Just wondering...whats the fighting style of Oliver/Arrow and Yao Fei? I thought initially it was capoeira, but now beginning to think it may be Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Is it some Brazilian martial arts?

Being as Yao Fei is Chinese I have my doubts it would be any Brazilian style. More over, the island is in the South China Sea. It's definitely some wushu derivative.

So I rarely venture out of the Superman boards but I've really been enjoying Arrow (especially episode 5 "Damaged") and figured I'd try to join a new conversation.

I've always been intrigued by Green Arrow but have yet to really delve into his character and one thing that crops up every time I watch the show is my girlfriend saying, "So he's pretty much Batman." Now seeing as I don't know much about the character, I don't have much of answer for her.

How you would guys answer that question?

Watching episode 4 here in the UK... and WOW... this show just screams BATMAN.

It literally just makes me want to watch something Batman related.

Green Arrow basically became a ripoff of Batman. But he eventually became very far removed from Batman, co-starring in Green Lantern and grounding him to the real world. He also developed a liberal political stance and became very outspoken about it. He lost his fortune and basically became an "urban hunter".

This show however is very much in the mould of Batman Begins and is very reminiscent of it. Oliver, as of yet displays more of Bruce Wayne's personality than Oliver Queen's, except the acceptance of death.

I wonder if they will ever get to the liberal stance you mentioned. I read an interview with Amell where he was asked about Arrow being liberal and he said that Oliver holds no political point of view.

The thing about TV is that it allows you to develop characters over time. I very much doubt that Oliver will be the same person he is right now five years down the line, should the series last that long.

I concur Ollie in 5yrs went from a rich celeb known for his run in with the law to the Arrow . In 5 more years whose to say what kind of person he might be but for right now dude kicking major ass.

Well for some Repubs and Tea Partiers not having any political view would be considered pretty liberal lol.

This series the potential to go in a variety of directions with a lot of characters. My only hope is that it breaks the mold of WB/CW shoes and isn't afraid to push the envelope the way Buffy, Angel, Popular and a few others have done with their characters and stories.

I could see them going with this costume if and when deadshot comes back to the show.

I doubt it went through his head. I bet the eye-piece slowed the arrow down, probably gouged his eye out. Then he comes back with a cybernetic eye.

They're not going to bring in a known character like Deadshot, use him for all of 10 minutes, then kill him. If they're not going to do that with China White, they sure aren't doing it with him.

Given the length of the arrow, it certainly looked like it penetrated his head to me.

Yes people have survived worse, with severe brain damage.

And, when asked about his fate, one of the producers said "Well, I didn't see a body bag."

As said, the eyepiece is thick. I'm pretty sure MOST fanboys watching it jumped to him returning with a cybernetic eye or something those lines. This series, while introducing many key villains early on, we'll probably get a chance to see some of these villains evolve as well. In the comics we see that China White is going to come back stronger and better and I'm willing to bet the same plan is in motion for all these villains. It's the first season, the seeds are just being planted.

And yeah, that ARKHAM CITY design for Deadshot is just awful.

It looks much more comic booky than it needs to. The original comics look for Deadshot is literally one of the most simple, straight-forward costumes in comics, and that's why it works.
