AMAZING NEWS!!!

Not only does $700m+ match my prediction, but the X-Men have really captured the minds of the GA. Who'd have thought a Marvel Studios production would be beaten (probably) by X-Men after all this time? So happy :)

Judging by this poll and the one on the Cap 2 thread, a lot of people did. :oldrazz:

It seems this movie and Godzilla were both hit the hardest by TF4.

950k on friday, estimate. Not as bad as it could be. Bayformers is destroying everything. It's a phenomenon I can't quite grasp.

Yeah, beats the living hell out of me.

Since April now we've had directors/writers/studios/casts showing us that blockbusters don't have to be piles of trash. Cap, X-Men, Edge of Tomorrow, and even Godzilla showed us that a blockbuster can be smart, emotional, intelligent, and still be entertaining as hell.

But as always, audiences choose to accept garbage.

Edge of Tomorrow as the only original film that wasn't a sequel or a reboot/remake was the best surprise for me. I loved it. It's genuinely a smart movie. Of course it's doing like ****.

Considering where it started Edge of Tomorrow is doing fairly well.

Transformers is an enigma. The worst rated Transformers movie made over $400 million.

It just hit $80? Like the last 2 Cruise movies, it has to make its money in the foreign market.

DoFP looks to make 3.2 this weekend, according to Deadline. The initial predictions had it at 3.5.. and if T4 wasn't released I think it could have hit 3.6-4.

Still a better 6th weekend hold than X3...

Edge of Tomorrow is gonna have a very good domestic multiplier. Sure since it opened so low its nothing amazing, but instead of disappearing completely audiences have responded positively to it. Unless something miraculous happens in Japan, a finish of $360-380M WW. Nothing great but respectable enough that its not a failure.

I loved that movie. Friend at work was complaining, "I can't sit through that movie because I can't get over his crazy religion..." and I wanted to beat him with my laptop. :whatever:

The funny thing Is even the audence score on RT Is small for transformers compared to other films. It has droped from 78% liked to 65% liked In a day.Even Maleficent which has a mixed reaction from critics has higher audence liked.

Transformers Is like a drug for GA.No matter how films are rated they still line up for them.I myself have long since rehabed myself off them. The only one I went to theatres for was first film.

It's just a shame the GA couldn't prove many of us wrong when we thought tranformers would be top film of summer.

At least DOFP hit 221 million on friday.Hopefully it can get through saturday and sunday to 223 or 224 million domesticly. And at least DOFP only droped to 9 and not 10 or out of top 10 entirely.

I had that phase too. As if I was obligated to focus on that instead of the movies (that have many other people working on them too) themselves. Then I realized I was an idiot and punched myself for being such an idiot. I'll buy EoT as soon as the blu-rays hit the stores.

I have always said people need to focus on his films and acting and not on
his relgion which many here may view as a cult.

Fact remain Tom Cruise is a good actor who works his butt off on films he does.If he does action film you know he will do best to make action look good.

I just rewatched Valykrie last night on Comcast on Demand free movies and i felt he was very good. Some may scoff on him and other actors didn't speak in
accents. Some stars might not want to do role with eye patch for parts of film and playing characters for most of film with only use of one hand. And he played character who dies at end and his death Is actully shown.

Valykrie may not be one of Bryan Singer's most popular films here but i liked it.Plus you had a great amount of other good actors around Cruise In WWII
conspiracy thriller.

Not really, it should drop even lower and is pretty normal. There's so much hate on top of the love that it usually ends up being split 50/50 as far as the net reception goes. Like the poll on SHH front page. It's usually people who love it, or hate it. Regardless of the high box office and cinemascore, which these films always get.

Well with all the money films make you would think In places like RT audence
like they would be higher.

Among die hard sci fi fans including those who may have grown up with past incarnations of transformers they don't like Bay's tranformers.

As i once said you want to watch a entertianing somewhat decent film on transformers forget the Bay films and watch the 1986 animated film.

No way. It's Michael Bay. Too much of the vocal internet movie buffs hate the guy. The modern internet scores in no way reflect the Transformer movies popularity. There's like barely anyone on the boards here now and it's gonna open huge across the world.

Unfortunately AOE hit DOFP a lot harder than I think it would (even if it's "virtually" the lowest start in the TF franchise aside from the first film, it's really hard to compare anyways because it is the first movie opening on a friday, I thought it would be unable to get to 100M+ owe). It's seems we are really heading for a 3.2M we now (best case scenario unless AOE crashes over the week end) which would be a 47.5% drop from last week end. I did a few projections including the 4th of July boost, and I think the movie should now be on pace to hit 230M before its 9th week end (July 18-20). Wether or not it could make it to TLS' 234.4M will largely depend on its 2nd run in dollar theaters.

Internationally with AOE tracking for a 90M+ owe in China, the numbers are going to get even more difficult to predict.

I'm not surprised about DOFP drop. The Transformers audience is the exact same audience for X-Men.

A sub 50% drop will be great IMO, considering the loss of screens and audience to TF4.
