It'd be cool if we had a separate book forum. That way we could broaden the discussions with certain authors or book series. One thread is a bit too packed imo.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a book forum. And a music one. Or maybe we could combine those two for one sub forum? "The Finer Things- Literature and Music" ? Haha.

Seriously though.

Lets consider the idea that, by spitting one board into so many, one of the major side effects is it decreases the traffic level for all of the boards and all of the topics.

Where I might have posted in a political thread if it was in Community, I'll never post in one now that it's in its own forum.

And I'm sure it's the same way with many other people. Where the Lounge or threads such as that might have been nice little resting grounds for people as they debate over politics and sports and attractive women, it's now left by the wayside as people flock to those other subsections.

But some subjects are too vast for just one thread (example is Politics).

At last check, there are no plans in place for a Book or Music forum. We haven't had too much of a problem with threads for either subject cluttering up community, or anything like that. If people want a separate thread for different books (like a Twilight series thread and the like) than you can start separate threads.

That's true. Way back when, I used to post in almost every board. I rarely post outside of the RPGs now, since that's my primary reason for logging on these days.

I'm not suggesting just one thread. We used to have tons of threads about sports, politics, and even the stupid association games all in Community. And Community was ALWAYS full of people. You could always find some conversation or debate to engage in. Now, it's pretty dead compared to when I left.

Not saying we should do away with all of the new forums, just that with new forums, comes a price.

And what is so hard about clicking on Politico and joining in on the conversation? I couldn't be more thrilled that politics has its own subforum. If you post a political thread in community, nine times out of ten its going to get lost somewhere in between 'Child hit by car while riding turkey across the road' and 'Do you shave your manly parts?'

Community is still the most popular forum on this site. I rarely see less than 15 posters in there at any one time.

I do agree that there seems to be a decline in members that become "regulars". The fact that certain Board sections are dead is a testament to that. Could it be that Super Heroes have become more than just "hype"? We almost expect to see our favorite heroes, anti-heroes or villains in films these days.

You've got everything from Batman and the "top tier" heroes of DC and Marvel, to The Spirit and Sin City. And even Spawn a few years back. Maybe it's become so common place that people don't want to discuss it or something?

Of course you guys are discussing politics, but I believe it's all part of a whole. People come here for the comics and movie aspect. THEN they look for intelligent conversation and discussion in off topic things. So no more heroes, no more politics.

honestly i prefer the idea of a Fine Arts Forum (ie: music and literature) i actually prefer that to the celebrity section, which i wouldn't mind being placed back into the community forum.

a books and music forum would most likely have its own celebrity threads of sorts for different artists, authors etc. and i think it would definitely have success. I already have a couple of ideas for threads i'd like to start or participate in if we had a sub forum for it, but i don't really want to post them in the community because more likely than not they will be lost among the throng lol

I definitely agree with you ComicChick. I am an art major, so it'd be awesome to discuss graphic design and influential artists who work in my medium.

That title still belongs to the Bat-boards.

Holla.

I probably should have said ONE of the most...

That said, the Bat-Boards also have the title of 'Most Responsible for Crashing the Hype!' :cmad:

If I saw a section called "Fine Arts," I would not think it was a collection of threads about all kinds of books and music. For example, there is a thread about the new Guns 'n' Roses CD. Would that go in "Fine Arts"?

The only way a book forum would even be considered would be if there were a plethora of book threads flooding the Community forum.

But because of the complete lack of book threads, there's no demand for an entire forum for them.

i have ideas to put forth but to be honest i can't be arsed and fire and dog lips will just tell me to go away
