Ask Your Nerd Trivia Questions! - Part 1

If no one gets it I'll post a picture of the original design.

Who is Spider-Man's secret identity?

Which Spider-Man? There's only a billion or so. Have you seen Spider-Verse? They have everyone from the 60's cartoon to Spider-Gwen to clones of clones and every single variation of Spider-Man they could put in.

So, I was watching Geeks Who Drink the other night and the one game was called Hulk or Thing. The host would read a clue and the teams had to say if it referred to The Hulk or The Thing.

Now, here's the fun part...

The clue was, "Was in The Fantastic Four." The one team replied with The Thing and was told they were correct. My question is, why were they, in fact, wrong?

Back in 1990, we were treated to a new line up for the Fantastic Four. It consisted of Wolverine, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and The Hulk (grey version).

I did not watch the episode you mentioned, or the show, couldn't know how or why they were wrong. :p

Creator of Flash Gordon and Sam Spade together created a comic stip character.
Name the 2 creators and their comicstrip character?

Originally what "color" was the Phantoms uniform?
Based on that what name did Falk almost give his creation?

What famous actor/director first played the Lamont Cranston incarnation of the shadow.

What two radio pulp era heroes are related?
How?

Before Batman what hero was inspired by a bat flying in through his window?
What other Batman inspiring hero did the author of the above famously create?

Before Superman what pulp hero had a secret hide out called the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic?
What famous building did he have an office in?
Bonus Q: On what floor?

Wow... Off the top of my head these are difficult.

Big Pappa Orson Welles played THE SHADOW on radio.

I believe that the Lone Ranger and The Green Hornet are related, but I forget how exactly. I don't think it's that the Ranger is like Hornet's grandfather or great grandpa, I think it might be as a great uncle but again, not sure.

It was gray, but printing or coloring mistake made it purple.
And I think the character was named after Phantom of the Opera.

Correct, the Shadow as narrator had been played by several others before, but the Shadow as protagonist, actual character Lamont Cranston was first played by Welles.

Correct.

Among the Rangers killed during the ambush at Bryant's Gap, is Lone Ranger's brother who leaves behind a wife and son.
This boy ( the Lone Rangers nephew) becomes somewhat of a sidekick to the Lone Ranger.
It is his son, who would eventually become the Green Hornet.

Somewhat correct. It was gray.
This was not a printing error, the first comics were all in Black & White, and within them Falk always refers to the costume as gray.

Falk even considered naming the character The Gray Ghost.
The color purple , was added only when they expanded to the Sunday color strips. And the editors wanted him to have a color other than gray.
No errors, from then on he was purple.
At least in American comics.
Other nations who were circulating the dailies, sometimes chose their own colors to adapt the costume.
Hence in International Phantom prints, you often see Red, Blue, sometimes Green clad Phantom. everyone chose their own.

I wonder if that is where the idea to name Adam West's Gray Ghost character from B:TAS came from?

Yep, it was apparently an homage to the Phantom.
I was going to add it as a follow-up question, :)

And now for something a bit more recent than 1930's pop culture. :o

What was the original line in Aliens where Bill Paxton (Hudson) says "Game over man. Game over" before he ad-libbed the game over part?
