I thought Schism was going to lead to good times for the X-books; and it did for a while, we got WaTXM out of it, but what the F is even going on with Cyclops?

AvX is trending on twitter and there's tons of media covering the story. I suppose that's always good for business, regardless of whether the stories suck or not. :o

Uncanny this week should be required reading after AvX11. Gillen is awesome.

Yeah, Cyclops ain't digging his way out of this hole. He's screwed himself over big time.

Addressing skeptics who might think that Professor X is bound for a swift return like so many comic book characters before, Marvel senior vice president of publishing Tom Brevoort is quoted in the story as saying, "this is about as serious and lasting a death as you're apt to get in one of these."

Did anyone else reading this get reminded of us being told Cap is dead and he is NOT coming back?

It's not so much that death is cheap, but it's who actually performed the killing blow.

I mean even if I killed someone I loved and they came back to life later, the fact remains that I still did it. That's almost like Spider-Man going nuts and murdering Aunt May.

I am not a conspiracy nut but I swear Marvel are trying to run Cyclops into the ground so that they can kill him off for good and have Wolverine run all the X-Men.

They are half way there by having Wolverine lead half of them and turning alot of the fanbase against Cyclops.

I would actually pay to see that :)

Yeah, the X3 connection is......interesting.

I doubt they are going to kill Cyclops; otherwise, bringing Jean Grey back (even if it a time-traveling one,) is illogical. I think it is a given Cyclops and Emma's relationship is going to be over after this event, and the return of Jean speaks the obvious.

If not from the actions of this event, the new editorial policy will ensure that by the end of next year, every marriage in the universe will be dissolved or written out of existance (Mephisto better start copying some pre-written contracts, haha.)

Also, the person who died in AVX # 11 will return.

This is off-topic, but, I really wish Marvel would bring Janet van Dyne back. I was thinking about the death in # 11, and realized how much it irks me that she has not been brought back.

you can never please everyone. People complain that characters die and dont stay dead, but then some complain that some characters actually stay dead for a while. And then tons of people complained when daredevil went back to being a hero after shadowland, and now people are complaining about cyclops having a fall from grace and being crazy. Jeez louise

I work 9-5. Went to the comic shop during lunch (as is my usual Wednesday activity) an came back to work. Made a conscious effort to avoid spoilers in this thread and other comic websites all day. Was casually browsing yahoo news when an AP article titled [BLACKOUT]"Professor X Dead after 70 years of Leading the X-men"[/BLACKOUT] is in the news links. AVX #11 is currently sitting on the passenger seat of my car in the parking garage.

Way to ruin eveything, AP. Seriously though, f*** the media.

I was confused at the number of years. Didn't stop to think it meant the character's age, and not years of publication.

It sounds like I'm the only one who didn't hate this issue.

*I may have inadvertedly gotten myself banned from these boards just now... :ninja:
