The Dark Knight "Dent, Damnit!", Dent casting "may not be considered conventional"

Opinions. His acting in Gangs and Aviator was solid.

Solid? That's your argument?

It's bad enough we have to deal with Ledger. We don't need this dink.

DiCaprio out-acts most of the actors previously sugguested for the role... I could definately see him as Dent...

Plus, he´s the same age as Bale too...in fact, it´s DiCaprio´s birthday today! congrats on the 32 Leo!

Leonardo DiCaprio is a phenomenal actor. People who trash him tend to be people who saw "Titanic", and refuse to watch the rest of his movies becasue he's a "pretty-boy".

Would I like him as Harvey Dent? Absolutely. I'd have probably liked him for The Joker as well. But I don't think he's a likely candidate at all, as he's just too big a name.

We can all dream.... Decraprio would never take this role... we all know what the guy can bring but it mihgt not all be a good thing... we should probably focus elsewhere on other candidates... not to mention Decaprio has two major projects in 08

yeah i doubt hed take the role either. I still hope for Phoenix.

Pre-shooting starts in January according to one of the producers. And you're wrong about the crew. They've already been crewing up and have already started pre-production. An art department is in place designing costumes, storyboarding etc. Ledger has alrady done a 3D scan for the TDK fx people. He said so himself.

Interesting...now spill the real beans bub.:cwink: :hyper:

The 'real beans' are I dont know anything as yet, but all crew members that wanted to get on TDK have been given my email and mobile number....if we are lucky enough they will hopefully send me some stuff to chuck up on here for us to browse through at our leisure....As for the crew is ready to go....maybe some parts are and the other parts they do not yet need till filming is ready to roll, will be put together then....Martin was a good honest guy so I reckon he was telling the truth when he told me about March. So if I get anything then I will throw it over to Jett then post on here......

"I have imposed a moratorium on Harvey Dent casting rumors until I receive official word of who got the part."-Jett-BOF

???
Because somebody at CHUD messed with him a bit?

I dont like that BOF has moved from posting rumors to posting hints about rumors. Or that Jett makes it apparent that he knows certain information, but won't tell it to the rest of us. He knows the name of the actor who either turned down Dent or wasn't interested (the reported #1 choice), but he's not giving that out. I'd much rather he say nothing than say bits and pieces.

I do see where you're coming from and that whole announcement fiasco irritated me too. However, I don't think that was entirely Jett's fault - he was told by numerous sources that it was coming. He obviously believed them enough to post it. While you could argue it was a little naive - and it was - in the end, dude is a fanboy like the rest of us and he wanted us to know.

On the other hand, I agree that I don't understand why he can't give out the name of whomever chose to pass on the role - it's not like it matters now.

Anyway, I took his latest update to mean they're probably really is an announcement coming soon. Or, at least, I bloody hope so.

The thing that probably bugs me the worst about BOF, is how Jett will (sometimes) try to pass simple commonsense and the obvious off as actual news:

"Dent should be cast within the next few months."

"Nolan is keeping tight-lipped about the role."

"Breathing is an essential part of living."

It really doesn't have anything to do with the delay of the announcement. It's the fact that the rumors are becoming more and more cryptic. And that he mentions certain things that he can't/won't tell us. What's the point of that? What's the point in saying the 'rumor' is the 1st choice wasn't interested when you're not going to tell us who that person was?

Oh, I get you now. I agree, if he can't say anything...he shouldn't. I think he's trying to clue us in, which would be great, but his clues are, as you say, cryptic.

The part that puzzles me is that last year he was happy to print this stuff. What changed I wonder...

he's made mention to there being a "right" and "wrong" way to do things. naming names seems to be in the wrong. this is because BOF now is "close" to WB, so you don't want to make them angry. this is why AICN news never ran the TDK treatment review. and I'm sure WB put it's foot down on LR about theirs.

My guess? Harvey Dent will be played by Christian Bale. Think about it; he hasn't been mentioned for the role, and the casting would be highly unconventional. Hmmm... Besides, the title of the article "Dent, Damnit!" is clearly a throwback to the "Bale, Damnit" expression. I did it. I solved the mystery. You may shower me with gratitude now.

In addition, there are whispers that they are “aiming high” in terms of the actor who will ultimately portray Dent. There is also been some strong indication that the casting of the future Two Face may not be considered “conventional.”[/IMG]
Wha- one actor for Dent and another for his future alter-ego? And Joker's wearing a mask!?

This might be seriously grasping at straws but, well, I'm bored - is it possible the alliteration in the title itself is the big hint here - as in, someone with two D's in their name?

Like, say, Daniel Day-Lewis? I seriously doubt he'd except the role but I'm having a hard time thinking of someone with an alliterative name whose 'up there' in terms of regard except maybe Gael Garcia-Bernal.

You underestimate the power of fanboys in role deliberation.;)
If DiCaprio is a long time fan of Batman my guess would be he'd take it.

There are a lot of high profile and respected actors that take small to miniscule roles in movies just to be a part of it. Dent is hardly a cameo and Nolan has made quite a name for himself transforming a comic book into art with substance. DiCaprio could take the role just to work with Nolan.

I dont see how DiCaprio is any more respected in his work than Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Oldman and Freeman. Their roles would be nothing compared to a two movie main villian like Dent is supposed to be even without including the challenge of the role itself which often adds greatly to acceptability by actors like these.

As for Denzel, no matter how much I like him, Ive never seen him play any character that comes close to Two-Face. The cop/lawyer/authority figure is all ive seen him play. Even when he did "Much Ado About Nothing" he played an authority figure. Though Dent is an authority figure, Two-Face is far from it. So I cant put as much faith in him for the role as some of you seem to. Though, I do concede, he is certainly good looking enough for it.

Pacino is a joke. I dont care if he is the Godfather, as an actor, he is only a name.

What scares me is the way the casting is described from Jett the person I can see getting the role would be Keanu Reeves. The only positive consession I can make on his work is that he has grown incredibly as an actor.

i don´t know, but i think it would be a nice, and probably funny twist to the fanboys, when dent would be played by crispin glover.....

but when i think over it.......depp seems pretty nice to me (i´m thinkin of that stephen king adaption......)

Um... Yes, he is. Still would be a damned good Dent.

Dent's race has varied over different interpretations.
