Should a filmmaker not defend or stand behind their work? And then his third movie was a disaster he defended in an embarrassing manner. He was getting worse and then was going to make a movie people actually care about.
I'm sorry but calling Trevorrow Voldemort, how do people come up with that?Firing Voldemort is a real plus in their favor on that one.
Not when your defense turns into people are being unfair to you and its hard to make art in America.Should a filmmaker not defend or stand behind their work?
I did. It was my thing here, I enjoyed it, still do. Made even happier that he is finally fired. His hiring pissed me off royal, and then The Book of Henry came out, proving everything I feared.I'm sorry but calling Trevorrow Voldemort, how do people come up with that?
David Lynch agrees. David Lynch said the arthouse film scene is not "dying" but "dead."Not when your defense turns into people are being unfair to you and its hard to make art in America.
Because the entire idea centered around not saying his name because he was going to be in the credits for this film. He was going to get fired. It happened, its fantastic.I don't really understand that. Why is he akin to Voldemort? Besides Book of Henry?
And yet I watch more then a few every year and even PTA is still making films. So yeah. Also, that is different from making the argument that the criticcs were being mean to him.David Lynch agrees. David Lynch said the arthouse film scene is not "dying" but "dead."

It has always been hard. That doesn't mean you cry about people thinking your stupid movie sucks. Because anyone with a bit of taste would understand how awful that movie was going to be before filming it. And David Lynch being wrong doesn't make it any different. How many hours of television did he just spend making arthouse?I'm not saying I agree with his stance, but I understand it. Just like I understand Jordan Vogt-Roberts taking issue with the Cinema Sins video over his Kong movie but think he should've ignored it since it was just a silly YouTube parody video and not worth getting emotional over. But artists are egotistical and sensitive people. They are still human beings at the end of the day, and I can understand that.
I'm not saying you have to agree with him but just because Paul Thomas Anderson is still making films doesn't mean it's hard to make arthouse or indie movies now. And once again, you have David Lynch publicly stating the arthouse scene is dead. David Lynch said that.
It seems your issue with him is that he's sensitive and didn't respond to criticism well. I'm not saying you are wrong about that, but again, I think it's sort of extreme to classify him as Voldemort for that. Your anger seems somewhat deeper than that than just making one bad indie film.
Ron Howard has made plenty of bad movies too you know.

Ron Howard has made underwhelming movies. He has also made some fantastic ones, and I feel like in general he fits Star Wars. He can invoke that 80s adventuer flick very well.
I've only seen Jurassic World as far as Trevorrow's films go.
It was a fun action/adventure film, but had nothing against the original and I'm still wondering how it made $1,5 billion at the BO, considering the "averageness" it was for a JP film (again, don't get me wrong, it's a good film, but nothing too special).
So based on that, I wasn't very excited about him directing IX. But now, I am excited to see who will step up next.
Well, guys, YOU wanted this. The dude makes ONE bad indie movie and you lot started SCREAMING for him to be fired from Episode IX. Well, NOW he's gone. Hope you guys are satisfied.
Partial sarcasm aside, now if only we can get Guy Richie off of Aladdin but keep the cast....
I didn't expect this. I wonder who is going to replace him as the director.
