Just watched the first ep. Fantastic as usual. I'm curious to see where this all ends (i'm assuming the first scene with him in the diner and full head of hair is towards the end of the season).....

Hank dressed as Xena is not something I will soon forget.

Breaking Bad Lands 13 Emmy Nominations

This morning the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced their nominees for the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and Breaking Bad was honored with a total of 13 nominations -- five of which spanned such categories as Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actor, and Outstanding Supporting Actress.

The nominations are part of 34 garnered by AMC this year, with an additional 17 nominations going to Mad Men, 3 to The Walking Dead and one to Hell on Wheels.

Breaking Bad, in its third nomination for Outstanding Drama, will be up against Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Homeland, and AMC's own Mad Men.

Bryan Cranston, going for his fourth consecutive win for Outstanding Actor (in years for which he was eligible), shares the category with Steve Buscemi of Boardwalk Empire, Michael C. Hall of Dexter, Hugh Bonneville of Downton Abbey, Damian Lewis of Homeland, and Mad Men's Jon Hamm.

Aaron Paul, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor for the third straight year and for his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman joins Giancarlo Esposito, who was nominated for his portrayal of Gustavo Fring. The two are up against Brendan Coyle and Jim Carter of Downton Abbey, Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones, and Jared Harris of Mad Men.

Anna Gunn, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Skyler White will compete with Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt of Downton Abbey, Archie Panjabi and Christine Baranski of The Good Wife, and Christina Hendricks of Mad Men

Mark Margolis, too, was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor for his portrayal of Tio Salamanca. He's up against Dylan Baker and Michael J. Fox of The Good Wife, Jeremy Davies of Justified, Ben Feldman of Mad Men, and Jason Ritter of Parenthood.

Breaking Bad also received eight other nominations: Michael Slovis was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for the third straight year, Vince Gilligan for Outstanding Directing for the second straight year, Skip MacDonald for Single-Camera Picture Editing for the second straight year, and Kelley Dixon for Single-Camera Picture Editing. The Season 4 Finale, "Face Off," also received nominations for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sun., Sep. 23 on ABC.

No writing nominations is a crime. The series, Bryan Cranston and Giancarlo Esposito have to be favourites for their respective categories.

Not bad at all, but yeah the writing nod should be there.

BB should've got some writing nods but Mad Men just dominates that category, I'm surprised that Gunn and got Margolis (!) got a nod though.

Pretty much, that flashback episode gave both Gus and Tio some great character development.

Definitely good signs that Breaking Bad may win for Best Drama. They picked up 6 more nominations versus season three, including 3 for acting. Still never nominated for writing, they do fine with directing.

Yep, every major category besides writing is still good enough. I'll be satisfied enough when Cranston win his fourth Emmy, he got this in the bag, then he'll be the second actor to do so if I'm not mistaken.

He'd be the only actor to win in four consecutive years for Best Actor in a Drama. Helen Hunt won in four consecutive years for Best Actress in a Comedy. Tyne Daly and Michael Learned won four Best Actress in a Drama Emmys so he would tie them.

I stand corrected, knew about Hunt but I thought Franz did won in four consecutive years, in that case Cranston definitely deserves to be the first in my book.

Rooting for Esposito to take supporting actor, it's a good list of nominees but Gus was a memorable performance that we will not soon forget.

Disappointed there was no nomination for writing.

But other than that, excited over some of the surprise noms: Margolis and Gunn for sure. Esposito has a shot to win. BB has a great shot at winning Drama, which at this point could be split between Mad Men and Homeland, meaning BB could squeeze out a victory?

It wasn't even THAT long ago was it? He had been on tv then hadn't he? I remember him in the episode of X Files about kids replicating Jackass. Although, 14 years ago would be 1998 and Jackass debuted in 2000 but still I thought I'd seen him in something else
