I don't understand why the Christianity thread was locked. The discussion was not disrespectful at all, in fact considering the thread has lasted through Wilhelm, Sparkle and Moviefan, I'd actually say it's a bit on the tame side now that all three have been banned. I didn't see anything 'disrespectful' about the last several pages -- in fact there were several nice comments like "this thread needs more Squeek" and "why aren't all Christians more like you", etc. Please, we have to stop making decisions over what conversations posters can handle and posters can't handle. Most people are offended when you talk about politics, so lets delete the Politics section while we're at it. Most nerds on here are intimidated by athletes, so maybe the Fitness thread should go too -- I mean, we do give some tough love to whiney girly men in there. If they don't want their faith challenged, or their views countered, there is a 'back' button -- just sayin'

I just did now. Most likely course is opening a fresh thread, that one seems to have run its course. Either way being able to talk about that subject will be a privilege again soon.

Yeah, he basically compared gays to murderers and rapists in Sodom and Gamorrah, then proceeded to tell the story of how God massacred them for it, closing his post with "think about it".

Funny thing is, I think he was banned for it like a day after he posted it. I remember seeing it and replying that it was 'totally not offensive' (sarcasm of course) -- then the discussion went on as usual for a good long while and poof he was banned.

Yeah, he basically compared gays to murderers and rapists in Sodom and Gamorrah, then proceeded to tell the story of how God massacred them for it, closing his post with "think about it".

Funny thing is, I think he was banned for it like a day after he posted it. I remember seeing it and replying that it was 'totally not offensive' (sarcasm of course) -- then the discussion went on as usual for a good long while and poof he was banned.

You have to understand that this is the teachings of a lot of churches. It is something messed up to say something like that on a board where people could be of any sexual orientation, but from what you say it sounds like he was only explaining.

Moviefan is a good guy and did not deserve to be banned if just for that. Not perma banned. Maybe a week or something...And opinions are just opinions.

The bible and churches pretty much explain the place was nuked cause their was sin, debauchery and homosexuality. Even I was "taught" this in church.


I noticed that a lot of stuff is allowed but people are really strict when it comes to sexual orientation. A long time ago, I had made a joke about races and people...I got a penalty for the homosexual comment I made, but not for any of the racial stuff I said.

I mean I realize that I was just being a jerk but Moviefan was probably serious but...Can't we give the guy a chance? It's not your fault for believing what you're taught and raised with.

I mean look how many people think Microsoft is better than Apple...

He was proud of those things he said, and he should've stepped back and learned to be a little more sensitive when expressing those views.

But I don't understand how he made a threat of death and destruction. It is assumed from the "Think about it." line, but doesn't assuming make an ass out of u and me?

And that's not even a threat, anyway. Even if he meant it in that way. What that would be an implication of is that he would want for that to happen again or something like that, again, only if he was even heading in that way. I don't see how retelling a bible story is in any way comparison to a racist being obviously mocking and racial.

You're searching for inferences and comparing it to directness.

I am open minded but he wasn't. He was stone cold set in his ways and his posts came off as arogant and prideful that he knows he is right and his evidence to back up his theories were also correct. I honestly have never seen a more stubborn poster on these boards

And if I walked down the street and saw a homeless guy dressed in Nazi garb then no...I probably wouldn't feed him But I have feed homeless people They weren't dressed as Hitler

Stubborn or zealous? Since when was it a crime to be faithful? I think it's a misunderstanding.


See what I'm trying to figure out is....How is what he said not only ban worthy but insulting? It's the bible not his own terrible racist opinion.

This is what it sounds like you guys are saying has happened:

Poster A: Women should be in the workplace and have freedoms.
Poster B: Well, in the bible there is a large theme of women being plotting, evil or viceful. Eve gets Adam kicked out of paradise, that other chick wanted John the Baptist's head on a plate. In the middle east women have all kinds of rules and stuff. Think about it.


You could take that in all kinds of ways. That would be stupid and messed up to say because there's such an obvious tone to the above statement. But it could also be heading in another direction.

In the direct quotation of our discussion, Moviefan seems to be in that same boat. Possibilities of either horribly rude and wrong statements or a misunderstanding.

I mean if the guy is such a bigot, he could be told to either leave or not make comment of that nature; and he'd probably leave on his own. But if it were a thing, he could always just refrain from things that people find offensive.

Let's all look at his Modest Attractive Women thread to remember what a bigot he was; when a mod posted a picture of a woman brushing hair from her face, Moviefan psychotically called it a lesbian picture and said the arm brushing the hair from her face was the arm of another woman, and that they were about to kiss.

Like, he was really just ridiculous.

Wow. Look the guy was nice to me. When things were down, the guy was there offering a hand. Others would have watched and laughed as I fell away from myself, but the kids was like "Don't give up."

So whatever. I tried. I think people just need second chances. I never said you were wrong, Chaseter. I just think that a permaban isn't really worth it, but apparently he sounds more and more like he really was overly opinionated.

That's where I am different. I don't have enough patience to care about most things. Like this for example. I wasn't trying to make this a thing....I just wanted to offer the idea of a second chance.

If not, then fine...I would hope that the people I've spoken with would at least attempt to fight for me not to get eAssassinated.
