Those theater drops really killed us. All that potential gone. :(

$700m is pretty damn good... Not sure why everyone is so down

$700 mill is good. It's just for some reason a lot of people seem to expect a film to make a billion. But even though there has been quite a few billion hits in the last few years, they are ridiculously big numbers and still hard to get.

Nah, no one is expecting that. We're all really happy. It's just that 2 days ago it seemed like our chance of passing X3 came back into play with the legs we finally started showing. 4th of July weekend should have given us a nice boost, but unfortunately this theater drop killed us.

We're all just a bit bumbed. It'll pass. :)

I'm not just talking about from this film, but i've noticed it in general. Some people seem amazed that there isn't a billion dollar film this year. Maybe there won't be one at all. I suppose Hunger Games and Hobbit are the only chances now.

I'm pretty sure TF4 is gonna do it, unless it drops heavily in its remaining markets.

Ah, yes. The doom and gloom in the main B.O. thread and across the rest of the internet. It is what it is. I do get bothered a bit when folks blame the actual films that were released... ignoring how stellar a lot of the films this year actually were.

Yea this year has had some great films. I think i might prefer it to last year actually.

But they didn't make a billion! So obviously they weren't that good! :p

We don't NEED a billion dollar movie. Just because a few movies have broken that barrier doesn't mean that will happen every year, even with blockbusters.

For me, the only x-men movie that I didn't really paid attention to details about what's wrong with it because I was moved with the story and love it from the start til the end were the 2 Wolverine movies, especially the first Wolverine movie. It was great and I was really thrilled very much when Wolverine and Sabretooth were fighting their opponent because it seems that they really don't have a chance to beat him. It was like, how can they possible beat that guy. he is just too much for them to handle. I'm glad they beat him still, which I like because I love happy endings usually.

So even if the 2 Wolverine movies didn't even reach $500 million dollars, all i could say is that it's something that I'd like to watch over and over again without complaints.

At the show I was at last night, there was a group behind me that had a friend who apparently wasn't too interested in seeing it. As everyone was waiting for the end credits scene, I heard the guy saying, "Wow, that was a GREAT movie..."

And as we were leaving, I heard him saying to his friends, "OK, you were right, you were right, that was really good!"

That's why it's still doing so well even with the competition and the smaller run count..

That is great to know. That guy hasn't read comics. Hahaha :)

700 mil is friggin huge and awesome.

Pretty sure supes MOS Didn't make that much.
Think about it.
Dc's crowned jewel made at least 50 mil less than an XMEN movie.
Now if they play all their cards right Apocalypse can bring in 1 Billion.

Advertising and awareness plays a huge part here. I just hope Marvel chills out and works with Fox to allow other forms of media to get the ball rolling.

Aninated series,
Toys
Video games
Marvel NOW focusing on an Apocalypse story.

Aww .. cant wait.

Superman isn't DC/WB's crown jewel.

That would be their cash cow commonly known as... Batman.

Yep. Batman has always been Warner Bros. most financially successful DC character.

Looks like TWS will beat DOFP domestically, but DOFP makes more internationally. I'm glad both movies made well over 700 mil and are such amazing films.

It's been a very nice run after some initially disappointing drops... such a roller-coaster ride! I was hoping this holiday week would be good, but then I remembered that when 4th of July lands on a Friday, it actually kneecaps holdovers since new movies open on Wednesdays and people leave town on Fridays (deflating that number). Still, hope DOFP can fight to a figure close to 2M this weekend!
