Last I heard, he was with his girlfriend, a Ms. SanDiego...

I think to finalize this early 90's throwback, we have discuss Pogs and Sonic The Hedgehog (back when his games were good...)

Yeah, but for now, let's get back on topic.

In practice, the board is healthy and well. The only additions or updates lie in the human behavior and outlook of certain forumers. I'm not trying to be as arrogant as to make a "end-conversation" statement, but wouldn't this thread and the general idea be better suited in the "Technical Support" Forum?

As you, Dbella, and Morg seem to be looking for a "How do we make SHH better" series of comments.

Am I mistaken?

Well, yes, and no.

Granted, it'd fit there, probably better than here, but it's got a pretty small traffic flow. I mean, if you take all the lounges, and combine them, you get more posts from there, than you would in the entirety of the Tech forum.

My question is what conversation brought about a need for such a thread? Do the mods feel that anything needs to be fixed or is this a hypothetical thread. Like, people comment only when they feel their actually is a problem?

I've seen the thread here, and I've posted in it earlier, but I'd like to be clear on what the gravity of the situation is here....

I think the best way to describe the thread is "Suggestion Box". We're not going to do everything mentioned here, nor are we going to ignore it all, but some good ideas have been voiced, and implimented.

Doesn't this message board hold a code to get an arcade up and running? That would be a neat little addition to the board.

what actually do the mods want

either from from us, or the board in general?

Any word on implementing the ability for thread starters to be able to change/edit their thread titles? That was as yet unresolved last I checked. :(

Yeah, but we're really not into the idea of adding hacks to the site.

Suggestions.

From what I'm seeing, it looks to be set up already.

The thread title edit option is not avaialble to us users. It is not in our thread tools. :( I just checked. I wanted to change my fanfic thread title and I can't. You see the option in your tools because you are a mod (I modded a VBullitin board so I know this...)

I looked in the back end, not the thread tools.

What do you mean by back end? *feels stupid* :(

Can we delete our own posts..? Delete them, not just edit them.

I checked the front page of my thread, back page, all the various click on thingys that are on any given page including the advanced edit page... I got no "back end" I got no edit/thread title of any kind except for the title on an individual post. :(

We need to have the opting to delete posts....so if we Double post we can delete it :)

No other member has posted a pictures of animals and dead babies and compared them to the children of moderators.
Her charming personality aside, I think she's been a lot of fun around here. From what I've seen she's cleaned up her act a bit, I don't think we should hold that against her forever.

has anyone ever been banned, but was able to come back later down the road on a probationary status?

and after that probationary period, be allowed to be "normal poster" again? i know i'm wording this horribly but hopefully someone knows what I mean

No that's never been done, usually someone gets 2 or 3 chances here to change before they are banned though.

That's exactly what happened with me:huh:

But then, I was a typhoon of aw shucksness.

Didn't nosebleed get permabanned and then have a triumphant return as knowsbleed?

Lots of people have been perma-banned and allowed back over the years. The opposite - being perma-banned and never allowed back - has historically been reserved for a select few.

To be honest, though, what an individual has done outside of this forum has no impact whatsoever on what they have done here.

I have no real opinion of Holly as a person, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was some super kick ass chick in real life. Nevertheless, that doesn't change who she was as a poster here. That goes for anyone.

Being a member of this forum is a privilege, and you post under the discretion of the guidelines set forth by the administration. Any poster who is given a plethora of chances to fall in line, and fails to do so, eventually runs out of said chances.

Sure, it's a hard ass approach. I'm well aware of that. But at some point, we have to draw the line.

The current staff, in its design, can't control what happened three years ago. All I know is that the decision was made to begin expanding the staff as the forum itself began to grow, and thus, begin enforcing a set of more specific guidelines.

What happened in '04 or '05 isn't going to happen now. So those posters who resurrected themselves again and again back in the day won't be given those same chances again, but we're also not going to just start throwing people off the train out of the blue.

....Now, before you go pulling out "_____gate" on me, let me finish.....

Is the system perfect? Hell no. We make mistakes, and there have been situations that have come up in the past that some of us our still conflicted over. Outside of Dew, no one on this staff is a perfect human being. People have let personal biases affect their judgment before. And when these situations occur, the only thing we can do as a staff is try to clean up what's been done.

Going forward into the next year, I can personally assure you that issues like this will become a problem of the distant distant past. And we're striving to do whatever we can to make things as crystal as possible. It's the reason why threads like this are fruitful.
