The Dark Knight Rises Batman 4?! Discuss!

The greatest movie since The Wickerman is about to drop and you guys are already thinking past it???

If he's not joking, he probably means the original, which is a damn good movie and I understand why it'd be an all-time favorite.

Although the Nic Cage remake is also a fantastic comedy.

Yeah, I forgot for a moment that there was an original.

The Nic Cage film was horrible... It wasn't even a comedy. You know these days when you see a movie so good that you can't stop thinking about? It's just... You feel happy for a day or two. Sometimes you don't even realize it was the movie. You find that out later.

The Nic Cage film was exactly the opposite for me... I regretted it so much. I just felt bad the whole day after.

I'm usually a very open-minded person, I often like even bad films, I'm trying to see the good things about them... But man, Wicker man was one of my worst movie experiences of all time.

No where near Dragonball: Evolution though... I wanted to commit suicide after seeing it. It was a painful torture.

So I hope this puts to rest anyone thinking Batman dies. The fact that he's even open to it means Batman isn't going to die

SOLVED!!!! :lmao:

Considering Showtime said that WB is/was trying to figure out a way to make either a Batman film or a Batman/Superman film that takes place in between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale saying this doesn't surprise me one bit.

Are you kidding me? Nicholas Cage's Wicker man is the greatest movie ever.

How could you forget classic scenes like this that rival The Godfather. :o

Superman in Nolan's Batverse leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
:(
A big agreed. Superman does have interesting contrasts to Batman but I prefer "my" Batman to be the only hero that exists in his universe, especially with the Nolanverse. Like, if super powered beings existed they would clean a situation up in no time. But they don't, so we have to resort to grit. The best thing for the franchise after TDKR is a reboot.

I don't think we'll see a 4 either. I think they may try to get Bale back, but I don't think it'll be the same series. I also don't think they'll cross Superman in unless they do a Batman/Superman movie or a JL movie, just like I don't think we'll ever see Thor fighting Red Skull in a Thor film, or Iron Man fighting Abomination in his films.

If there were to be a 4th one (and why not?) I would want the villians to be 'The Riddler' as the main villian threat (ala Scarecrow, Joker) and 'The Penguin' as the mob type threat (ala Falcone, Maroni)

I don't the Bale is saying he would want to do a 4th one, more like if Chris came to him and said 'I'm doing a 4th one, you in?' the only answer he could give is yes.

Aside from Nolan not wanting to do one, this whole thing/arc really seems structured to come to and end by the third film. I think we should appreciate that for its own completeness...and really the rarity of something like this actually coming to an end satisfyingly...instead of lamenting why it's not more like an ongoing serial or what have you. Also, we'll always be able to look back and celebrate this as an era that ended (hopefully) tidily on its own terms.

Continued sequels don't really bother me, I like having a long running series that builds 'the world' of the series and even if the later sequels are **** (ie forever, batman and robin) it doesn't stop the originals from being amazing and they might pull it off. 4 amazing movies is better than 3 amazing movies.

But that's not what these movies were out to recreate. And no, 4 is not better than 3 if 3 is the way the creators want it to be....just like an 8-miniute song is not inherently better than a 5-minute song if the song was written/arranged to be 5 minutes. Keeping it to three and not trying to stretch it more as an afterthought also shows good artistic taste in appreciating the aesthetic of closure on something. It's not that short, but it is sweeter. If three is what was intended, then most likely it's better to just keep it to three.

After July 20th I'm sure we'll all agree that this trilogy is best left as just that; a trilogy.
There's going to be an ending that sews this up into a tightly sealed package that will forever be the The Dark Knight Trilogy.

A reboot is a perfect opportunity to give another generation (with the Nolan generation included) a chance to have another separate series of more fantastical Batman films that will build on a larger set of rouges with quite a bit more attention to the detective side of the character.

A darker version of The Riddler, Hush, Penguin, Firefly and a solid Robin story are begging for film treatment.

I'm very annoyed at the tendency that everything is open-ended these days. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like certain movies will have an ending at all before they get rebooted...

Things need to have a proper ending, a proper closure. Sometimes people say "Oh, but it's not the ending that matters, it's the journey" - while that's right, it doesn't mean a certain story should not have an ending. These things can't go forever. Nolan and the cast are not forever tied to these films. No matter how much they love these characters, they can't be doing Batman movies forever. At one point, they have to end it, and as they all said, this is the right time for them to leave the franchise.

In so many forms of art, it's just as important to know when something's done and wrap it up as it is to have an open spring of imagination at the start...even if what you base it on can in theory can go on forever. You don't have to cover everything to 'have your say', if you will.

Yeah, absolutely. Nowadays, I rarely see good endings. I don't mean good as "happy", I mean satisfying endings. No matter if it's a TV shot, a movie, a game - most of the endings are rather dull.

in regards to the next Batman movie, i just hope it's a continuation of sorts to Nolan's films. by that i mean have an already more mature Batman and skip the origin. a flashback to his parents death or having it done in the opening credits like The Incredible Hulk did it would be the best way to go about it.

and hopefully we see the "freaks of nature" villains like Clayface, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Man-Bat, etc.

Yes. I so want them to skip the origin and just go right in to a Batman established.
