This is too funny not to share, Ben's reaction to the critic response. :lmao:

I can completely see why this film got the score it did. Yikes.

I'm starting to think that many of these critics (Not all) didn't like this movie because it didn't appeal to their vision of these characters. It sounds like the movie isn't as bad as they're making it out to be.

It is.

I must be one of the few that didn't find Ben's response funny. I feel bad for the guy.

Trust me I feel sorry for the poor bastard, it's just the music that makes it hilarious.

Oh so do I. I want him to get his solo bat film because I think he deserves it and he's the right man for it

But come on the way the video was edited was funny

"We get the critics who have their personal opinions," Cavill told Yahoo UK. "The thing about personal opinions is they always come from a place and there's a preconceived idea which you have to get past, the critic, before you start writing your article or your review and that affects everything."

If I wanted to see a murderous Flashpoint inspired Thomas Wayne/Batman and a nihilistic Red Son inspired Superman I'd freaking read Flashpoint and Red Son. There's a reason those are alternate reality stories.

I'd say it is.

FFS, he launches like a speeding bullet to stop that Warlord. He didn't learn **** from killing Zod. It's like Snyder's ideal hero is to KILL. KILL. KILL. It's disgusting and a disgrace.

How people try to rationalize this is beyond me. "But they didn't shooooow it" is not an explanation when logic tells you otherwise.

It's funny, for years I was harsh on Man of Steel, but I strangely feel sorry for being so hard on it now. It wasn't awful, it was simply mishandled and was a decent foundation for a superman sequel. BvS just feels like a cluster **** in comparison, like someone dropping a beautifully decorated cake. It's a complete mess.

Same. Just reread my MOS review and it feels like I was kicking a puppy that didn't know no better.

Some of you are probably too young to understand why those first 2 Superman films were great, but just thinking of Reeve catching the spire from the Empire State then giving that smile to the lady whom he saved, I wish we got a little smile like that.

Hope? This is a superhero movie FFS we ain't got time for hope. GET TO PUNCHING ****

Maybe drink a few shots before you go in.

I found that drinking heavily after helped

I don't. The vast majority of people consider him one of the film's highlights. If anything he's gonna come out of this with may more pull at WB.

If you want a quick change for JLA, root for the opening weekend to be lower than Deadpool. If that happens, I think Snyder is fired on Monday morning. Deadpool was a D-list character with a Rated R movie. If a PG-13 Batman/Superman movie can't beat that, then something has gone horribly wrong.

LOL wat. Deadpool is at the very least an A-list character and if you have been paying attention to the internet/comic book fan love for Dpool way before the movie, he has taken over as a sort of post-modern Spider-Man. The BO reception only confirms his A-list status. If BvS can't beat MoS, THEN something is wrong. I highly doubt it will beat Deadpool. Dpool beat Spider-Man 3 AND Guardians of the galaxy. No way in hell BvS beats Dpool.

Ben's bat solo films will be his redemption, poor guy will just have to do it all himself. But it will be well worth the wait.

Affleck was the second best Punisher of the month, I look forward to hopefully seeing him play Batman. He was far from one of the problems of this movie, the problem was the material he was given.

Yep. Totally deserved, imo.

It deserved every percentage point it lost. The characters deserve better, the audience deserves better, and Snyder deserves to not direct another of these.

Yep, I'm no Donner fanboy, never really identifying with that version of the character having grown up with the Post-Crisis version, but Donner got a hell of a lot right. The first half of STM is a perfect example of how to treat Superman seriously without losing the hope and idealism of the character. Simple Zack talks a lot about the mythic symbolism of these characters. Donner did it. The best parts of STM are truly operatic and mythic.

People also forget what the world was like in the late 70s. It wasn't much better than now. The US just got out of a humiliating and scarring war, a President resigned due to corruption, and the economy went to hell with stagflation. Saying we need a new, reinvented Superman now because of the dark, cynical times we live in is laughable. A wholesome Superman helps us find our way and inspiration in the darkest of times.

The great thing about that video is that it shows Batfleck knows the movie was BS.

I suspect he's already given an ultimatum to WB ("Fix it or I walk").

I just hope he bat-brands Snyder :p.

J/k

It's not your fault, Ben. It's not your fault. Just hold out until your solo.

#SackSnyder!

So it looks like I may not like this film if Flickchick and Snowy didn't. :(

That music never fails to make me laugh thanks to Arrested Development. I don't even care about context.

You too flickchick? Damn

I can't remember ever going into a film like this with so much dread and so little excitement :(

8 hours to go for me
Yeah, I just...I kept trying to will myself to enjoy it. There were certain scenes that had me thinking, "ok, I can totally get into this"...right before they were undercut by something inane or ridiculous. It just didn't work at all for me, and I can't even muster up the energy to write up a proper review right now because I'm so deflated. Like...they have a great cast who were clearly there to make something good. They were just completely failed by their material. Henry Cavill COULD be a perfect Superman - I just don't see Superman in this character anymore, and that hurts, because Supes is my guy. But I honestly felt like I was watching some sort of alt-reality Elseworlds version of both these characters, waiting for the real ones to show up and school 'em.

Wonder Woman came out looking fine, but I'm now convinced that's only because she wasn't in it long enough for Snyder to screw her up. Thankfully, this gives me hope for her solo.
