Deathstroke Solo Movie

Can somebody please explain to me why Manganiello is a good choice for Slade? Is it purely because he looks like him and has big muscles? Because it can’t be due to his acting ability, or previous film roles...

Seriously, somebody please sell me why he’s right for Deathstroke!

Guessing he knows his combat stuff. He can dance and fight, which means he's a pretty darn good athlete. I'll bet it mostly has to do with his screen combat training.

That's fairly rare, on a HIGH level, in Hollywood, even amongst decent actors.

There's combat...and then there's COMBAT.

I just feel like this is another film no-one asked for.

On my list of the top 100 DC characters I'd want to see a movie made of, Deathstroke doesn't even make the list. Frankly a Kite-Man movie would hold more interest for me.

I'm honestly shocked at the number of people complaining about a Deathstroke movie directed by Gareth freakin' Edwards! I thought this would be one DC project everyone could agree on being a great idea...

Meanwhile, to the Manganeillo conversation, Jim Caviezel was always my top choice for Slade. But even beyond my personal preference, Manganiello has never impressed me with his acting. He comes off as a henchman, not the complex, conflicted, noble warrior.

It's cool that Evans is involved but I would have preferred Deathstroke in a Batman film rather than a film about Deathstroke.

Hmmmm :hmm :hmm

Joe M just posted this on his twitter account

I hope this Deathstroke movie doesn't end up with the rest of a long line of DC films that seemingly spend an age in development..

I'm still far more in favour of making him a villian in 'The Batman', however the uncertainty that never seems to go away with Affleck could end up delaying that project even further.

I’m all for this. The Raid films are the best action movie this century and Deathstroke is an amazing character. And I feel like Joe is underrated.

I think it's that of all the DC characters that most people would like to see in a solo movie....he doesn't top most people's list.

You mean Gareth Evans.

Gareth Edwards directed Godzilla and Rogue One.

While I would prefer him in a Batman movie, I am excited for this, never seen The Raid movies but hear very good things and I love the character.

Definitely check them out. They’re amazing... good acting, good story and some of the best action sequences ever filmed.

I still hope for a recast. Joe is nice enough in interviews but he's never done anything to make me think he could pull off a character that has a presence and charisma to rival some of DC's A list characters. It's the director that makes me interested in this for sure and my love of Slade Wilson as a character.

Budget-wise, something like this seems smart. The budget for The Raid was only a little over a million. You could multiply that by 10 for this film and it would still be 30-40 times less than what was dropped on the last two Snyder movies. Low risk, high reward.

If it's given a lower budget than recent offerings, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be, I don't think it'd really be stealing a slot from any of the others like Reeves' Batman or anything, so I'm not sure I see an issue here.

Agreed. Make this film with a small budget. Evans can work wonders if you give him a million bucks. Give him $10 million, I can only imagine how great this will be. Tell Slade's origin story, make it a gritty film with him facing off against a realistic villain who maybe has enhanced abilities like his but isn't some CGI nightmare like we've been getting lately.

this movie has the potential to be DC’s Deadpool or John Wick. The Raid films were pure awesome action and that fits Deathstroke to a T. I would avoid the straight up origin film and instead use a few flashbacks to fill in the gaps and would have him set up like John Wick was. He is the boogeyman, the one man every crimelord, terrorist, evil organization, mercenary fears. He has somewhat retired and hears about the loss of his son due to him not only following his fathers footsteps but killed as bait to draw his father attention . Having been a merciless ******* to his children he feels that in order to honor his sons memory is to destroy the ones that begged for his attention. Show him having been an evil $&@! but with a code of honor. He is warrior and he believes only the strong survive. Show his dark side but make him slightly relatable. Is he a villain? Anti hero? Well Deathstroke is all these things when you piss him off and the money is right

Wow, I didn't think modern films could be made for such a low amount.

They gave Joe a damn good look for Slade. I dig it.

It's a good look. After Suicide Squad, it's nice seeing a DC villain without embellishments.

There's a tattoo under there, I can smell it.

I've said it elsewhere, but: seriously, the Manu Bennett version looks better.

I agree that this has the potential to be DC's Deadpool. Low budget, huge profit. WB would be wise to invest in these type of movies in the future. They could give a movie to The Question, Green Arrow and more street level characters, all with budgets of 60-80 million.

They’re going to have to work very hard at making sure this doesn’t come across as ‘boring deadpool’.

Basically, you’re trying to sell a character with a very similar name, with a very similar costume, with a very similar job... just with all the zany character sucked out of him.

The ga won’t give two ****s that Wade is a parody of Slade.

Mind you, I don’t think this movie is ever going to actually happen.

The GA won't care about any of this if the movie is good.
