Arrow" and could spin-off from there into his own series. Now, writers Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, have revealed even more details about the show.

"When we first meet Barry Allen, he's just a forensic scientist … an ordinary man," Kreisberg said. "Part of the fun for the audience … is to see how we view our Arrow take on the Flash legacy. Some of it will feel very familiar to DC Comics, some of it hopefully will feel different, fresh and exciting. The same way we approached Arrow is the same way we're approaching Barry."

The pair revealed that in addition to appearing in the 8th and 9th episodes of "Arrow," episode 20 in the new season will function as a "backdoor pilot" for the series and will focus primarily on Barry Allen.

The biggest surprise with this announcement has been that "Arrow" appears to be straying from their "No super powers" model that they adhered to for the first season. Kreisberg added, "There will be extraordinary events in the world and the characters will react in the same way."

Before you begin to type out that comment about how The Flash won't ever actually be in his costume and never be called "The Flash," Kreisberg says you have nothing to worry about. "No sweat suits or strange code names; he will be The Flash."

Don't know how to feel about this. I don't think that TV budgets can do justice to the special effects needed to portray Flash's super speed. TV is really more suited for street level heroes like Green Arrow, so I would rather that Flash had his rumored movie in 2016 instead. (What happens to that now BTW?)

Um, they had a Flash show in the 90's that did just fine. Technology has advanced since then.
