Lego Movie, The Raid 2, Grand Budapest Hotel, Edge Of Tomorrow, Snowpiercer, Winter Soldier, Days Of Future Past , Under The Skin, Only Lovers Left, 22 Jump Street, How To Train your Dragon, Joborowsky's Dune....

There's a huge variety of films this year. And alot of them are extremely well received, well reviewed or both.

From that perspective I would agree. A lot of very good movies, which would collectively make it a great year. But I don't see a great film in there. Yet to watch some of them though, so don't have an opinion yet.

That's because there are more then 10 great films in there. :cwink:

If you don't think any of those are "great" I don't know what would be. Has to be at least one impressive flick for any movie goer in there.

In terms of quality, I think both Transformers/Spider-Man hit the rock bottom. But DOFP is the best X-Men film IMO, and Cap 2 is probably the best marvel Studios film ever.

Well that's harsh

TASM 2 was pretty average/bad but it was still received a lot better than Transformers

We are talking quality here not Box-office

Transformers will probably end up out-grossing both DOFP and TWS,but that doesn't change the fact that it's garbage

I did not say that they are as bad as each other. But in terms of their respective series, they are the worst and thats why I said they hit the rock bottom.

I hope Transformers won't do well. Hahaha :)

The BO for this film is just icing on the cake. I am more pleased with the critical praise this movie received.

X-Men Apocalypse has a lot of momentum going for it. Hopefully, that movie reaches new heights for the franchise.

Exit polls were higher for Transformers then ASM2. Audience ultimately is what matters. That's why these things make so much. Critics don't matter one bit in this case.

It's more than just the icing on the cake. As a fan the quality is obviously important but as a fan you also need a big box office if you're going to get more movies.

Exactly.

I wonder who could be the 4 horsemen.

Overall very impressed with how DOFP is hanging on.

Apocalypse is gonna make some serious dough.

Some great stats for the 2014 movies, so far (Transformers Age of Extinction could change some of these)

Best domestic (North America) = CA:TWS ($257m)
Best overseas (everywhere outside North America = ASM2 ($503m)
Best worldwide = X DoFP ($714m)

Best 3-day opening (Fri/Sat/Sun) = T:AoE
Best first Friday = T:AoE
Best first Saturday = CA: TWS
Best first Sunday = X DoFP
Best first four days = X DoFP (yes, it beats Transformers!)

Best second weekend (domestic) = CA:TWS
Best third to sixth weekends = CA:TWS

Monday's gross (39th day) is less than X-Men: TLS which doesn't look good for surpassing the it.

Yep, I don't have hopes for getting to TLS domestically. Doesn't matter though.

Sorry i cant quote all transformers 4 haters but Paramount didnt lie/inflate numbers after all. The report is b0llocks

Actual opening in USA was 100,038,390 like they predicted.
So yeah bad for you.

and a 300mil WW opening is nothing else but 4-5 markets.

Actual WW opening weekend will have to wait for all markets to open.
IT WILL BE HUGE.

XDOFP has the biggest WW opening for 2014 with 287mil*(4-day in USA) ahead of TASM2 265mil

Transformers 4 will beat that and become n1 with at least 350mil.

Yes, going from $224m to $234m at this stage seems a bit of a stretch.

It might get close, I guess, but another $10m seems less likely.

DoFP is currently $6m behind where X3 was at this same point (fifth week of release).

After its fifth week, X3 went on to add another $8m in a slow crawl.

If DoFP can add the same, it would put it at $232m, so not too far off. And since DoFP has better word/legs, then it is just about possible to get another $2m if we are lucky...

Don't really care about any of that, or Transformers....

We're watching DoFP in here.

Because that was 4th of July weekend for TLS... It got the tiniest boost. Today we'll return to making more, as we've been for weeks now.
