Commissioner Gordon Casting Thread

I don't think we need a 5 minute scene depicting the death of the Wayne's in slow motion, but I don't think that means that the movie can't have a scene where it's touched on, or shown a brief flash of happening from Bruce or even talked about in some way. I think that if the movie doesn't construct Bruce's emotional connection to his parents and their death, that the character can be weaker for it.

Yeah, I’m not really opposed to some sort of reference to it or even a brief flashback of a couple scenes.

Deep down, I'm still pulling for Kyle Chandler.

I've said it before: make the Batman origin a stylized, probably animated, credits montage.

That would have been interesting to say the least.

I listened to Ali on The Frame recently, and he also made it sound like he's kind of wary of supporting parts these days. There was a great bit where he talked about how Nic Pizzolatto offered him the the secondary role in the most recent True Detective, but Ali was able to convince him to give him the lead part instead. So getting to play a solo superhero like Blade was probably more appealing to him than the cop helping Batman.

Still, that would've been awesome to see.

I get that. He was arguably a lead actor in Green Book, but come awards season he was relegated to supporting. I'm sure he's thrilled he got another Oscar in the end, but on principle I can see why he might have been a bit miffed.

I can still very easily picture Sterling K. Brown as Year One Gordon.

Do that.

Sterling K Brown would be great as Gordon no doubt, but I'd rather see him play a different character in the DC universe that would give him a bigger role and more screentime—he'd fit either Martian Manhunter or Mr Terrific perfectly, although I could also see him as GL John Stewart.

Thomas Jane as Gordon I would be all for it

Probably a bigger paycheck to Star in Blade as opposed to a supporting role in Batman.
