Fantasy Disney Developing Live-Action 'Snow White' (Exclusive)

This is actually getting good reviews. THR compiled a bunch.

The point is that these reactors that get early access don't typically have the same journalistic standards as real critics. Studios give them access because it's usually free positive publicity. Their enthusiasm might be genuine, but they know better than to bite the hand that feeds them.

There was a pretty negative reaction on there as well, to be fair.

I mean, reactions skewing more positive than the actual reviews is not a new concept. These reactors want to keep getting invited to advance screenings, so they temper their response if they’re not in love with the movie.

That said, I haven’t read Snow White’s reactions so I have no clue where it falls on the spectrum, but there are degrees of forced positivity that become fairly easy to read if you wade through enough of these things. Cap 4’s lukewarm reactions were transparent as hell, for example. The Rotten critics score was far from a surprise there.

Marc Webb's career slump continues.
*does a quick google*

How is this the first time I’m finding out about this???

I thought they just got some lesser known, work-for-hire journeyman director to make this. I never in a million years would’ve pegged him as the director for this, because his signature style is nowhere to be found in any of the footage or clips that have been released. Completely subsumed by their typical, generic, corporate, cookie-cutter, current in-house style.

Tells me everything I need to know about this film.

"Signature style?" Webb's always been a journeyman director. He's the go-to guy for being a studio yes man. The only notable film he's ever done (500 Days of Summer) is deeply problematic, and it's incredibly telling that he hasn't done anything remotely interesting in the last fifteen years. I'm not at all surprised that he's ended up doing what might be one of the worst of these gross and unnecessary remakes.

His first Spider-Man movie is underrated and I think works better as a film than any of the MCU ones. (Maybe cause the Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone chemistry is so strong).

But he’s also someone who cannot handle studio interference as also witnessed with his second terrible Spider-Man movie.

People still don't realize the protagonist is the bad guy.

Man I’m sorry, but that movie was boring as hell and a chore to get through.

Garfield and Stone’s chemistry was the only redeeming quality about it IMO.
