Oh man, you really should have put that in spoilers. Oh well, it looks more like another tease; not actual confirmation of anything

Nothing's confirmed with it. HERE'S the CBR link talking about it.

And God I hope that's true. Issue 11's solicitation says fatality so I'm hoping that's Emma and Jean comes back. I'd love to see her set Scott back on the right path, even if they don't end up together.

So, the more important question is, what's that behind her?

Why's she in her old-school Marvel Girl costume?

Anyway, I don't really have any feelings on Jean's return either way. The X-Men were getting along fine without her, but I'm not particularly averse to her coming back.

I don't think it makes sense for her to stay dead. I know Emma and Scott have gotten the big comic book push in the last decade, but Jean is still prominent in media outside of the comics, like video games and cartoons. Why would Marvel want Jean represented anywhere if they just want her dead and forgotten.

And you could argue that the X-men weren't fine without her, as the period since she's been dead has been one of the worse times for them. I hope this is real, and not a tease.

It hasn't been related to her death, though. I doubt Jean would've somehow stopped the Scarlet Witch from removing the mutations from a large percentage of the mutant race. Granted, she might have stopped Cyclops from descending as far into his militant extremism as he's gotten, but even that's suspect given the rather, um, indelicate way their relationship ended.

Here's the thing: If Jean hadn't died, I'm pretty sure she would've broken up with Scott and left him to Emma anyway. Their marriage had completely fallen apart by the time Xorn killed her. She'd probably be filling the role Hank is these days: the person who moans about Scott's actions and takes forever to do anything about them.

Re: that image
God, I hope it ends with the X-Men and Avengers beheading one another...

Meh, at least it'd save Hank from filling that position. It's really unfortunate what's happened to Hank at this point. :csad:

I dont think so. Things went downhill after she left and it hasnt felt quite the same since

I smell the next big alt universe event ala Marvel Zombies!

Possibly.....or after she returns in AvX, the writers will use this as an opportunity to separate her and the PF for good. That pic of her posing could be from the cover of a new X-title coming out of AvX. It could be for that Astonishing Uncanny Avengers book that Secret Avengers is rumored to become.

Jean and the Phoenix Force are too intertwined at this point to ever be completely separated. Someone, somewhere is gonna pitch something where she gets back with the Phoenix Force eventually and it'll get approved.

Lol, I wasn't serious, I was just joking off of what Manic said, saying Marvel should do their own version of Highlander.

Yeah, because the X-Men have never been involved in a story with alternate universes. :o

For me it hasn't so much been the plotlines that's hurt the X-Men but the feel of the title itself. It all started when Emma replaced Jean and that just wasn't a very good replacement at all. She does not in any way equal Jean in the X-Mythos and anything with her in it just takes away from that old feeling from day one through the Twelve storyline (when she and Scott still acted like she and Scott).

I love how so many people act like the X-Men comics would be so different if Jean hadn't died some years back. Like she wouldn't be some impotent complainer who only pops up for action panels and the odd one-liner. That's what happened to Beast, Professor X, and Nightcrawler right before he died. Remember when Shadowcat came back? She didn't voice her objections for a damn thing and just stayed in the background before getting shifted over to Wolverine's new book with everyone else. But surely Havok would have something to say, right? Not in any core X-Men comics, because he moved to X-Factor as soon as he came back. But what about Storm? She got upset, laughed, and continued to do nothing until someone needed to draw a spectacle in an action scene.

So please, by all means, I beg of you: get your hopes up that Jean's return will make things all better. You'll only disappoint yourselves.

And yet, just having her there will up the quality over anything Emma's added over the past decade.

p.s. one of these days I will actually read Atlantis Attacks.

You say that now, but wait until Jean starts behaving radically out of character.

Same here. Jean Grey has been one of my favorite X-Men back the days when I was reading X-Factor (Wilt Simonson's original run) and later UXM, and I always hate how Marvel keeps treating her by killing her off or make clones of her. I really hope she will return this time, even if it means that she'll kick Scott squarely on his behind for the kind of militant nonsense he has been doing for the last several years.

I'll never understand why Jean fans have to blame everything wrong with the X-Men books on Emma.

No the damage is already done. She wont fix the mess that Marvel has done with the X-lines and many of the characters since her death. Too bad as she'd have made the last several years at least a bit more bearable for me
