Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Brian Patrick Wade IS The Absorbing Man

He did real well. I was apprehensive. Now I am impressed by his performance.

Now put his ass in a movie with better effects.

Hell YES!! dude was wayyyyyy better than stupid Nick Nolte's" maybe he is,maybe he isnt"absorbing man in Ang lee's Hulk flick!I freaking dug when he had the Ball and Chain and was swinging it!! Now i wanna see him take on THOR!! its a good time to be a comic guy with all this stuff!

Creel was more impactful than I thought he'd be. Really heightened the drama. Can't wait until we see him again.

That ball and chain tho. :awesome:

Nice job introducing The Absorbing Man into the MCU and I love the nod with the ball and chain

Agreed. They showed a lot of versatility/creativity with his powers. Very well done. Absorbing the clear plexi-glass material was awesome, as was the glimpse of him with the ball and chain. I can't wait to see more of him in future episodes.

Yeah, the creativity was great. I loved the ball and chain, but they really showed why a character like that doesn't need one. Becoming plexiglass, becoming the road, and turning his hand rubber to carry the thing were all very creative (I expected him to just become metal).

I like how his origin was just left a mystery, that he just had the power, he wasn't some hydra experiment or anything like that

I suspect that he was partly after the artifact, because he wanted to absorb it... it was said/shown that he likes the feel of absorbing different/new things... but, when he saw what it did to Xena he got scared off

if he find a way of safely absorbing it, image the power he'd have

Yes!

and yes!

And the effects were way better than I expected

So they are going to use the term "gifted" for people with super powers. Clears up the whole mutant bit. They don't need to go in depth analysis of how people got their powers they are just termed gifted.

They did a really good job with Creel. Not only did they show off his powers to an impressive degree, but they also showcased how violent and unstable he is, and how drunk on power he is. Can't wait to see what he'll do next.

Um. What are they going to do with prisoners? I really don't want them to kill Creel, but if they catch him where do they put him?

Think Ward's cell is going to get a bit crowded.

The effects and makeup were actually top notch. That was awesome.

They need to reach Pym and have him create a microverse prison.

I really hope Creel uses a ball and chain permanently as his weapon of choice. I don't simply want a nod to it. It's as iconic to him as Thor's hammer or Cap's shield are to them. Can they do without those weapons? Of course, but they would feel like something is missing.

I actually don't think it's as iconic for him as Mjolnir or the shield. His power is the more iconic thing than the weapon is.

And by having him rely less on his ball and chain, he was able to demonstrate the full creativity of his powers. To me, that's much better as an alternative.

Is anyone else a little wierded out that they made it seem like Creel gets off on absorbing things? That said, he was cool and the vfx were great!

Well, I watch the show with my grade school age daughter, so I was already a bit concerned with where a 9pm slot might take us. This veiled drug culture type reference is best left to cop shows. The show runners should be aware, but I realize even the comics are tooooo much for grade schoolers anymore lol. Gratuitous adult themes are just not what I am looking for in the MCU.
I hope the references stay well veiled if they become "must have' elements at 9 o'clock.
Last season we only got one really uncomfortable adult visual, with Skye and her BF gettin it on in unwedded intercourse. This prominently featured Chloe Bennett's derriere in lace panties at least two sizes too small for said derriere. Uncomfortable at 8:25 with your kids? Definitely. But on the plus side, the scene prominently featured Chloe Bennett's derriere in lace panties at least two sizes too small!!
Ward's scene with Lorelei was not as bad, but did not benefit frrom the appearance of Ms. Bennett's back side.
But really, I think the worst thing was how often Ward or May had to use some variation of "Coulson doesn't know we're having sex" every other episode. My little princess was visibly uncomfortable. I remember Clark Gregg saying he watches with his 10 yr old daughter. I wonder if that is still the case at the new time slot?

The sex stuff I totally get, the dynamics there are still difficult for most sexually active adults to wrap their heads around, let alone kids. But isn't a veiled, fictionalized depiction of addiction a good thing for kids to see in media? It's getting across a message of what this kind of thing is like and how it effects people in a way that might be easier for kids to process and contextualize.

Great point! Put across in a sufficiently negative and unshaded light. It would be much less traumatic than the needles and rapes at 10pm. Or Daddy trying to explain it all :halo:
