I'm concerned about Oliver and Merlyn being enemies over Dinah that would be similar to Clark and Lex being enemies over Lana in Smallville.

I'm not a fan of that angle either. I'd like to see Merlyn be developed outside of the Ollie/Dinah/Merlyn triangle and have his (potential) villainy be rooted in something else, something more meaningful.

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally despise all rivalries or antagonistic relationships that are a result of the two disputing individuals fighting over a lover interest. I mean, can you guys imagine on how much hell a showrunner would receive if they did something like establishing that the reason why Joker and Batman are enemies is because the Joker was in love with Talia/Selina?

Paul Blackthorne is two years younger than Barrowman, but he's supposed to be the father of Laurel who is the same age as Tommy and Oliver.

I personally don't think she would work as Black Canary. What I would've personally done is that I would've made Laurel an original character and then I would've brought in the real Dinah/Black Canary later on in the series.


Just watched the 5th episode. Best episode so far and by far. This episode took a major step up in the right direction. Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed but Oliver didn't kill a single person on screen during the very last fight and even used trick arrows. Also keep in mind that the whole theme behind episode 4 was the theme of murder and had Ollie being criticized by several people (Diggle, Laurel, Det. Lance) for the fact that he kills people. So I think it is fair to assume that he has quit killing . We also know from the description of episode 6 that was released a few weeks back that the next episode will be about Oliver being convinced by Diggle to expand his mission and help people that need him in general as opposed to just targeting the people on the list.

He is officially the Green Arrow that I love in my eyes now. He may not be exactly like the Green Arrow of the comics but I do think that now that he stopped killing people, is using trick arrows, and will bring justice wherever it is needed in his city as opposed to just focusing on the list, he has the same heart and intentions as the Green Arrow from the comics. So he is at least the Green Arrow of the comics in "spirit" IMO even if he doesn't have the jokey personality. All that is left now for him is to become more political and show his liberal side more. However, since he just got back and is currently in his rookie career as Green Arrow, I don't have a problem with it and I think it's ok for him to not fully be political yet, even by the end of season 1. Plus, they are starting to hint at his liberal persona. An example would be in the Deadshot episode where he wanted to open a nightclub in one of the worst neighborhoods of the city in order to rectify it. That sounds exactly like something Oliver Queen would do.

A big congrats to this show so far and especially on this episode. The show turned out far better than I expected it to be and definitely more intelligent than I expected it to be.

I'm actually fine with the face paint. Whenever people see a picture of Robin, they always ask the same question. "How does such a small mask keep people from recognizing him?" I think the face paint and domino mask afford about the same amount of ID protection. And at least Ollie has the hood.

Ditto. I'm not a fan of domino masks by themselves in live action. Looks silly &I can only tolerate it in cartoons or a period piece

I don't know why but sometimes watching this I get a vibe of that 'the cape' tv series that run for a bit.

I'm glad I don't get that vibe. The Cape was horrible, almost as bad as Birds of Prey. I love this show.

Wasn't a big fan of the last episode, but it was okay. It did do a lot to advance the story.

Probably my favorite ep so far. It was the best written anyway. It didn't feel like a rehash of previous subjects and both the season and characters feel like they're moving on. I feel like some momentum is finally being gained. Mia seems comfortable with Ollie, Diggle has settled into his sidekick role, Dinah is finally beginning to get past her issues with Ollie and her sister, and even Det. Lance may be on the road to treating Oliver like a human being now that he's not confusing him with Arrow (not to mention the firm talking to that his daughter gave him). This coupled with Deathstroke being a badass made this my favorite episode.

The show may be borderline nothing like the comics (okay, so it IS nothing like the comics) but it's fun to watch in it's own right and is a very entertaining take on the character set in a completely different universe. I cannot wait to see Deathstroke return with a larger role. He's the one villain to not disappoint me so far (Probably because he said nothing). That arrow catch and following fight was awesome.

So Colin Salmon going off to Australia was the explanation they gave for why he was missing a number of shows (while doing Strictly Come Dancing, which he was voted out of last week) rather than being killed off. I thought he might've met a sticky end like the head of security. I guess he might come back now since his SCD stint didn't last very long.

Did Ollie kill the guy at the end of the episode? Did he go back to his old ways?

I didn't know he was on Strictly, but with seeing his name at the start of the episode alongside the words "special guest appearance" I kind of thought he wasn't going to be a permanent part of the show and would possibly be killed off. Hopefully he comes back and they don't kill him off as I like his character and wouldn't mind seeing more of him.

On another note, I'm glad that this show gave Oliver more than three arrows to have in his arsenal when he's out doing his thing. I hated how SV would only have their GA literally carry only three arrows in his back and expect people to think that he could efficiently fight crime with just three long arrows.
