I said it before, I'm pretty sure he was working out just for the visual aid. It's a movie; everyone is expected to look great. They probably told Dane to work out a little to tone himself just so that he looks good on screen. He may even have a shirtless scene, which would also aid that decision. I definitely don't think he'll be doing anything especially physical in the movie, personally.

As did I. When I know who it is under the goblin outfit I just imagine that person but when the Goblin is more a of a symbol he's more mysterious and threatening. It almost doesn't matter who he is. Whoever it is has fully become "The Goblin"!
