If the dollar is getting stronger, wouldn't that mean foreign tickets cost more so more money is going to the studios? Sorry, I'm not following the train of thought here and exchange rate economics aren't my strong suit, so feel free to dumb it down if you have to. :oldrazz:

No tickets don't change in a country with the exchange rate. Exchange rates can fluctuate daily. Ticket prices cannot. And tickets cost differently across North America, the same thing applies worldwide.

One thing to remember is that the dollar has been going up for years. That means the exchange rates have been getting worse and studio get less $ back from overseas for the same tickets sold. So to surpass IM3 in overseas box office would require sellng substantially more tickets than it did.

The ticket price in the foreign countries stay the same, so if US$ is stronger, US$1 is equivalent to more foreign money, or 1 unit of foreign currency is equivalent to less US$. Hence the same ticket price is converted to less US$ (when US$ goes up), hurting OS BO.

I have not seen this yet but I am very glad that it is doing so well.
GO CAP GO!

It looks like it will clearly have better legs than AoU, good sign of it getting to 500 million domestic.

That's a very good Monday. It bodes well for this weekend I think (ya, I know I'm getting ahead of myself....).
If it drops 45ish% and comes in close to a 100 million second weekend, we are pretty much locked for 500 million Dom and unseating of AoU for 2nd place. I'm hoping for around 50% drop off.

So with a 50% drop, what would the DOM total be by the end of this weekend?

If it keeps just slightly above AOU dailies and with a 50% drop, by the end of this weekend, we'd be looking at $315M-$325M.

If it holds well, it could be right on the heels of BvS. Could be in the 320s I'd say, but that would be very good holds. I think it'll pass it on or about a week from now.

EDIT: Late.....as usual.....

Damn, that's a great Sun-Mon drop. Hope the actuals look that good this whole week.

Nice Monday number.

600 mill world wide in just a few days. Billion is gaurenteed. :D

Remember that it's been released in some territories on April 12, so it's been out almost 3 weeks in some places.

In most places it's only been out a few days or a week longer. Is that right? When did it open in UK? Is there a list of opening dates?

With that monday, it has a very good chance of taking the 5th place in the fastest to 200M chart (Currently TDK with $203,7 in 5 days, CW could make 205+ in 5 days)

SW:TFA made it in just over 2 days. That's absurd.

TFA did 500M DOM on 10 days. Think about that for a second. A lot of records are off the table for a long while thanks to TFA. At least didn't cross the 250M barrier on OW, so there is that to look for someday, a Marvel movie could be again the first at such milestone.

Maybe James Cameron can do Titanic in Pandora. :vomits:

It's at 705 million WW, will cross a billion by next Monday most likely.

I know right? That is just absolutely INSANE. I went to the Chinese IMAX in Hollywood when TFA came out and the ONLY decent seat I could get was for a 5AM showing....and that was like a MONTH in advance. 200M in 5 days ain't nuthin' to sneeze at, but the TFA numbers are just bizarre.

Good Monday number. Which tells me that Sunday was definately deflated. Probably could of truly had a 180+ weekend. Oh well regardless, I'm glad it's doing well. Just passed over 700 milli WW.
