CW Presents: The Vampire Diaries - Part 1

Williamson being back for the final sixteen is pretty good news that maybe we'll get a respectable finish. Season seven was all kinds of hell.

Did The Vampire Diaries just cast Matt Donovan's dad?
And today, we hand you one more piece of the puzzle: EW can exclusively reveal that Joel Gretsch has been cast in the role of Peter Maxwell. Peter is described as “a blue-collar guy who abandoned his family a long time ago. He is shocked when his grown son walks back into his life to reconnect — and to drag Peter into a world of supernatural dangers.”

Back tonight.

TheCW actually spent money on a new promotional picture? Im surprised.

I was going to say that death was anti-climactic, but let's be honest, none of us have given a s*** about [blackout]Tyler[/blackout] for years.

Glad the girl from Containment has more to do now than just nanny the kids.

i guess we now know where all the dead supernaturals went when the other side collapsed.

Ironically, this season is pretty good. The show hit a trough with the pseudo-witches in season five but it's better now.

Little sister is a psycho. If I were the big sister I'd drink some vampire blood and kill myself and come back as a vampire-siren hybrid.

The two brothers trading themselves was clever writing.

I mean I get it but Caroline was kinda ridiculous this last episode.

The whole Stefan thing? Yeah, I don't really think the whole giving back the ring "there is no us right now" routine was needed. As much as he loves his brother, I don't think even Stefan would argue with taking Damon out of the equation if he got in the way of saving the girls.

Yes plus the whole:

"There is no us. You go do whatever it takes to bring back my kids"
Stefan sacrifices his soul to bring back her kids
"Wah wah wah! Not fair! Whyyyyy???"

What'd you guys think of the most recent episode?

It sucks that we're not getting another episode for five weeks.

Does Damon's death at the end actually lead to a death?

Doing a full series binge before the series wraps, and as much as my adoration of season 2 still stands, it's hilarious how almost the entire season is spent with the main characters operating on false info about the larger mythology. It's weird to picture how different the show would've ended up if the Sun & the Moon curse hadn't been a false flag.

Figured it was going to happen, but it was cutting a little close, have to admit I was starting to sweat a bit.

My guess? [blackout]It's not Bonnie's death that wakes Elena up, but Damon's. Kai was trolling them all. He wanted Damon to kill Bonnie/let her die, only to have to live with the fact that Elena only wakes when he dies and would hate him when she learned what he did to get her back.[/blackout]

well recently after quit watching VD in middle of season 5 after death of katharine i watched rest of nina's time in seasons 5 and 6 and also watched season 7 and have been watching season 8 in event nina returned for series finale.

My hope is nina has decent role in finale and it's not cameo towards end of episode.

to be blunt Nina's absence has been felt and show hasn't been same.all the times this season they are reminding you of elena it would be cheat if she didn't return.i will be shocked if delena doesn't get a happy ending.

Gotdamn, Cade ain't playing...

Those Damon/Matt, Damon/Bonnie scenes were nice. The Damon/Matt one really did have a feeling of "Oh s***, we really are heading toward an ending here."

[blackout]That Enzo death was sad as hell, but quite a bit more narratively satisfying than Tyler's. At least there was a build-up, rather than just dropping the character back into the show from out of nowhere[/blackout].

Also guessing [blackout]the cure won't take, just due to it being a small dose, whereas with Silas getting the cure out of Katherine, he had to drain her. But maybe it does get Stefan back to his senses a bit[/blackout].
