No, I like the humor. That was never the problem, I even saw some of the movies in theatres. I just can seem to care about any of those characters. I know the MCU is what's in it seems Marvel can do no wrong, but just not as invested in it as most people are.

Today, my father basically told me that he doesn't have the confidence that I would make it in this world. He told me that I don't have the killer instinct to survive. He said it is a flaw he sees in me and all of my cousins (2 from my oldest uncle and 1 from my younger uncle). He said he and his brothers (who grew up in a single household in rural Louisiana) had it rougher than us and it frustrates him to see how we've turned out because we've been more fortunate than he was.

Was it cruel? Yes. As a divorced parent who I've only seen so little of in the past 15 to 20 years, was it not in his place to tell me in that way? Yes. Could he have made some better decisions in order to be there to guide me instead of scold me for attributes that I lack? Yes.

But there's this thought in the back of mind that knows he is right and that's what kills me.

I don't want to say to go out and prove him wrong because I don't think people should ever use that as motivation to do something. With that said, don't let his words control you and bring you down. Take it as a form of criticism, but don't let it bring you down to the point where you accept it.

We all have our self doubts, but I'm sure you have dreams and aspirations of your own, and as long as you're working hard to achieve those goals, you shouldn't let someone else's ideal of who you should be define you.

I confess that for years now, I've been disconcerted at the level of obsession some fans have with actresses. It begins before their associated superhero movies hit theaters.

This goes back to Maggie Gyllenhaal in 2007-08 when TDK excitement was at breaking point. Maybe the most notorious example was in 2009 with Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre. Before Watchmen, nobody here cared about her and a few months after Watchmen, nobody cared. But she was ALL the craze when the movie was hot.

Now it's Daisy Ridley. She was good in one movie. She's pretty. That's it. But people may as well be nominating her for a pantheon.

It's almost as though the media commands nerds/geeks/whathaveyou which actresses to find most attractive at what time.

I'm feeling the same way about Gal Gadot. Look, she's beautiful, the camera loves her and in interviews she comes off very well... But go into any thread dedicated to her and the comments come off as just really strange to me. All this projection of her "innate kindness, warmth and empathy" or putting her beauty above anyone else... Maybe it's cuz she doesn't ring my fantasy sex object bell, or even fantasy idealized girlfriend bell but I just don't get it. Now, don't get it twisted. I'm far from a "hater" of Gal. I think she's been judged harshly by lots around these parts, but still, some go on about her like they've known her personally for years.

I confess I bought Star Wars Battlefront for the Ps4 a while back & was disappointed with it. I was expecting something along the lines of Star Wars Battlefront 2, with updated graphics, new planets to explore & invade, etc, also the lack of space combat sucked. I ended up selling the damn thing.



Perhaps with an updated version with all the expansion packs or DLC might make me reconsider & buy another copy when it goes down in price.

I confess I kind of want to invite a friend of mine to hang out just so I can punch him in the face. I recently saw some comments he's made in regards to me to my ex. I posted a status, finally opening up about how I felt about the breakup and life in general since I've been feeling pretty depressed and have kept it bottled inside. He tells her I'm being a headache again and later on that sometimes he just wants to slap me because I can be so stupid.

It really hurts because I was there for him when his ex broke up with him, but he hasn't really been there for me.
