While Oliver prepares for battle with Slade, Lyla asks Diggle to go on a mission alongside the Suicide Squad, a team assembled by Amanda Waller to undertake high-risk missions, even though the team includes Diggle's nemesis, Deadshot, and old enemies Bronze Tiger and Shrapnel.

Okay, I have to admit, I could actually see them introducing Harley Quinn here. The fingernails aren't the tip, but the pigtailed look is. And if they did have permission to use Nightwing (still very much a rumor, albeit one with some substantiation), then letting the audience know that the Joker's girlfriend exists would pretty much announce they can get the Batclan themselves.

I'm of the opinion you don't use Harley without Mr J.(B:TAS sometimes used her with Ivy to mixed results) So if that really is Harls,I'm not sure what to think.

I think the better the show does the more stuff they let them use.

Too bad we have to wait two weeks for this.

They already use Harley in the comics without the Joker. She's got her own book and she's a member of the Suicide Squad. Besides, her delightful brand of bats**t insanity would be really fun to see onscreen.

I'm fine with them using Harley as long as she's exclusive to the Suicide Squad. But if she shows up in Starling City as a regular and joins Oliver's rogues' gallery, then that's a different story.

i prefer pre 52 suicide squad members

Yeah I think this is important for people to realize. They've been transitioning Harley into a character that can stand on her own for awhile now, she's no longer attached to the hip of Joker and this would be another step in establishing the character's own identity in people's psyche.

I do agree that they should keep her strictly as a Suicide Squad thing though and not have her become an active member of Arrow's gallery unless they have very good justification.

Arrow 2x16 Extended Promo

[YT]aanHhSUJ7eY[/YT]Looking forward to the scenes with Digg and Deadshot. I have watched the trailer twice and don't see anyone who might be Harley.

She only seems to be in the shorter one.

At about 6 seconds in.

re: What Lyla says

Starting to get annoying that it seems like there are more regular and recurring characters that know Oliver is Arrow than there are characters that don't know. Them knowing Sara is Canary I don't really have a problem with. Canary has been seen with Arrow multiple times and Sara has publicly returned. I'd hope A.R.G.U.S would be able to put 1 & 1 together.

Shrapnels gotta be the least intimidating villain on this show

how do people feel about this interpretation of Waller?

Hmm... Well, given the the role each character plays in Ollie's life, I have no problem with how people know who he is. Though, with the recurring characters I can understand Lyla and ARGUS knowing about it since they aren't idiots and what went down with saving Lyla. Though, I wonder if Deadshot knows.

I still think he would've made a better Firefly than what they gave us.

I like my Waller thick. :cwink:

Considering that comic-shrapnel would have been ridiculous for them to create, I actually enjoy the idea of him being an anarchist, and I do get a kick out of Simon Tamm going nuts and spouting anti-government stuff.

And I'm liking how Tiger seems the most serious and professional while Deadshot still seems to be enjoying his role as Diggle's personal adversary he just can't get rid of. This three man set up for the Squad actually seems pretty nice; three distinct and quirky characters with different MOs and motivations clearly working under coercion.

I'm still thinking that of HQ shows up they'll reveal that she and Deadshot both got caught by some Batman affiliate.

I hate to say it, but I've been keeping up with the clips from this episode and the actress playing Amanda Waller is really bad. Her voice is unnatural and the way she dramatically spaces out her lines is textbook overacting. Usually the shows acting is fine, but this Amanda Waller actress is really noticeable, definitely close to some of the worst acting on the entire series.

Yet he has the capability to kill and injure hundreds to thousands of people.
Okay? That's the writing not the actor. My problems are with the actor, he's not intimidating as a villain.

I usually don't complain about acting on this show, but Shrapnel and Waller aren't impressing me. There is a pretty high standard that has been set, the acting on this show is usually pretty solid.

Yeah Cynthia (Waller) has not been impressive at all. I don't know if the problem is she's trying to be way too enigmatic or what the deal is. She's below the (low IMO) threshold for acting on the show.

Yep you nailed it. Her acting is definitely below everyone else on the show.

She's trying to be enigmatic and fails. She's overacting.

CCH Pounder (who voiced Waller on JLU) would've been an infinitely better choice.

Wasn't Cynthia some action star on Spartacus with Manu? I don't know why they give the role of an enigmatic bureaucrat to her unless she's also supposed to be an action star on Arrow. Which is sort of what I dread waiting around for her to give some s****y reveal that nobody will care about ("It was me and my red heels behind Fyers on the island not Isabel!") and fight Oliver and Sara or something. lol

So you're talking about him being physically intimidating. Well that's why he is a serial bomber. His intimidation is him blowing stuff up not looking like he could take out guys with his bare hands

Not to gang up on the Amanda Waller actress before she's had too much time to grow on the show, but my god, the delivery of the line 'This is a dangerous...operation' is so cringe worthy I don't know why they went with it. It sounds like either she's forgotten her line and stalling until she remembers it, or is really bad at the whole dramatic effect delivery.

Certainly isn't going to spoil my enjoyment of the episode though :word:

Agreed. Moreover, I don't think the character is intentionally meant not to be physically intimidating; which feels more the remit of Bronze Tiger and (to a lesser degree) Deadshot. Working with the Five-Man Band breakdown, the characters' roles are likely to be somewhere along the lines of:

Diggles - The Leader
Deadshot - The Lancer (the one who serves as the foil to The Leader)
Bronze Tiger - The Big Guy (the "muscle" of the group)
Shrapnel - The Smart Guy (brains over brawn; tends to be somewhat nerdy and/or awkward)
Lyla - The Chick (the peacekeeper of the group who keeps the others' contrasting personalities from causing the team to implode)
