A few years back, a University of Cincinnati police officer shot and killed an unarmed black man. When news broke that he was acquitted, there was talk all around Clifton of businesses boarding up their windows and closing early. I worked at a bank and even we were told to close up and work out of different branches for the day.

We've literally been conditioned to know the drill.

If that police officer had been charged with another crime, he would have been in prison already. But of course he was acquitted for killing an unarmed black man, as that's a "get out of jail free" card for cops.

It's the procedural nature that makes the the anger all the more potent. So many of these people saying the "right things", who are doing it just waiting for the moment to pass. Like when a mass shooting happens. They don't care about the black lives. They don't care about the hurt and anger. They are performative for 5 minutes, waiting for it to pass and they can go back to not having to pretend anymore. The protests and riots become an inconvenience that forces them to perform just a little longer.

It couldn't possibly help. We have been told there are better ways of doing this, which clearly work. Which is why we are here, again.

This isn't like he had inappropriate relations with a minor or was caught trafficking cocaine across state lines, he was charged with killing an unarmed black man......it probably means he'll be acquitted.

That's circular logic. You say that the reporter got arrested because he wasn't doing "clean coverage." But then you say that "clean coverage" means "not getting arrested." Can you see the problem?

Also, CNN had two teams: One white reporter, one black reporter. The white reporter wasn't harassed at all.

CNN Center in Atlanta was besieged by protesters who broke some of its windows. The lobby was filled with riot cops. The reporter on the scene who was talking to Chris Cuomo had to run away because the lobby was filling with tear gas.
