Chapter 10: "Truth and Consequences" discussion thread 11/26

Can anyone verify this for me? When Elle sees Claire coming at her and she fumbles with the keys and the slushy, I could have sworn the cup looked like a Slusho Cup, from the Cloverfield viral campaign. Could be wrong, but it looked like the logo. Did anyone else notice this?

EDIT: I looked back on my recording to make sure and it's most definitely a Slusho cup. Interesting that they'd choose Heroes to promote Cloverfield.

It definitely is. JJ Abrahams probably had a hand in it. He invented the product name, and displayed it in Alias as well.

Elle is the monster in Cloverfield. Just four more Slusho's to go.

Damn, I can't wait for next week's episode.

I mean that if its the brain sending the message to the body to heal (thus destruction of the brain wouldn't allow for healing), then a blood transplant wouldn't help a dead person.

The brain is made of cells that cannot reproduce or regenerate, so if a brain is destrpyed, and I'm assuming enough of it in the case of Adam, et al., then that's when they're goners. They're essentially brain dead, and programmed cell death then occurs (I'm a biology nerd).
i think what the writers are trying to convey (and this might even be factual, but i'm not a biology nerd) is that if only a small portion of the brain is damaged, for instance by a single bullet wound or a puncture, it can still regenerate. but if an extremely large portion or all of the brain is removed or destroyed, then they're dead. besides, as far as the show is concerned, if they stayed true to the fact that brain tissue can't reproduce or regenerate, then Clair and Peter would have been dead a long time ago, whether the object was pulled out of their head or not.

Yeah. Everyone needs to think about guns for a second...

A bullet to the head from a distance.... not as bad as a shotgun shell to the head from about a foot or so away.

maybe around 8:00 or so. maybe 9. i'm pretty sure they've been on by the time i got to school in the morning.

It just seemed like Mohinder and Noah were about as far apart as the lady was from Peter.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind if they canceled this show due to the writer's strike?

It amazes me how a great show one season could turn into a pile of shyt the next season.

I think I was just seeing things, but did Sylar kill Alejandro with a CAR KEY??

Monica's finally a superhero! And what do they do with it? They DON'T put in a fight scene that could've been badass.

the shotgun would still cause alot more damage either way.

It's still salvageable, and a writer's strike could allow them to go back a retool the show. I actually think the strike came at the best time... just before a potential jump-the-shark.

If they re-did season 2 then I'd be all for that, but I doubt they will.

*Lost is the best show ever made and Heroes can't even compete.

that would be really really really lame for nbc. :cmad::cmad::cmad:

yeah, kinda of a buzz kill. it look she will get her ass kicked. somehow i think nikki will come to the rescue.

I think your the only one on that one. Some of the choices this season haven't been all that hot, but I would not want the show to be canceled. I still love most of the characters and could see great things ahead if the writers are given the chance.

I've heard Brits say Anders accent is way off and that no one there talks like that.

I'm a brit. Its not. don't talk silly :oldrazz:
Its a posh accent meaning he is probably from a southern county. True not everyone talks like that in England but look at keira knightly for how posh she is

I'm a bit disappointed with this episode. The preview looks great, but it's basically a filler for the final episode. I already guessed that Adam was the one who wanted to unleash the virus, so Hiro's revelation through his time-travel didn't really surprise me. However, I'm wondering how Adam & Peter was supposed to be able to find Victoria Pratt so fast? And wasn't Matt the one who was trying to track Pratt by himself? They pretty much left Matt's plot hanging (after giving him the awesome power of mental persuasion just so he could extract Pratt's name from Ma Petrelli).

I also felt that Claire has been a let-down this season. Aside from choosing West over her family, and got her dad dead in the process (and crying about it afterward), I don't really think she did anything spectacular this season. Maybe her blood will save Nikki, maybe not. I just hope she will do something more substantiate in the finale, and hopefully it will involve Elle (Kristen Bell has been underused quite a bit imho).

I think Monica was somewhat interesting, using her ability to sneak inside the den, but Monica/Micah/Nikki story right now feels like a filler that distracts away from the main storyline, which is the Virus. If they gotten rid of this part, I won't have noticed, and I'd rather them getting more screen for Matt & Nathan instead.

As predicted, Maya picked Sylar (and indirectly got her brother killed). I hope there's a big payoff in the end, because otherwise this whole plot involving the twins will be a waste. I guess Sylar might kill Maya and regain his old powers back, which would help make Sylar interesting again. But they could've just done this early on and got rid of the twins, and save alot of time that would've better spent elsewhere.

As for two heroes who will die, my vote goes to Maya and Niki. The former get killed by Sylar, and the latter died due to lack of antidote from Suresh (maybe Ali Larter wants out?).

I don't want to see the show cancelled because Volume 3 was supposed to pick up the pace and get more indepth with the virus. Kring went on record saying he kind of botched Volume 2 by assuming the fans wanted the first part of the season to start off slow like it did last year.

I agree with the comment on Monica's chance to be a superhero. The same could be said for Peter. He had numerous chances to go teke on Victoria when she had the shotgun, but instead chose to disarm her using brute force.

Maybe not cancel outright, but I think a major retooling is in order. "A Cautionary Tale" was a good episode, but this episode kinda left me high and dry. I really hope the last episode will wrap up this story arc and give us a satisfactory end to this brief season, but it'll be hard to do in just 45 minutes. At any rate, I think Heroes definitely has the Sophomore Slump, and I hope when the strike ends, they will bring back the magic from Season 1, but it won't be easy. I for one will still tune in for S3, if/when it happens.

I take it you haven't spent much time in the southern counties cus as someone who lives in hart in Hampshire i can say for a fact his accent is well not good saying that it was always gonna be difficult for him because the stimuli he used for the voice was probably various people more than likely with different accents and his voice is just some weird amalgam but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter its only a TV show

I have actually spent time in Hampshire but it was years ago for a summer trip. Lets just say no one talks like him in liverpool or manchester :cwink:

nor do they in Hampshire or any of the surrounding counties it sound like a cross between a London accent and a Somerset accent so its pretty weird oh yeah have you seen the episode yet

Man, what a crap episode. Last week's episode was great, hmmm what a let down. One of the dumbest things was Monica getting caught. Why didn't she just go back the way she came in? Hey Sylar, I don't care if you killed your own mother, I'm in love with you! Wtf?

I've never been convinced by Hayden's acting that she really likes West. His character is annoying anyways.

I guess whatever power Victoria had, Peter now has.

What does that freaking symbol mean?

It just seemed like Mohinder and Noah were about as far apart as the lady was from Peter.

First of all, they werent. Second of all, a shotgun and a pistol are two very different things. Noah's eye was taken out, if Pratt got off that shot, Peter would have no longer had anything recognizable as a human head.
