and you base that on what? Keep in mind now that you're going against the I.G.'s report and the CIA director's own remarks.

It was based on her briefing she gave originally.
She fankly was REALLY discombobulated, not normal...she was lieing about something...only time will tell.

I always think of Michael Jackson now when I see her. Thanks Conan.

It's blatantly obvious that Pelosi has lied about what she knew. And honestly would anyone be surprised if the CIA did hide anything, it's the freaking CIA for crying out loud. There's always two sides of a story and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I'm so glad you guys can know what is in people's hearts. you really should profit from it. cops could just ask you if someone was guilty or not. we could do away with all those courts. all you'd need to do is watch a few minutes of video and bang we'd have the TRUTH with all the certainty in the world.

as for the CIA lying to congress that's against the law. Congressional oversight is mandated by the constitution in case you forgot.

The only thing is what Pelosi was talking about wasn't what the CIA and Panetta said they misled Congress about.

Huh

Seriously, what the hell is the point of defending scum like Pelosi. It's blatantly obvious that she lied to cover her own ass. However, it's not like everything she is saying is an absolute lie.

Yeah, it's illegal. But it's still the CIA, such behavior is expected from them, and they're never going to get in trouble for it :o

Sad, but that's the way it is.

Of course the CIA is never going to get in trouble for it. No one in DC has ever had a pair

I just can't get over you guys and your cognitive dissonance. One one hand the CIA lies with impunity.

and on the other Pelosi must be lying when she said the CIA lied to/misled her because she appeared nervous when talking about it. Now why would anyone be nervous about ratting the CIA out?

Damn woman, how dare she stand up for herself like that

*sarcasm*

I never said Pelosi was lying. Just that they're 2 different things.

It's all about expectations.

Nancy Pelosi is not only an elected official, but also the Speaker of the House and second in line of Presidential succession. We have a higher standard to elected officials, especially those in seats of actual importance and power like Pelosi is in. And dude, she pretty much got caught lying.

The CIA on the other hand is expected to be a bunch of *****ebags and do all sorts of covert illegal activities behind our backs. Sorta like Dick Cheney now that he's out of office. We expect him to be a fearmongering jerk-off in criticizing Obama's policies.

Now why would anyone be nervous about ratting the CIA out?
Because they're an organization with the power to **** you back harder if you **** with them. It's just common sense that you don't mess around with them.

Because Pelosi has lied about what SHE knows, based upon her OWN words, and refuse to back her claims when called upon it. Also, considering the fact that you are making a leap to believe her, by mixing apples (knowledge water boarding techniques) and oranges (CIA discontinuing an unrelated black ops program), demonstrates your emotional attachment to Pelosi the politician, rather than qualifiying the merits of the issue. That shows your level of "cognitive dissonance", since your emotions are clouding your judgment.

And quite frankly, the fact that you are insulting others for not agreeing with your position demonstrates that you lack the maturity to even bring up this discussion in the first place. So, do yourself a favor, and stick to reading comic books. It is less aggrivating for ya.

O.

The people that dislike Pelosi are going to side with her. The people that like Pelosi, or Obama or liberals in general are going to love to bash Bush's CIA and are going to side with her. Those that have no opinion on either aren't going to care.

I'm just surprised still that people were shocked when she said they lied to her and were even demanding and apology. Clearly you're not familiar with how the CIA operates..

Yes, Let's not let facts get in the way, Let us let our dislike for Pelosi and a baseless suspicion of how she spoke guide our opinion on whether or not the CIA lied.:whatever:

It's not basless. I mean there is evidence that she lied about what she said the CIA told her.

But again, this has nothing to do with the actions of the CIA - it's all about political affiliations. A figure like Pelosi is too polarizing for the discussion to be limited to simply the facts.

hmm you just contradicted yourself. on one hand you say we hold elected officials to a higher standard especially those with high office and then you turn around and say that Cheney is expected to lie too.

are we holding Pelosi to a higher standard than the v.p.?
why the double standard?

and the bit about her being nervous was sarcasm on my part.

really? evidence or he said -she said?
what hard evidence do you have?
transcripts of the briefings (from both parties) with dates and names of those involved so we can verify?

I find it totally believable they withheld info and misled them about a lot of the things going on.
mostly because of the man running the show and his incredulous history and disdain for oversight.
we know that Bush directed people under him to break the law.
he sent Card and Gonzo over to get Ashcroft to sign off on the wiretapping even though he knew he couldn't legally sign it as he had relinquished authority to the deputy and was under the influence of drugs and vulnerable from his treatments at the time. He instructed them to violate the law. let me repeat that. he instructed them to break the law. Ashcroft and the deputy refused.

is it a leap to think they wouldn't do the same to the CIA briefers?

and just for laughs, exactly why is Pelosi so polarizing? Doesn't that just automatically come with the job?
have we had a speaker that wasn't demonized by the other side?

I am talking about out of office Cheney. The Dick Cheney that isn't the Vice President. He isn't an elected official anymore.

When Cheney was in office, he needed to be held to a higher standard than Pelosi considering his position. Of course that didn't stop him from being a *****er.

Whever there is a hot button like this, I like to see how it pans out on both sides for a little bit, because there is manuvering by both sides of the issue.
