We deserved soooo much more with these 3

It's hard to believe that the only time that Kassidy and Grant have ever had any scenes with each other where they exchange dialogue with one another is when she was playing Black Siren and not BC.

David Ramsey talks about the reaction to Black Canary's death

I don't know if the producers - I think that they did, I mean, I can't speak for them - but I don't know if anyone really expected as large a response as they - as we got from the fans. Um, at least I didn't expect it. And I'm not quite what the writers or producers expected. I'm sure they expected some. But it was a very large outpouring of grief really from the fans as well... So I'm not quite - I think they took some of that to heart and I'm not quite sure what's going to happen exactly with the Canary character, um, but they're listening...

So they are listening by introducing a brand new character to take up the mantle...???

If they think the fans just want A Black Canary, then they really don't get it at all. People were pissed they killed Laurel.

They really don't get the fans, they always think what they did is great but then the fans are not nearly as stoked as they think they wouldve been.

Yeah, it's not like she was Spock, you know...:whatever:

They probably thought Laurel was expendable after the reaction to her in the early seasons. We see how they made Felicity very important after all the love she received in the early seasons from lots of fans and she was arguably the most popular character back then. Now, after the negative reaction to Felicity and her relationship with Oliver in the recent seasons, they seem to be trying to fix both and hopefully that will continue, as it is working so far (although they did persist with it longer than they do most things that receive negative reactions, sadly). People are calling this the best season since the first two. Fans reactions are important to them.

In regards to Laurel, I guess the love from fans was too little too late. If fans showed as much love for her before as they do now I highly doubt she would be dead. I always thought that and Ramsey's words back that up. It seems the writers and producers are sensitive to fans feedback, and generally do try to fix things that get a bad reaction, and give us more of the things that fans react positively too. Even though the show is doing very well ATM, it doesn't feel the same without Laurel for me. Hopefully now they will bring her back and actually have something for her to do, like giving her own villain, or story that has her as the main focus.

If they don't plan on bringing Laurel back as the BC, and are planning to have someone else take up the mantle, maybe they think that is acceptable because in season 2 Sara was received very well and lots of people wanted her her to become BC and for them to kill Laurel. Maybe they think because of that reaction, people just want a badass BC, and it doesn't have to be anyone in particular, as long as they have a badass BC.

The thing is, its one thing to make Laurel's sister be the BC, and a completely different thing for someone unrelated to become the next BC.

I agree. I am sure BC fans will not be happy and that most people in general will be sceptical at best. I would be the same if they made Deathstroke someone other than Slade for example, or did similar with another character who is one of my very favourites.

If it actually turns out well, I think most people will go along with it though. I think most people just want to be entertained. Laurels diehard fans would still most likely be unhappy as they have been all this season, but if this actually works out, I imagine they will be drowned out by fans enjoying the show, as they, along with Felicity fans, have been so far this season. I wouldn't be surprised if it does turn out well, as it seems the writers are better at doing characters origin stories and journeys towards joining the team, but once they are in it, they do not seem to know what to do.

If I had my way, I would have them just admit their mistake and bring back Laurel though. After all the effort that was put into her "Island" or "Crucible", it really was a big waste killing her. The complete opposite of Guggenheims favourite word "organic". It would have been like killing Oliver in his last year on the island or in season 1, or Batman in Batman Begins, or early on in The Dark Knight.

So what are trying to say? That Spock isn't Laurel, or fans were pissed when he died in a MOVIE!

That the fan reaction was either underestimated or ill-perceived. And that brought us The Search for Spock.:cwink:

I am sure since she is going to be an original character they will put actual effort into making her work.

I remember reading or hearing the search for Spock was the middle movie in a planned trilogy.

The initial screening for TWOK did not have the 'Remember...' scene where Spock transfers his memories to McCoy. It was an added seen filmed after the prescreening audiences response to Spock's death. They didn't change the movie, but they added that little nugget to leave hope open for his return.

Don't be silly. It won't be a brand new character who takes up the "Black Canary" mantle, it will be an existing character. Namely ... Felicity!

Mild joking aside (although I wouldn't put it past them), since they actually scripted Laurel's dying wish as being for Oliver to replace her to ensure that there was a "Black Canary" on the team, I expect it to happen sooner or later.

I could maybe tolerate someone like Sin returning to join the team as "Black Canary". But, I can't really think of any other appropriate existing character (other than Sara who is busy being White Canary) and it would have to be a really well written character for me to ever want to see them become Black Canary.

Is she back because of flashpoint? That was a very nice surprise to see her.

Okay, I haven't seen the episode but I'm watching SA's live facebook video. So feel free to spoil me.

She appeared in the Arrow cave at the end of the episode and just said "hey Ollie", and the episode ended.

Two truths and a lie for the new episodes in 2017 from SA's post-episode FB live:
- there's going to be a boys-only roadtrip where they look for a woman
- there's going to be a resurrection
- something they dedicated earlier in the season is going to be destroyed

Well we already know which one is a lie

There are pics from the boys only trip and Laurel isn't coming back so her statue will most likely get destroyed, most likely by Siren

I wonder if Guggenheim can resist his urges and temptations like he did in the 100th episode to not kill her in the most painful and humiliating way imaginable.
