Chapter 59 - "An Invisible Thread" Discussion Thread - 4/27/09

It's pretty obvious the reason they did it off screen is for budgetary reasons. Effects are expensive. Blue light isn't. Had they shown it with a shoestring budget, it would've been even more disappointing, no?

And for plot predictions, be prepared for the 'real' Nathan to somehow get resurrected. Probably something weird like Sylar spewing out the DNA of the people he shapeshifted into or something. Why? Because we need the real Nathan back so that he can be killed off again at the end of next season. At this rate, Nathan dying at the end of each season is going to become the show's running gag. I think he's 'died' more times than Adam and that guy's a freaking regenerator!!

Yeah, but that's a copout in my mind, other shows are able to give us good actions scenes, Smallville and Supernatural always have effects and fight heavy season finales and they're on the CW, so probably have a much smaller budget.

I've had it with Heroes, deleted the season pass after last night's episode.

I don't even know where to begin. For once, I would like to see a finale where we actually see a fight between two people using abilities. Maybe if they spent less money on Sylar shape-shifting, they might be able to fit one battle into their budget.

On a side note, those hoping for Peter to have all his (or Sylar's ) powers back need to be ready for a plothole. Peter touched Sylar and took his shapeshifting power, but who knows if he got all of them. I say this because Peter did not seem to be healing after their battle. So I am guessing the writers will just pick and choose which powers Peter has next season as they see fit.

Angela says that her dreams always come true........ but I remember a dream she had where we see Claire's body headless, remember that dream???? How come that never came true, ........... this is clearly poor writing

A crappy season finale to a crappy season.. I’m done with this show I hope it gets canceled

Dear NBC,

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

That is all.

Love, Luck, and Lollipops,
A fan.

Dear NBC:

PBS is still better than you.

Over and off.

LOL. Right? Seriously.

Honestly, I was kinda hoping we'd finally have a good finale for once. Until I saw 1961, then I knew we were screwed.
I mean, sure, some cool stuff happened.
But why would they bother to ACTUALLY have Peter and Sylar facing off...clearly with abilities being utilized heavily...and have it happen RIGHT OFF CAMERA?! HELLO?! Christ, this seriously felt like it was specifically done to piss us off.

Heroes Writing Staff: So, yeah, let's have Nathan and Peter flying around fighting Sylar, we'll imply lots of use of electricity and probably TK too. Oh yeah, and the fans don't get to see. BUT CLAIRE DOES! Take that, fanbase. :cwink:

Honestly, I did not want to be one of these people. I tried so hard this season, but, alas, here I go...
This show sucks now. Really. :csad:

LOL I know how you feel about the battle, when the doors closed I was all know freakin way. They did it agian Ahh!!! I really wanted to see it. They prob won't do a good Peter V.S Sylar fight till they end the show :cmad:
They did however make up for it by Peter taking Sylar down in limo that was pretty wicked. I sense there rivalry going on more next Volume, lets face it Sylar will remember who he is and will want revenge on Peter. Peter will find out Nathan isn't Nathan and want to kill Sylar.

Man, I've never seen so many people across so many message boards completely disappointed and disgusted with one shows season finale. It's truly sad!

Stupid writers and Tim Kring! They really screwed the pooch on this one! :o

I cannot belive we missed the big fight
the one we've been waiting for: Pertrelli Bros versus Sylar
just so that we could stare at Claire's eye and ill-fitting wig
what the hell
we're 60+ episodes into this series and there's never any super-powered people fighting each other with their abilities!
I just can't believe they'd do that

Tracy's return was definitely a cool touch
but it wasn't a dramatic enough ending to close the entire season
it just felt like a regular episode

and I suppose I like the idea of a government sponsored superhero team with Nylar as the leader
but I'm pretty disappointed by this finale
there was so much more they could have done

wtf did they bother introducing Angela's sister if it wasn't so that Peter could take her ability to fight Sylar?

ugh

Heroes fans are so fickle. Everyone complained saying its crap cos whenever a character dies they can just use Claires blood to bring them back.

and now theyre trying the iron out the creases and make fans happy. (by leaving out things that caused the problems in the first place) you all complain saying aww why didnt they use claires blood.

if they did use her blood all of yous would be going crazy saying "they never kill anyone" they just have.

the Sylar/Nathan switch is a good twist and i dont suppose we will see Sylar back until al least the end of the next season. that hint was just for dramatic effect.

Heroes writers will never win bcos the fans make mountains out of mole hills!!!!!

Exactly, Smallville fights are usually not long because of the tight budget, but they always show something cool. The Clark vs Doomsday showdown in the "Doomsday" finale should be no exception, unlike this garbage Heroes did. Supernatural always has plenty of action so their finale should be pretty good too.

Heroes just hit a new series low, the worst finale of the series, another ******ed Nathan dies.... NOT! I stopped watching this show last year and the finale reminded me of why, Tim Kring & co. are just creatively bankrupt, is not just the budget.

Although it's still stupid, the Claire/Adam blood thing was answered in one of the graphic novels for Adam.

He used it on one of his wives after she got sick with some disease. She lived for another twenty or so years, then she got sick again and he tried to use his blood on her a second time and it didn't work and she died anyway.

Either way, it was still stupid.

Has it been established that Nathan was given healing blood though?

Screw the graphic novels. We don't need to read 'em to know all the details.

The problem is, they still have to stay consistent within their continuity. Ignoring established plot devices is not "ironing out creases," it is creating larger ones.

As well as because of bad directions and inability to adhere to their own continuity.

EDIT: Darn you Matt. :p

Uhm your question confuses me. o_0

We were shown Adam using his blood to heal Nathan during season two.......

In his defense, he may have blocked season two out of his mind...

Having healing blood (while still cheap) revitalize Nathan would have been better than brainwashing Sylar. I mean, what was the point really? Was Nathan really so important that "he" has to exist? Really, its so ****ing stupid it pisses me off.

As for Peter and his power/s, I have a feeling that he only absorbed the shapeshifting, but might be able to "rearrange" his DNA to get back his full/original ability.

And what about this episode setting a clear idea of the path Claire is heading down? All I got what Angela's line about protecting her children to no end, etc, nothing more.

As per Hiro, I suppose we won't know if Baby Matt's temporary restore results in the same effect for anyone in the same position of not having their ability. If this is device to limit Hiro's power, then **** it, its pathetic and stupid. So many things have been undone/screwed up from this ****** finale that its going to take a ****load to "fix" it all or keep me interested in next season. At this point the only Redemption I'm interested in is the writers restoring this show to some sort of stable ground.

Season Two >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Season Three

Season Two is so underrated. Go back and watch it, I did recently and it is so much more enjoyable then I remember.

WHen it comes to Heroes and fights, they never give us an all out fight which sucks. Its called knowing what they want to do ahead of time that way they can save however much they can to do something good. We have had how many Sylar/Peter showdowns? And we have yet to see anything entertaining, all we see is the after effects which gets old. We dont get normal hand to hand combat or power vs. power combat and it sucks. Do you know how badly I was waiting for a Tracey (Ice) vs. Merideth (Fire) battle during villans?

Ill still be sticking with Heroes since I have nothing else to watch mondays at 9 and I will try to support them somewhat but for some reason, im thinking next season will be its last.

And it sucks they had to let Greg Greenburg or whatever his name is go. So no more behind the scene pics for us :(

I have no problem with them not using Claire's blood to bring back Nathan. I just hate the fact that they can't just let people die. We killed both Sylar and Nathan and in a matter of five minutes both of them are back (technically). Enough already. I used to be the biggest advocate for Sylar and now I can't want him dead more. It's ridiculous. Create another villain/characters already and move on. I used to watch a show called Heroes now I think I'm just stuck with Sylar and those other guys running around with powers

The problem is the show doesn't adhere to it's own, rather short, history/continuity. After all the time Claire has spent with Nathan this season, you don't think she'd want to try and save them. Also why would Mama Petrelli want a "fake" son over her real son, she has to know about the miracle blood, much easier to use that than brainwash someone and dispose of a body. Oh and I'd expect to see Sylar come back much sooner than you do next season. Heroes has shown a number of times Sylar is their go to villian. They've had plenty of chances to write him out of the series, but still haven't chosen it. They could have written him out of season 2 entirely, but instead make him take that totally pointless road trip.
