BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for? - Part 5

Wow now you have to pray the OW and international returns can salvage this.

Do we? Do we want this to be salvaged or do we want a wake up call in how these DC movies are being made?

I've never seen any movie from Scott Derickson that I particularly really liked, but I've seen the headline 'This movie could be Marvel's first flop' to many times.

Marvel won't have a flop so long as they keep making entertaining movies. The only movies they've made that haven't been entertaining are the Thor monstrosities.

Other than that, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't enjoyed their movies, regardless of whether I think some of them are overrated. That's the thing about Marvel..even if the movie is pure fluff (Ant-Man) it's usually unoffensive and enjoyable.

Yeah, I don't know when it happened because I wasn't impressed with any of those early eps either, but somehow it's since become the only DC show I look forward to every week. Partially because it's actually giving me some live-action Martian Manhunter in his big green glory (my 2nd favorite DC hero behind Superman), and partially because it has a very palpable beating heart and soul.

Since I respect both of your opinions, im gonna give Supergirl another shot. I bowed out after 5 eps, but even then i was charmed by Ms. Benoit. Next binge watching session is all Kara & Co.

Come now, it is far too soon to call Snyder or Ayer "visionaries." Ayer has directed nothing truly visionary in his career. Hell, if anything, he has more clout as a writer than a director and even then...one great movie doesn't make up for all the crap he has done.

As for Snyder...Oy.

I mean they have their own styles in every movie. You can see it's Snyder movie or Ayer movie even from stories, characters etc. not just directing, shots. Many directors has huge imput on what movie will be even if they don't write themselves. Especially the ones who gain studios trust.

Man of Steel had a lot Goyer and some Nolan and a lot Synder. Almost you can point it out which parts goyer, which parts nolan and which parts snyder.

This movie probably has a lot more Snyder (who is frank miller fanboy) and some studio from what i hear on these boards.

I had still high hopes despite i hated 2nd trailer because Snyder likes comic books a lot, visuals looks like from comics and he'll deliver what so many loves about these characters and Geoff Johns will guide and Terio will write a great screenplay but we all hear different things now.

My criticism for Snyder has never been about his style but his decision making now. You can make a great BvS in 300/Watchmen visual style but changing essence of characters won't help it.

She is so charming and lovable. Perfect casting.

Somewhere in the multiverse of life...there's a live action DC Cinematic Universe that is run by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini.

Ew. Two men with a Batgod complex? No thanks. :o

Snyder needs to go because he's just a distraction at this point, no matter how you feel about him.

God bless him but he just can't get it done.

I'm pretty of the same belief, though with the start date of JLA just around the bend , I do wonder if WB is willing to put on the brakes with Snyder at the helm. I certainly think the Superman franchise is done.

DC just needs a Feige.
I wish they'd hire Max Landis to fill that role. He seems like a bit of a Batman hater, but he absolutely understands Superman...and he also understands the dynamic between the Justice League members. His dream sequel to Man of Steel, which includes a much more natural and organic solution to introducing the Justice Leage, sounds a billion times better than BvS and he came up with it ON THE SPOT.

Yeah we need a superman fanboy for once. Let batman get touched up for once.

If Johns was really in charge, maybe we would'be gotten the infamous scene of Hal dropping Bats on his ass.

oh god no not landis

Fine I'll run the DC Universe. I'm just a redhead with a moderately proportioned rack with a laptop, but I can do it.

We just need a good filmmaker who can make enjoyable, accessible films.

He never really has been. 300 was the last time he "succeeded."

Watchmen underperformed at the box office.
Sucker Punch was complete ****.
MoS was a disappointment critically, as well.
And now BvS is being panned by critics.

It could still do well at the box office and I might still like it! I might even love it! But the fact of the matter is that Zack Snyder is all flash and no substance. His movies generally look amazing and he has a love for the source material but he can't make his stories work.

And now he's doing Justice League. WB keeps putting their eggs in the same basket and getting the same result. It's insanity. Literally.

You haven't read American Alien. Best Superman comic in YEARS. Landis has written my favorite Superman. Granted, I'm far from a Superman fan but that's my point--Landis is making me REALLY like him. At this point, he seems pretty good.

Warner Bros just needs to make good movies. The Dark Knight trilogy did its own thing and still managed great reviews. When the quality is there, the critics will be too

Was there really a petition to remove Snyder? I thought I read someone talking about that a while back. Can someone post the link or pm me the link?

The way these rotten reviews are coming, this could end up in the 20s

How low can you go.
