AvX will suck unless at the end of it, cyclops saves the day//fanboy

That would violate the golden rule of Marvel - only Wolverine can overcome his flaws enough to save the day when it counts.

Eh, I don't know. During most of the X-Men events over the recent years, Wolverine has hardly done anything near the conclusion. He rescued Chuck during Utopia, but that was a group victory spearheaded by Scotty, and even Dani Moonstar had a more glorious climactic scene than Logan. Hope and Cable saved the day during Second Coming. Of all people, Mystique took out the bad guy in Messiah Complex.

I don't remember how Necrosha ended, though. Who the hell beat Selene?

Wow. As a Thor fan this event is a painful read. Its like every issue of the main series and the different tie-ins, Thor is gettting his ass whipped. Why? [BLACKOUT]Seeing Beast carrying a beaten Thor on his back like a sad sack while they retreat is just sad. [/BLACKOUT] I hope for a big payoff in the end with Thor as a big contributor ending this war instead of Cyke.

At this point I have no hope of Thor rebounding in this epic fail of a story.

That was the worst issue so far. I've defended this event before, but I think I'm almost done with it.

I still am not sure why the avengers wanted to abduct hope in the first place....

They thought they could keep her from bonding with the Phoenix Force but in the process created an even bigger mess....

To prevent her from turning into what the Phoenix 5 eventually became.

After this past issue all that's left is Emma and Scott which sets up those 2 fighting it out for all the power (kinda like Highlander, there can only be one). I expect Scott to kill Emma and Jean to come down and take Emma with her back to the White Room or where ever the hell she's been.

Actually I think it would be anticlimatic if Hope doesnt bond with the PF. They've been building her up as this major gamechanger and one of the most powerful mutants for years only to have nothing happen with her this event? Lame. She's had a connection to the PF since she was born. It would be a dissapointment if they STILL dont answer the questions surrounding her origins

Jean and Emma cat-fighting in the White Room would be more entertaining than this stupid event.

Which would be the cherry on the top of this lousy event.

So they thought that her bonding with the phoenix force would cause the end of the world. Gotcha. Extremely rational.

I'm sure Emma's probably going to be killed/coma'd/sacrifice herself somehow. The most interesting aspect of this event in my eyes is going to be the fall out in terms of Hope and where the x-men stand in terms of unity. At the end of schism I was convinced there was this uneasy truce btw scott and logan....since then we've gotten "KILL YOUUU SUMMEEERZZZZ"

When I close my eyes I can see the image of Emma's death in AvX 12 and it mirroring and being an homage to Jean's death in UXM #137.

I bet when there's only one member of the Phoenix 5 and things look bleak, Hope will just walk up to [Scott or Emma] and just snatch the Phoenix Force from them, which she'll be in complete control of because it was meant to be hers in the first place.

From a writign standpoint, it would be more creative to kill Scott off then Emma. I think it would be a fitting end to his character arc since his return almost 10 years ago, and especially since the move to SF. I thought he should have made the sacrifice in SC, but I can see it now in AvX. I can see him defeating Emma and taking all the Phoenix power for himself and then sacrificing himself so that mutantkind can live on. Its what he's been spending the last several years fighting for and no one has been more passionate about mutantkind's future than him. It would be fitting for him to lay down his life to ensure their survival. Jean can come at the end, to take the rogue Phoenix power and fix it, taking Scott's soul with her to the WHR following his mortal death on Earth. I could go for that.

that could work too

I think there's more storyline opportunity in Scott being alive after AvX and out of power in the mutant community. If the opposite happens and Scott dies while Emma lives, she's not gonna have any allies on her side. Most mutants on Utopia would probably pack up and move back to the school.

Not really. Storm, Magneto and Psylocke are already gearing up to take over and people trust Storm. Scott gone doesnt mean Emma's gonna run the show

That's my point, she becomes worthless without Scott. Scott would be more interesting if he had to do things by himself. It worked for Xavier when he was cast out by Scott years ago.

There's always the chance that Emma could go back to being a villian or more of an anti-hero without Scott around to help ground her. This arc has reawakened a dark side to her, one that she might find she actually prefers. She could decide she's done with being an X-man and strike out on her own. And/or they could stick her with Namor and build them up as a force to be reckoned with. I really think they've done all they can with Scott for now. They've really exhausted him.

i always liked scott and emma together. they are stronger characters when they play off each other, but i get the feeling this may end badly for them.

ETA: Scratch that. Apparently that was an old image of an old comic I didnt read that someone attached to the Sept solicits

Maybe this has been said before, but I have only read the last few pages. This event doesn't at all feel like Avengers vs X-Men anymore. It has become Avengers vs The Phoenix. I feel like more and more X-Men are going to be on the side of the Avengers in this fight by the time it ends. I think this story would've been a lot better without the "Phoenix Five" aspect (although Spider-Man's interaction with Colossus in #9 was good) because it has made the "X-Men" the bad guys of the story, when it really should've been a lot more unclear about who was in the right and who was in the wrong (even Civil War did a better job of this).
