BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - - - Part 12

I've been reading through this thread and am blown away at how negative everyone has been toward this movie. The movie has only been in theaters for ten days and has already grossed nearly $700,000,000. Sure, it may not be the juggernaut that some people expected, but it's performing wonderfully. As for whether or not WB has already or will earn a profit from this movie considering that it cost $250,000,000 to produce and $150,000,000 to advertise, I'm assuming that they've nearly broken even at this point, because studios get a little more than 50% of the revenue for a movue in its first few weeks based on my research; so, WB probably has received a return of ~$370,000,000. So, apart from another $30,000,000 or so, they're close to making a profit. If anyone believes that WB was banking on the film to make $1 billion in order to make a profit, then they're either naive or ignorant; such a huge company such as WB has top-level financial analysts who would prevent WB from taking such a risk.

I predict that the film will crawl its way to $900,000,000 or more and will be a slight dissapointment but will still turn a profit.

Considering expectations from..well just about EVERYONE it's not performing 'wonderfully'.

So, how much money should it have made by now (i.e. ten days into its theatrical run) in order for it to not be considered a failure?

68 percent drop is definitely going to get someone called to the principal's office.

Just wait anyday now we are going to hear about a delay for the shooting of Justice League.

DC's best move would be to scrap justice league and make a play to adapt JLA vs AVENGERS. The only way they can make money would be to get in on Marvel money.

You do realize this film is still making more money than most Marvel films right?

It's not about how much the film makes, it's how much the studios profit.

Long term thinking says this movie sets them up to make profits over the next 6 years, not just a one year result.

I disagree. DC/WB at LEAST has realised the fans want some kind of history between the movies. I think that in itself might be a help. It would be easier than trying to make ONE huge JLA film and trying to cram all we've seen into one film. It will bring more box office in the long run. Thing is, you would think after such a great run with Harry Potter films they would have thought about this earlier

By the way, as long as Joe Q is at Marvel, the only way we'll see anything close to a JLA/Avengers is if Marvel has Supreme Squaron in a film with Avengers. They (DC) don't like Joey Q and have made it known

That was before we realised the movie was hated though..:o

After the toxic WOM become reality only some fools wouldn't drop their expectation. It's performing just fine if we taking all the negative buzz it's up against into account.

I think you miss that it will have made over 70% of its entire box office by now.

In terms of numbers, you need to factor in that WB will be lucky to get 35% of the international box office gross as that is how it works. Even less from China.

Add in production costs, marketing, salaries, back end deals etc, this film will be lucky to make £100 million profit.

This is the same poor decision making and budgeting that killed Amazing Spider-Man 2. On paper, the money earned in the first two weeks is HUGE, BUT if you look deeper at inner workings, this had to make a billion to be considered a remote finanical success.

it needs about 750 - 800 million to make a profit

dc is just fine

Studios get about 50% of the domestic box office and less than 40% of the international box office. So, they have quite a bit of ways to go to be "just fine".

Long term thinking says this movie sets them up to make profits over the next 6 years, not just a one year result.

If it takes them 6 years to see profit off the movie, then that is not good.

Fact of the matter is, WB was expecting this to be a sure fire box office money machine. As it should be. But it's not. Even if they do see profit, it still grossly underperformed expectations. And the studio will see that as a very serious problem, as they should.

Anything beyond early to mid 800's is a bit of a stretch at this point. So, if it reaches 850 million, that's only 50million profit for a film this size. This isn't particularly good.

Oh, its making more than Ant-man you say? BIG ****IN WOOP. The budget of most of these Marvel movies is a quarter of the size.

Also... Antman? Who's heard of Antman? It's BATMAN, SUPERMAN and WONDERWOMAN ffs. These are popculture icons in a way few Marvel heroes are. This is almost a TFA style event, it should be destroying everything Marvel at the Box Office. Destroying them completely. It's barely even going to get more than Guardians by the end of its run and even most comic fans had only heard of them in passing, at best, before that movie came out. It's barely even going to do better than Deadpool domestically. WTF. How do you make a film with BATMAN, SUPERMAN AND WONDERWOMAN that can still barely gross the same as an R-RATED Deadpool movie domestically?

The fact its made quite so much money anyway, despite awful reviews, awful GA reviews, bad word of mouth and generally being a mediocre movie just highlight the amount the film should have been able to make if it was actually a great movie. This film should have been an EASY homerun; Snyder faceplanting at first base isn't an achievement.

:lmao: Comparing the Trinity to Ant-Man and saying "least we beat Ant-Man in the Box Office" :funny:

It's not making deadpool's number in the domestic box office. I don't see BvS making another 100million
