Supernova

He killed an ordinary man at the start of this movie

And no, just because Marvel does it doesn't mean its okay. You need to understand I'm a DC guy. I even appreciate Batman and Robin to a certain extent as a (poor) adaption of campy 60s Batman.

This movie is awful, without reference to any comics. It's an abomination of a film.

I think it's pretty clearly stated what you said in the spoiler tag isn't true.

Hearing how bad the film is and knowing all that happens.

I still have tickets for 12:30 but I don't want a BvS film like this.

You'll be ok. It's just a movie.

Back when MOS, people weren't okay with Superman II's ending either.

I dont care though, most of the fanbase cant hold reeves films on a high mark and pee on these films for doing the same damn thing.

Maguire's Spider-Man was heroic as well.

The aftermath to the train scene is my favorite scene every in a superhero film.

Raimi could have had Spidey die there and it would have been perfect with no complaints from me with how well it was handled.

Maybe drink a few shots before you go in.

Just a few? Got it.

At light speed through about two thick, concrete walls.

What do you think happened to him?

My only explanation as to why nothing was raised about it was because the guys body disintegrated into a million pieces

It was said in the freaking movie he didnt kill him, did you not pay attention? by the way it was a window not concrete

Yeah, it was said in the bathtub scene. I was pissed because somebody here posted "it's the first thing he does in the movie" I was like really? :( but it's stated by him that he didn't.

It was in the proceeding hearing scenes as well as lois and clark bathroom convo. Im not gonna hold your hand and go through the whole movie because you couldnt keep up

:o

If you want to delude yourself and buy into Snyder's "profound" script, I'll let you.

Bottom line is, a human being cannot survive that. Your logic is that if Superman had snapped Zod's neck and said "I didn't kill anyone", then Zod wouldn't have died.

If anything, the fact it was (apparently) made clear the guy didn't die shows how stupid and illogical the movie is.

I'd suggest calming down.

Wow! I'm surprised by some of the harsh criticism the movie is getting from this board. Not a perfect movie in anyway, but I thought it was awesome...very enjoyable.

Some of my concerns:
  • The movie felt choppy. There wasn't really much fluidity from scene to scene.
  • Jesse was inconsistent. At certain points he felt unhinged and frightening, at others a bit annoying.
  • The CGI for Doomsday wasn't that great to be honest.
  • Even though there was an attempt to have a very dramatic moment between Bats and Supes vis-a-vis Matha's kidnapping, it felt too rushed. Batman goes from being on the verge to impaling Supes to rescuing his mom in a matter of 3 seconds. Batman never really understood how Lex was manipulating both of them.
  • The ending was DRAWN OUT. I felt like the funeral procession took forever. How long do I really want to see people walk through a wheat field?
  • Back to Batman trying to kill Superman...the Batman I know wouldn't try to kill Superman...he would try to neutralize him. He's the world's greatest detective, a great tactitian, and has genius level intellect. Could he not find a way to neutralize Superman's powers and perhaps plan to have him held in some sort of kryptonite laden cell somehwere (Argus maybe)?
  • The score was not as good as the score for MOS...not by a long shot. I actually disliked Luther's score.

Now, some of the good:
  • Ben Affleck was the business. I really liked his Batman, and his take might be my favorite...although he was f-ing BRUTAL. I think I can kind of be okay with him killing. Maybe? Brutal.
  • Wonder Woman. Sweet Jeezus Wonder Woman. While I don't think she stole scenes, her brief amount of time on scene was used incredibly well. I thought Gal pulled out both sides well (Diana and Wondy). There was a point in the Doomsday fight where he knocked her on her ass and I could have swore I saw her smirk before she got up and went back at him. I loved that.
  • I like Henry Cavill and he gets a lot of flack for some reason. His very reserved, stoic, do-gooder vibe is kind of what I associate with Superman. Some people think he's too stiff and like cardboard, but I think he's just fine. And in the movie you can really feel the internal conflict inside
  • And speaking of conflict...I thought the movie did a great job of addressing the ideas of heorism - what is a hero, what makes a hero, and does heroism come at a cost.
  • The clips of the other 'metas'. I don't care what critics say...it didn't feel all that out of place or random. Within context it worked. And as far as The Flash's appearance...when he was saying 'you were right about him'...he was talking about Luther, not Superman. Louis was the key because she retrieved the spear. At least that's my take on it.

Even though this movie may not have lived up to expectations, I like the cast that is in place and I pray that WB rides this out...but with another director (and creative team). I think there is a lot of potential here - Affleck was great as Batman, Gal was great as Wonder Woman, and I really like Cavill as Superman (he just has the look dammit).

Even though I say it was awesome, I wouldn't give it an incredibly high rating. I would put it at a 7/10. I think that's fair. Rotten Tomatoes really shouldn't have it rated any lower than a 60% to be honest. The movie deserves better than that.

I'm going to see it again tomorrow night, and I'll probably get one more viewing in this weekend.

I think everyone (including WB) should just stay the course with this world that has been built so far. All we need is some new direction and things will be fine. BvS hasn't destroyed the DCEU...it's just shown us that there are so many possibilities for the future, and new leadership could get us there.

Honest to god, I’m listening to the soundtrack from the 1978 Superman movie right now. It’s like a BvS exorcism.

I just watched the Donner original film. Still incredible. To think Superman used to bring a smile to my face. I had to watch it to keep in mind what we still have.

Stay the course! See it for yourself and then decide. There are A LOT of people who enjoyed it.

Last time I checked this is a movie with a guy flying around shooting lasers out of his eyes, you really looking for realism with what someone could or could t survive?

As (apparently) one of the movie's biggest critics, I can say definitely see it.

There are snippets of brilliance, and it will get you psyched for the DCEU in respect of films not helmed by Snyder.

JL will be a disaster if he remains at the helm though.

There are some genuinely enjoyable elements, but I repeat that the movie is fundamentally broken.

Mate I'm just not going to argue with you.

Superman is a Kryptonian. If it was a Kryptonian we were talking about, he would have survived.

But he wasn't and we're not, so he didn't.

There's no point having this conversation if you're not even willing to engage with me in a logical way.

Your logic is that anything can happen in this movie if the script says it does. If you like movies like that, go ahead. Again, it's a reason why this is one of the worst comic book movies ever made.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish I had.

I would like you to (in spoiler tags) explain the plot to me though. You seem to have gotten it more than I did.

:funny: :lmao:

For some perspective, here are a few films I like/love that have around the same:

K-Pax - 41%
The Bucket List - 40%
Man on Fire - 39%
Equilibrium - 38%
Underworld - 31%
The Butterfly Effect - 30%
Hook - 30%
Hocus Pocus - 30%
Seven Pounds - 26%
Law Abiding Citizen 25%
Home Alone 2 - 24%
Sucker Punch - 23%

Mine:

Little Monsters - no rating
Problem Child 1 & 2 (4% and 7% respectively)
Superman IV 12%
Masters of the Universe 17%
Predator 2 25%
Robocop 2 32%
Casper 44%
Dragonheart 50%
Blade 54%
Most of the classic horror movies from the 80s-90s (Freddy Jason etc)

I'm starting to think that many of these critics (Not all) didn't like this movie because it didn't appeal to their vision of these characters. It sounds like the movie isn't as bad as they're making it out to be.

"What the hell are those two doing with their mouths?" - Zack Snyder

:funny:

I genuinely fear for the future of these characters. And I'm not even a big fan of Superman or the other DC characters.

These people asking for dark, mature themes are forgetting that that's not why these characters became popular. Sure, that's fine for a what if tale or else worlds graphic novel, but for DC's flagship movie that's catered towards millions of people?

Movies are far, far bigger than comics now. Kids watch the movies then go read the comics. It's why you can literally see changes made to the comics to be more like the movies.

The idea that Iron Man and Captain America will be to future generation what Batman and Superman are to us is very, very real. WB/DC has already ruined Superman the past few decades, and they're trying their best to ruin Batman as well.

Guess what superheroes all of my little siblings and cousins know and love and buy toys of? Hint: None of them are in BVS.

Goddamn. :(

Sndyer's Superman makes a lot of sense when you realize that Snyder is a fan of Ayn Rand.

Yep.

If anything, the fact it was (apparently) made clear the guy didn't die shows how stupid and illogical the movie is.

On the scene you're debating, I believe Superman
put his arms around him before the impact. Of course just moving at those speeds should cause physical harm unless there's some kind of force field effect to his flight and super-speed. That's just comic assumptions for him and Flash, though.

I think Snyder gets in his own way. We really do need someone else leading the way on JL.

I actually read some rumor somewhere that now they are rewriting parts of WW, taking out any references to BvS. I didn't even know they were going to have any references. And apparently Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman are all on the chopping block now. Take with a grain of salt of course...this could all just be bull. I'd like to think WB wouldn't have such a knee jerk reaction. They haven't even gotten through opening weekend.

It was nowhere near as bad as they made it out to be, IMO. I enjoyed the heck out of it. BUT I do see why critics and others don't like it. The way the film flows... there's no real flow to it. scene to scene to scene, chain of events, doesn't feel like a complete film in a way. Lots going on in the film. Could have left some things out and expanded on others... But it is what it is. Still an enjoyable film for me, aside from a few gripes.

Your focused a small scene where what u said happened didn't

Plot:

bruce wayne is filled with venegeance for what happened to his employees during the zod/ superman fight. After the fight the world is divided on if they need trully need superman or not lead by the senate committee. Lex takes advantage of the situation to rid the world of superman. He pulls the strings for batman to get more hateful and the urge to take on superman. Superman also questioned himself if he belongs or not. When lois finds out lex is behind certain parts of the plot against superman its too late as lex uses martha as leverage to get superman to fight batman then when they both come to there senses lex says screw it and unleashes doomsday, que to the trinity uniting and bam.

Im very calmn, I just ask people pay attention in a movie. Maybe his phone was going off alot with angry bird updates
