Box Office Predictions: Star Trek XI

That would still be great.

I can't wait for TS next week.

No doubt.

I'm hoping the weekend plays out like this.

1. Angels and Demons: fri: 16.6mil sat: 15.8mil sun: 11.5mil Total: 43.9mil

2. Star Trek: fri: 11.9 sat:17.2mil sun: 12.4mil Total: 41.5mil-45%

I'm thinking it's going to play out like this though.

1. Angels and Demons: fri: 16.6mil sat: 16.1mil sun: 11.9mil Total 44.6mil

2. Star Trek: fri: 11.9mil sat: 16.1mil sun: 11.6mil Total 39.6mil. Ofcouse it could go even lower but these are just my projections so I'm not saying that they are law. Same goes for A&D.

I know the weekend probably won't reflect my theater, but when I went to see Angels and Demons (which I liked), there wasn't many people there, while I walked into two Star Trek showings, and those were freakin' packed!

Today I actually expect Trek to do better than Demons or just as good.

Yeah, I figure Trek has a decent chance of beating out A&D on Saturday and maybe Sunday.

Looks like a 48 M opening for Angels & Demons and 42 M for Star Trek. That's only a 44% drop from last weekend. It looks to be having the same kind of legs as Iron Man.

ST has a chance of doing well yesterday or today. It's the weekend. People who haven't seen it yet bu t have heard great stuff from it will go see it.

It DID do very well. It dropped only 44%. To put that into perspective, Wolverine dropped 69% and Star Trek: Nemesis dropped 76 % in their respective second weekends.

It's already beaten all of the other Trek films at the box office without inflation.

With inflation, it's rising to the top. If it keeps up these legs it might be the top grossing Trek film which would be quite a large feat considering the times.

01. Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - $239,115,674

Told you guys A&D would win the box office.

You really went out on a limb there...?

Obviously Angels and Demons was going to be number one. The fact that it was number one by so little is the story.

$43 million eh? *pats self on back*

Respectable.

However next week?

Hmm... maybe like $20 million or less. TS is going to crush A&D though.

Hell, do you think ST could surpass A&D by a couple million? I mean, people might still want to see ST.

Next weekend? I'm saying $20 + million (rather than 20 or less).

My "scientifically" (;)) reached number more specifically says $24 million.

Star Trek will do very well with the holiday weekend.

It could quite possibly break $200 million after next weekend.

Trek will actually do over $20 million thanks to the Memorial Day bump - probably around $25 million.

Its good to see that Star Trek is holding up nicely.

Anyone here still planning on seeing it again?

I knew A&D would get between 40-50 million but Star Trek only losing by 5 million is pretty damn good.

I'm thinking like the box office mojo peeps are and saying that Star trek will go number 3 memorial day weekend, A&D number 4.

Quite a few people were calling Trek over A&D.

as great as TS looks some people may want to go watch a family fun movie while TS is gonna be dark and gritty

A&D isn't exactly family fun.
