FRACTION: In order for us to put in as little effort as possible, let's just rehash Civil War!

AARON: But won't people notice?

BENDIS: Let's just have the Avengers fight the X-Men, that will make it different enough.

MARVEL EDITORIAL: Perfect!

:funny:

not sure this has been done anywhere(doubtiful) but it would be cool to explore Scott's ability to control the pheonix due to his connection to Jean and him trying for years to control his own optic blast. But that would require you know actully researching the character.

These are the same people who had Rouge lose control of her powers because she absorbed She-Hulk inner rage. What inner rage? She-Hulk isn't Bruce, her issue was repressed sexuality, the only time she's had rage issues  was in a craptastic story a few years back where she destroyed the Vision. If Rouge did lose control, she should have started having lost of sex.

I admit I haven't read the issue, just the summery on Wiki. I hope I'm not way off, but the characterization does sound like Civil War all over again.

Was it revealed in one of the tie-ins what happened to Namor after he lost his share of the Phoenix Force? Did the X-Men pick him up? Did the Avengers put him in jail? Maybe he went back to the ocean? Just curious seeing as Black Panther said he would see Namor dead for the attack and at the end of #8, Namor was right there at his feet.

God forbid anything actually interesting happen in this event.

That'll probably be part of the next event or it'll happen during the Marvel NOW AvX fallout issues.

There wasn't a lot of story in that issue. Twelve issues is definitely overkill.

What I want out of this event:
- Hope explained (preferably a connection to Jean Grey)
- Mutants re-powered as a direct result of Cyclops' actions.

Cyclops should be responsible for the restoration of mutants, but he should recognize that he placed the survival of mutants over the entire planet, and resign from leadership of the X-men and maybe have a mini-series where we see him have a new role. But I want the X-men to see him as a hero and not a villain, because he actually has sacrificed so much for everyone.

But at this point I'm doubtful that anything will happen. Hope will be just as ambiguous as ever, and Cyclops will look like the worst X-leader of all time, and Wolverine will be a super awesome and peaceful leader (which doesn't make any sense).

Well, Scott did fire the opening shot of the war, like Nitro? did in Civil War.

In fairness, his shot didn't result in the destruction of a town and the deaths of hundreds of people.

So it's looking like the whole point of schism and avx was to remove Scott from leadership to place wolverine and the avengers in charge of the x-men.......awesome.

Cyclops ties Thor's shoelaces together....it's like he's not even trying anymore. :(

Maybe Thor is getting jobbed because he doesnt want to be in this crappy event anymore.

Thor was smart. He decided it would be better to get jobbed out in battle than have his character horribly raped and destroyed. :o

at this point, Im not sure if theres much of a difference

Somehow I don't see Cyclops resigning from leadership. I see him stubbornly hanging on, refusing to recognize that his actions placed mutants and humans alike in grave danger.

There this no difference.

What makes me angry is that atleast Cyclops is still trying to do what is best. We have Wolverine running around killing and with his own death squad which goes against the views of avengers and X-men alike, yet Cyclops is the bad guy. Its just stupid. I can deal with Cyclops taking time off and storm leading, but I am sick of Wolverine having to be leader and be in everything ever published by marvel.

Marvel Comics is run by two yes-men nowadays....Alonso and Brevoort. The company needs somebody with a little nut to bop these writers on the nose and tell them "NO" once in a while.

Alonso comes as no surprise, the signs were always there with that guy. He was editor on ASM when editorial interference and mandates were at an all time high.

Back when he was editor or Preacher he turned tail when DC nixed the release of a Preacher Special focusing on the characters of Bob and Freddie: Sex Investigators.

I'm loyal to marvel to a fault, but amen to this.

I am excited about some of the stuff coming out but soo many issues since Joe Q took over and now just as directionless with alonso, joe q's yes man.

I'm so tired of things being nix'd , botched, prematurely canceled, and the simple lack of regard for continuity (even within short time periods)

I was thinking marvel has a GOTG movie coming out ...but they have no f-ing cosmic books. They are making efforts to get back hollywood rights to SS and Big G but have no damn cosmic books.

I mean just thinking about "Captain Marvel" during this era makes me laugh.

Wtf IS THE plan??

I dont think there is a plan. I think they let their writers do whatever they want. Honestly does anyone think the best possible story for the X-men is to have the original team come forward in time????
This is the perfect time to right the ship and bring the X-men back to its core concept. Instead we get yet more time displaced mutants.
