No they talk about real issues there, but just like anyone else they are prone to the human need to rip into a poster they don't particularly like without fear of anyone else seeing it.

Hey. I was just thinking, wouldn't it be good to have a drunk tank. Like if someone's a lil worse for wear, instead of banning them for a short time, you could exile them into one thread, and it's the only thread available to them, and other drunkards would be in there. So then not only do the drunk people have other people in the same thread that are on the same wavelength... but the mods can look in the thread and watch the hilarity.

To add to this, you could use it for a chill-out zone too. If there are a couple of people arguing on the Super boards about the shape, colour, texture of Supe's undies, throw em in... let em fight it out in there so they're not cluttering up a thread that should be moving forward instead of devolving with mindless arguing.

Then a mod could stick their head in and ask if they are ready to join the populace again and behave like civilised posters.

Any word on whether this is being discussed amongst the staff or not?

my suggestion kinda deals more with the fan art contests, but could grow elsewhere.

back in the day, there were real prizes awarded for the fan art contest winners (ie: books, graphic novels, etc). what about as a prize an avvy increase?

the increase could either be in
*pixel increase (for anyone under 100x100, they are bumped up to 100x100 status for a win), OR, if already at that level, a 125x125 pixel avvy.
or
*file size increase (for anyone under the 80kb max, they are bumped up to that if they win), or if already at that level, the file size is bumped to 100kb.

with there being only one art contest a month, you could potentially have 12 people at either of those levels, more if you want to reward mods with these sizes too (which i'd have no problem with). would this really significantly increase the amount of lag on the site?

With VBullitin, I don't see how you can increase the avvy size allowed for one user without increasing it for them all. I am not so sure that option even exists.

Nothing yet, but I'll be honest, I'd vote it down. It's your job to control yourself when you're drunk, not ours. Besides, anyone can say "OH NOES I ARE DRUNK! WATCH ME BREAK THE RULES!!", hoping to exempt them from the rules. And you know I'm right-just take GIRLS GONE WILD for example.

are you referring to pixelXpixel size of kb size? would it not be the same as the 50x50, 75x75, 100x100 options we have now? i'm not too knowlegable about this kind of stuff, which is why i'm asking.

It's not just the drunk posting that Eggy was talking about though, but troublemakers in general. And of course it's not your job, but where's the fun in that? It would be pretty funny to me to see a thread where the whiners could whine without affecting the rest of the Hype.
