I don't really know what I can do about it. It's not like I can Email him demanding a job. I just really find it annoying because I sent in my CV 7 times for that job with a huge cover letter begging for it. Had an amazing phone interview then the rejection email. brilliant.

It's probably some ridiculous reason. I've even heard being too enthusiastic causes them to think your desperate. Not sure what you could do though.

Yeah, but why should desperation make you less qualified? I'd think it would make you more grateful and work harder myself.

I confess I just got a higher grade on a mid-term than I knew I deserve. That was a C grade paper and I got an A. I'm not sure why, but that's frustrating to me.

Actually sounds like they might have referred someone internally for it, or someone high up pulled some strings to get their nephew in.

Some companies are legally required to go through the entire interview process before hiring anyone straight off the bat. So even they intend on hiring a particular person right away, they go through the whole song and dance with other applicants, getting their hopes up, when they actually never had hope to begin with. :csad:

What kind of job was this? I find that if you need actual skills, degrees, and/or clearance, that kind of crap happens way less. I mean, nobody could have forced my boss to hire the VP's kid if the VP's kid didn't have a biology degree and research experience.

It's not my reasoning , but some think it means you just want a job as opposed to caring about what that job is.

More often than not , I think it's political.

Then take it back and say, "Give me the C I deserved for this piece of crap!".....or.....get the f**k over it and be happy that somebody up there's looking out for you apparently. :o

I put this on my facebook just now...

-_- I can't believe there's a conspiracy theory going around that is saying this weak ass hurricane is gonna be this perfect storm once it hits a jet stream or another storm and hit the north east so hard, cause the election to be delayed. It's barely a CAT 1...it's not gonna become a CAT 4 or CAT 5, damn. People need to chill out and relax. Yes, hurricanes are bad, but to say one hitting the north east is gonna cause martial law and cancel the election is just fear mongering.

...I believe in conspiracy theories, but people and the MSM are really overacting imho about this hurricane.

Delaying the election is likely overreacting, but a few days without power still sucks. :funny: Better to be prepared!

ETM, everyone tries to turn the simplest of storms into big budget disaster films. We had a storm hit late in August; news/weather stations were talking it up like the Return of Katrina.

Harrison Ford

Interesting. I served with him about 10 years ago. The notorious "Long Beach Basher" , who would bludgeon his victims with his knobby priapism.

The case was long and draining, lasting over eight months. I will never forget Harrison's single-minded focus for justice. At the beginning of the case, 11 of us were for "Innocent"; Mr.Harrison("Mack", as he became affectionately known) was the lone voice clamouring for a guilty verdict. Mr.Harrison was unswayed by the citified defense attorney's eloquence. Nor was he moved by the defendant's quadriplegia and club foot.

After each day's testimony, we jury would adjourn to our deliberation quarters and spend all night locked in heated debate. Mack, almost Rasputin-like, glared upon us from his perch with his Irish- black eyes, pointing a flinty forefinger at us and excoriating each of us for our soft morals and easy answers.

"Today," he would declare, "the cold bodies of six young filles and a young bureaucrat lie in their premature graves! One of our community stand accused in these murders. It would be unconscionable were we, lowly slugs that we are, to set this man free. Who are we to assert innocence, when seven young flowers of our community have been stripped of their promise? Justice demands a body! And I have made a covenant with God to deliver that body."

Slowly over the passing weeks, one by one, the jurors stripped off from the ranks of those leaning toward innocence, and into Mack's camp. Finally, there would be only one juror left unswayed by Mack's eloquence and fiery rhetoric. In private, Mack would pace powerfully to and fro, vexed by this remaining, unmovable opponent. He tried everything, up to and including ball massage, yet nothing worked.

Finally, Mack dialed the DA's office and had the troublemaker replaced with a more malleable figure, one Mack could maneuver and bend to his will.

Finally, the day arrived when the judge asked for our verdict. When he asked that magic question "How do you find for the defendant?" we didn't have to squabble over who would speak for us. All eyes turned to Mack. It was the proudest moment of his life.

I confess that it's nice to have the internet again! Being without for a few weeks really made me feel cut off from the world...

I confess I'm extremely HAPPY that the SF Giants are WS Champs, again!!! :applaud

I confess that I binge drank this weekend and right now I'm feeling the consequences of it.

I confess that I stopped drinking all together a few years ago because I developed a fatty liver!

Its not a high level job or anything. Basically I've been working in bars for 5 years and I despise it. makes me feel sick the thought of working in a bar any longer. especially the one I was in. long story short I quit my job because I couldn't take it anymore. So I started job hunting for anything other than a bar job. found an add for a customer service role ( same skills as learned in a bar I would say) in a small fruit a veg company call center, yeah it's not the best job in the world but it's normal hours, really good pay and close to my home and my gym. Also the opening hours would allow me to work on music and sorting myself out to be on the way to getting a music degree and being a music teacher/whatever else I can make money with.

So I went all in with this, sent my CV in everyday until I got a call back. had a GREAT phone interview then no response. I called them and the guy I spoke to wasn't at his desk, he then sent me an email saying standards are high and I'm sorry.

So now I'm still hunting and I see an add from the same company for the same job posted today/ WTH??

I confess that this would have surely driven me mad. :p Glad you're back and I hope you never have to go through that again.

This happened to me last night and I'm literally shaken up at the moment. My hand won't stop twitching. I'm a firm believer in karma. Do good things, good will happen to you. The same with negative actions. However, the bad came out of nowhere as fast as lightning even though I didn't do anything to warrant it this time around.

After checking out a local nightclub for their Halloween party to see whatever crazy costumes people had, I was heading home and right before I reached the parking garage elevator, I heard a man yelling behind me so I did the most basic of human instincts and look (sounds get our attention by nature). I don't know what the story was as I'm still trying to make sense out of it, but I guess he was drunk and verbally fighting with his girlfriend or something, calling her the worst obscenities imaginable! But the moment I looked in his direction, he caught my glance and came right after me!

Understand I'm only 5'9'' and about 150 lbs. and he was at least 6'2'' and double my weight so I had no chance. I was caught off guard and forced into a corner. Despite trying to explain myself and being apologetic, if it wasn't for his girlfriend trying to hold him back and a tall stranger who came to my aid, I probably would be in the hospital right now.

Had I been intentionally disrespectful or trying to steal his girlfriend, anything bad happening would've been justified, but in this case, I just turned my head to look at some commotion and almost got my ass kicked for it! Now, I have his angry face burned into my brain as a grim reminder that bad things can happen as quick as a finger snap. Too close of a call of getting hurt. :csad:

People are just disgraceful sometimes. In the case of Karma I believe if something bad happens to you it just means there's something amazing coming out of it around the corner.

Apparently the standards are so high no one can get a job there. They need to take a chance. Sometimes the best workers don't start out with much experience. There's a job like this at the hospital. They won't hire you unless you know medical terms. Meanwhile the new hires can't handle the hours , lack common sense , quit within the first couple weeks , etc. So they are constantly looking for new people.

There's always someone at these events that has to ruin it. That guy deserves to get his ass kicked but then he'd probably take it out on his girlfriend. :csad:

Exactly. I think I'm going to do one last attempt. Email the guy who told me no and basically say I'm willing to work for free until I'm trained. It's the only thing I can think of. I have a bar Interview on wednesday which I really don't want to do but have to and another interview for a job that looks like a scam.

www.futureorganisation.co.uk

That's who my interview is with tomorrow. now tell me that doesn't look like a fake website.

I find it ridiculous, I went for a bar supervisor job not to long ago and on my trial they had me being a waiter, I did the job fine got on with everybody and got no call. Now I see they are STILL looking for a supervisor and assistant manager.

I know from personal experience that when you hire someone you need to look for their potential as well as experience. because no one no matter what job gets it perfect the 1st day.

I also confess right now I'm complaining to much but I know it's because I am so stressed with my personal and work life.

I'm not to sure about that company. I always google the name and "scam" right after to see if anything comes up. I was almost duped by a company that sold Kirby vacuums.
