Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 6

I love the finale , but there are like three deus ex machinas in a row. First a giant turtle comes out of nowhere to give him life advice, then the rock thing, which remains the worst @sspull of both series, and then out of nowhere again he can energybend.

The first and third are answered in the Wan episode.

For the second, Roku said the Avatar State was a defense mechanism. The rock hitting his scar triggered it. The only person who said Aang could never enter the Avatar state was Guru Pahtik; he was simply wrong.

If you want a real deus ex, go watch the acid trip that is Korra season 2 finale.

Retroactive explanations do not undo them being deus ex machinas. The fact that later episodes of a sequel series made five years later had to explain away the Lion Turtle appearances and existence of energybending only show how much deus ex machina they were.

Furthermore, we know that the Avatar State is a defence mechanism, but a key plot point in season 3 is that Aang is blocked to it. It is mentioned frequently and pointedly. The resolution for which comes out of nowhere. Hence, deus ex machina.

Ozai caused Aang to fly back and have a rock hit the spot where Azula hit Aang. The impression you get is that hitting that spot unblocked Aang's chakra.

During the fight, Aang had hit a rock protruding from the side of a wall. I assume it was a pressure point that unlocked a chakra that prevented. It was also the spot where Azula shot him with the lightning.

Thank you for the responses. Hitting that 'pressure point' of a wound that intially blocked his avatar state would again reopen his power does make sense. Kind of like in a story when someone gets a bump on the head and loses their memory and then another bump restores it. Not an entirely bad idea however I thought there might be something more to it, maybe something I had missed in a previous episode.

Have y'all seen Artgerm's Zhu Li?

Man, I love his stuff.

I just learned that the voice actress for Zhu Li also did the voice acting for the English dub of "Ernest and Celestine". Great film! And I'm proud that an Asian
American got the role!

I want to rip some music from the show, what programs to people usually use for that?

Hey everyone!

Thought I'd show you something cool that involves my Avatar: Spirit of Earth story. It's something a long time coming, and you might want one for yourself! Check it out via the video link below!

Korra won for Best Animated TV Series of 2014 on IGN :)

I hate IGN..... Believing them is like believing the How I Met Your Mother finale was actually any good.

I'm currently taking a break from the Avatar series before I actually go back into the Legend of Korra series; due the drama that's been happening.

Korra won for Best Animated TV Series of 2014 on IGN :)

it also won ign's people's choice awards for best tv series, best animated series and best tv episode (korra alone).

Hard to believe it's been ten years. So much has happened since it premiered.

As for this piece, I used and modified Emily Tetri's production painting of Harmony Tower (designed by Lee Jung-Su). Otherwise, I drew and painted the rest of it. I based the turtle-duck boats on the charming swan boats I saw while visiting Ueno Park in Tokyo.

I know right? It is truly a classic, and a great series. I just hope this isn't the end! I WANT MORE AVATAR!!!!

Free poster in the Book 4 Blu-ray/DVD that was just released. Nice surprise. :)

Don't know if you guys saw this, but they did a Death Battle featuring Toph. In it, they explain something I know we've debated here on the forum.

Apparently, Toph can sense the earth around her, even if it is not on the ground. Which explains certain battles and situations where she owned like a boss despite not being on the ground.

You can see the full thing here. It's an 8-bit fight, but it still has merit. Enjoy!

That was entertaining and I never new Toph had a duel w/ King Bumi.
