The Dark Knight Did anyone feel a stinking feeling in their stomach when the joker..

The scene didn't bother me at all. I was somehow able to distance Ledger's death from the whole movie (until after it was over, of course) and found it to be a very enjoyable part of the film as a result. One of my favorite parts, actually.
If you can't get over the death of an actor whom you never met, then I pity you.

Ask yourself this: Is your life any different with or without him being alive? And don't give me that "yah, cuz I wont be able to see his movies anymore".

I mean seriously, does his death really have a negative impact on your life, such as a parent, sibling, or grandparent dying?

I didn't think so
The sadness over his death, whether misplaced or not, isn't even half as pathetic as mocking people who are mourning. Do you get off on doing this? I'm curious. Does it really bother you so much if people you've most likely never met in person regret the loss of one of the greatest actors of their generation? People here were paying extremely close attention to this man from the moment he was announced as the Joker and really did come to feel as if they knew him as a result. To ask them not to have an emotional response to his passing is nothing less than cold hearted. If you couldn't care less about his passing, that's your thing, but you shouldn't try to demand that everyone feel as cynical about the whole thing as you do.

"We are destined to do this forever." shouldn't be sad/weird at all. It's awesome.

Bob Kane is dead.
Bill Finger is dead.
Cesar Romero is dead.
Adam West will die
So will Bruce Timm, Frank Miller, Michael Keaton, Mark Hammil, etc.

But the BATMAN and the JOKER are destined to go at it forever.
It has nothing to do with Heath Ledger.
Batman...Joker...transcend human mortality.

I don't fully agree with all of your posts in here but I definitely agree with this one.

Not Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, but Batman and The Joker really are destined to do this forever. They've continue to do so after their creators died and Batman and Joker are destined to do this forever after the actors move on as well.

Heath was great, it's sad he's gone but the Joker will go on longer than him, longer than his creator, and longer than any of us.

The only part that got me sad was when Joker says "feels like we can do this forever"
cause when he says that line, thats when you realise that they cant ='[

I mean I would of so paid for B3 if it would of been another Batman vs Joker lol but damn.. it really sucks that we will never see Ledger as the J-man again he completely owned the role.

Matt!!!!!11 zomg!:woot::oldrazz:

You raaaang?

But really, I swear to God, if this board degrades into another "OMGZ1 Ledger changed my life! how can i live without heath ledger!?!" melo-drama fest as it was in January, I'm going to go into a Jay and Silent Bob-esque ass kicking session.

It's always awesome to hear from the mod with his own smiley icon posting on the batboards.

Now fetch my robes.

So did Jack Nicholson, so did Caesar Romero. They were all great Jokers for the time they were in, but the character will go on, someone else will play him, and fans will rave about him. But until then do any of you realize how damn disrespectful this is? A good majority of you are marginalizing a man's entire life and death to "I never get to see the Joker again." The man's 3 year old daughter will never know her father and you're upset because he can't play the Joker anymore? Its just a tad insensitive.

hmmm I don't really remember that, but on monday I'm seeing it again (lol).
I just find it hard to believe that just cutting a smile would kill the guy. =/

the is supposedly an artery or main vein there i think

But no, Matt...they feel like they KNEW him, as a person!
...'cause he played the Joker...and a dancing knight and a gay cowboy, see?

Was it insensitive when Nicholson was laughing after receiving the news of Ledgers death? Was it insensitive when the WBBC was protesting Heath's funeral simply because he played a gay character? We have barely touched on insensitive my friend. We are merely saddened because he gave such a great performance and this is the only time we will see a Joker of this magnitude. Sure others will come and go,but imo and im sure in the opinions of others everywhere, Heath's portrayal is always gonna be the top of the bar. Sure there are the people that just care about the film and just wish he was alive to do more. Then there are people like me, people who actually care, who feel saddened not just for the loss of a great Joker, but a great man, actor, and a father. I feel horrible for that little girl, not being able to know what a great guy her father was. And it is truly depressing to know that he died so young and left so much behind. But to call us insensitive because we loved his work so much, while there are others here being selfish, and making a mockery of his name, is truly in every sense of the word INSENSITIVE. I KID YOU NOT

Yeah there may be since the guy was just killed instantly with no screams and such. Still I may look it up in my paramedic books just to see if that is a possibility.

And guys, just chill about the body bag thing - I don't want the mods getting angry with the flames.

Lets not blow this out of proportion :hoboj:

I enjoyed reading all your view points though, thanks for responding to my thought question.
To those who didn't respond to the second question of how he killed the guy..
Do you think he gave him a chelsea grin or do you think he slit the guys throat to kill him instantly?
Any thoughts? It just seemed strange to me.

To intervene here, Jack did not laugh at the death of Heath Ledger, he simply said he warned him in context of prescription drugs he was taking. And that is in no way comparable to what the insidious people of West Boro claimed they would do. To compare Jack(who recently respectfully said Heath raised the bar in a recent newspaper) to those guys is ridiculous.

But I agree it's sad we'll never get to see him as the Joker again. Matt is only pointing out, there are far worse things. Like how Heath's daughter will grow up without a father.

Agreed.

i completely agree(i didnt hear about that Jack thing) But i simply hate it when people bring up something like that, calling someone insensitive,or childish because of an issue like this. i know i wasnt close to heath personally, but when someone like him that you've grown up watching, and loving passes away. you may not have been close but you do feel a great sense of loss because you know those fun times of enjoying their work is over. especially after seeing him portray perhaps the greatest comic villain, in such a big time movie, the fact that its the only time you can see it and remember it hits you alot harder. Im not saying i have more right to be upset than his family im simply saying that there are many many people who we and still are upset about his passing

Anyway, back to the topic presented in the thread title...I'm sure many people felt a stinking feeling in their stomachs by the time that scene rolled up...having gorged themselves on chili-cheese nachos and theater hot dogs and oily popcorn, etc....and I'm sure that stinking feeling escaped their bodies and inflicted itself upon the world later. :(

I'm sorry but it is bugging me. A mod should change it...a stinking feeling?
The idea makes me nauseous...like, how bad would it have to stink, that you'd actually feel the stink through all of those layers of fat?

Wooops!!

I'm so sorry for the typeo, lol I never noticed.

I'm so sorry

What's so wrong with mourning the death of a public figure? This has been done for centuries since the birth of civilization.

I changed it in my edit post, but on the spoiler forum it's still there.

I'm really sorry about that guys

*Mods when you get a chance, could you please fix it?

Matt: I think it's clear that most people admire Heath for more than his portrayal of the Joker. But that does not mean we can't also mourn the death of his interpretations as we know them.

How am I mocking people? I'm telling people to get a grip and be rational. And yes it really does bother me that these people are still mourning someone that they didn't know. If they were really concerned about a strangers welfare, wouldn't they mourn more than just an actor who played they Joker? Wouldn't they mourn complete strangers who were victims of fatal car accidents, or victims of murder ect ect? No, they mourn an actor because it's a fashionable thing to do. Every generation wants a martyr so people can draw attention to themselves and mourn and people are trying to make Heath Ledger this.

Again, I tell everyone to get a grip. He's dead. The world goes on.

uh yeah Batman and Joker will forever do there dance

but it hits you cause you wont see Bale & Ledger continue there battle. I will always be a Batman & Joker fan, but for now I dont see any one topping what they just did in this movie.
