Chapter 10: "Truth and Consequences" discussion thread 11/26

I just do not get all the negativity this season.
Sure it has had some WTF moments but hardly worthy of the bashing these boards gives the show.
Heck I wonder why 90% of you even watch the show? just to have something to complain about?
Heres a novel concept if you do not like it and just want to bash every episode, do your self a favor and watch something else you actually LIKE...

Yeh I know watching something you like seems like a lost concept.....

Episode #9 was good, and I (and most of us) praised it here. But if an episode is bad, we should not pretend that it's good just because we are fans of the show.

Wait let me get this straight you think your opinion is somehow factual and an episode is bad because you say so?
Because I have not thought any of them were bad so far.
See me if I think something is bad I usually stop watching it, not watch an entire season just to praise one episode.

Its opinions of whether it is bad or not and your opinion is that the season is bad.
So again I have to ask why do you watch if you do not like it? just to bash it for what you think is bad?

My opinion is no more relevant than yours. Just because I say it's bad, doesn't make it so. And just because you say it's good, doesn't make it so. They are called opinions, not facts, and this is what we do in message forums. As long we back up our opinions with comments and constructive criticisms instead of just saying that it's "good" or "bad", we are opening up discussions and that is always a good thing.

As for your opinion that Season 2 is great, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But when even the creator of the show, Tim Kring, voiced his disappointment with this season, I think you are in the minority.

actually the general view this season has been positive by almost every but the heroes addicts

^Peter just wants to stop the virus, he does'nt have time for Hiro's s***.

Agreed. You can say what you want about Peter's lack of common sense when dealing with Adam and the virus, because some of it has been difficult to watch. But Peter has no reason to listen to Hiro. Hiro was the one that went on the offensive right from the get-go, and even told Peter his lone motive was revenge. So why wouldn't Peter protect the man who saved his own brother.

I thought that the chief motivator for Peter was to stop the virus so his Irish girlfriend will not die in the future, as well.

Wow. It was amazing to see "Heroes" go from one of its best episodes ever to one of its worst. It's like the writing team is the literay equivalent of Bears quarterback Rex Grossman. One day, they're brilliant, and the next, it's nothing but fumbles and interceptions. [/B]

Oh man, so true. Brilliant blog.

Also, how does Adam know he will die if shot in the head? I mean, has he tested the theory? Was there a third healer at some point?
I dont think he'd want to test that theory.

How exactly did you come to that conclussion. The ratings are down, most media reviews have been negative, and even the show's creator has criticized it. It seems like the internet fans are really the only ones defending it.

I dont think he'd want to test that theory.

But he (and Victoria) seem to act as if it is established fact that he will die. How can they be so confident unless there was at some point a third healer whom Adam used as his test rat (Papa Petrelli, perhaps)?

What I dislike is that they have been establishing how powerful Adam's regenerative ability is, but now it's like "well, just shoot him in the head, and he's dead". It's like they are trying to downplay this power.

If Nikki dies because of Micah and Monica's actions, does anyone else think her death will be just as pointless as D.L.'s? I'm not particularly fond of the character, but to cure her of the virus then kill her in some stupid subplot about stolen comic books that is in no way related to the main plot just seems dumb

She really needs to die from the virus. She went to the Company to get help for her condition, but it has been more apparent that her purpose on the show this season was to contract the virus and ultimately die from it. Her character has been idle this entire season, especially since the writers already subplanted her with Uhura and Monica as a mother and sister like influence for Micah.

I think this MSN TV blog is pretty accurate with its critique of episode 10:

..Later, she points out to Peter that Adam's trying to spread the virus. Adam says, no, it's the Company that's trying to do it. However could Peter possibly tell the truth? If only he could read minds...oh wait, he can. Not that he needed to when Adam guns her down on a pretty thin pretext. And then spitefully throws down a picture of her marked with blood. Too bad Peter's clued out for all this.

That part really irked me. Unless Adam has ESP-blocking skillz, there's no reason why Peter can't tell if he's lying. Perhaps Peter can't fully control when he uses the mind-reading power but that seems pretty weak.

Problem is Peter already used his telepathy on Victoria moments ago, so the argument that he can't control it is pretty weak.

Because he has not lied to Peter at all and has portrayed the company to be very evil which they were at one point and he SAVED his brothers life how everyone keeps forgetting that is beyond me.

Thank you. People seem to forget that Peter's whole character is built on emotions. And his feelings for Nathan should be unquestioned. Peter was locked up by the Company, and had to suffer the guilt of what became of his brother who's injuries were a direct result of Peter going nuclear. Adam provided Peter with the remedy, so it's not that difficult to believe in Peter's loyalty to Adam.

Btw, I failed to see why Peter was threatened by Victoria. Has he forgotten that he can stop time, or use telekinesis, to prevent her from firing a shot? I'm not sure if Peter remembers what abilities he has most of the time.

I gripe about this often because it is frustrating. The writers/creators gave Peter this great power but won't let it manifest. He never seems to remember his abilites when he needs to. We get rare glimpes of his capabilities, only to have him revert back to being basically clueless. Alot of this can be blamed on the episode "5 Years Gone", where we finally got to see Peter in full command of his powers. So now we are all left waiting for this to become a reality.

True, but you could see in Peter's face that he was questioning what Victoria was telling him about Adam. That, coupled with Adam's pathetically transparent set-up to kill Victoria, should have been enough for any guy who's been lied to by a bunch of people in the past to get suspicious.

On a separate note, I'm really sick of Sylar now and want him dead, regardless of whether he gets his powers back or not.

This theory seems alot more plausible then then the one where Adam is actually Papa Petrelli. Mama and Papa P's parents are unknown, so at least the writers could conjure up a story on how Adam is Peter and Nathan's grandpa.

Peter could just read adams mind about his intentions. what a dumbass

calm down. it's a television show for chrissakes.

I'm very disappointed by the writers' treatment of Nikki in S2. I don't blame Ali Larter for wanting out, because she can see clearly that she has been given nothing to do all season. In S1, Ali was able to do some acting chops with her split personality storyline, but in this season she has been in Nikki mode all the time, and hasn't even hurt a fly. I can understand if Larter has grown tired of her character and wanted to try other acting gigs.

So...we're not allowed to criticize the show now? Is that the understanding, NateGray?

Like Raiden said, we're not going to like every single episode. But we shouldn't be like, "OH MY GOD!!! Heroes is so, like, totally perfect!!one! They never make a single mistake!!1!11!"

Her showing up on screen usually means if you have to go to the bathroom, go do it now cause the show will be boring and not important for a moment.

Both seasons (although she got better in season one when she met the main storyline)

To criticize is one thing to attack it like is done on these boards is a wonder any of you even watch the show at all as much as it is bashed non stop.
Unless as I said and suspect many watch just to bash it.
Otherwise criticism is a give and take.

Do not worry I will not post my minority opinion on these boards anymore, I will do like most and either just bash it(not going to happen) or not post my minority opinion, its not worth it going up against so many who just want to bash it.
Sad I now know how the SR defender board posters feel.
