I can't stand hearing people who have jobs complain about their jobs when I'm getting rejected after every interview.
Good luck with your job hunt Squirrel

just because someone has a job doesn't mean the conditions are great
The one who doesn't have the thing, sees the blessings of it more, and the pain of it less

A wise man once said, "the world can always use another bartender".

Speaking of jobs, I hate whenever someone else at a job tells you how to run yours, when you're perfectly aware of how to do your job in the first place.

I feel the pain. I always see people on Facebook complain how they hate working, but right now, I could really use the work. Its been one year since I graduated and I'm really starting to feel the pressure of still not having a job, especially since I don't really have much else to show from this past year other than a few paintings that I sold.
Some REALLY bad jobs can literally kill you from stress. Although having no income and running out of money is stressful too....
True, and I can understand it coming from people who feel stuck in their job. But at least for others, they can still look for a new job while still having the security of a paycheck from their current job. I've learn how to save and spend money wisely in the past year, but life always has unexpected incidents, and those can be both crippling and stressful when you realize that lack of finances kills options that you could have had.

Exactly. I have a friend who worked in a Starbucks at Barnes and Noble and hated it, but she's finally quitting now that she has a better job. But I gladly would've taken that job given that I have nothing right now.

That's what I'm doing, and I'm EXTREMELY lucky that I have a boss who understands that I'm going to leave the field, and will need to take classes during the day in order to move on. I never ever ever complain about my boss. I would be the biggest brat ever if I did. Not everyone is as lucky as I am, not by a long shot. I'm not going to squander it.

I DO complain about machines in the lab that break, and thus block my ability to do good work for my amazing boss though. :funny:

My sister was willing to take on a job at Starbucks if it came down to it, and she has two degrees from an Ivy League. Your pride isn't as important as your ability to pay the rent!

Very unwise
The world will be much better without that poison

I don't drink alcohol & definitely not an alcoholic, but I never preach or judge to people who do, it's not my place to do so, that I leave to the "Man Upstairs".

I don't judge the people, just against the thing

That's why I don't drink alcohol. :oldrazz: But it's not my business what other people do, as long as they aren't hurting other people.

No, you're judging the people. There's nothing wrong with the thing.

Hell, alcohol pretty much helped society grow and thrive back in the day because it provided a safe alternate to drinking dirty/contaminated water.

If you really don't, I commend you for that

Homer Simpson said it best
To alcohol, the cause of all our problems, and their solution
I'm sure the script writers know something

Hell, alcohol pretty much helped society grow and thrive back in the day because it provided a safe alternate to drinking dirty/contaminated water.
Now they have clean water, they can let go of alcohol

I'm sure the script writers were going for a joke.

God forbid people have the freedom to choose how to live their lives and enjoy themselves.

To be fair, if you drink too much and get behind the wheel, I'm TOTALLY JUDGING YOU. :cmad: And alcohol is a poison in some of the concentrations we drink it in. We use the equivalent of 140-proof vodka in the lab to sterilize our workspace. "Sterilizing" meaning, "killing all the cells in that area." It's very good at it.

But in moderation, totally your choice. Your liver can take it. Everything is a poison if you consume too much of it. Just that the amount that's harmful does vary depending on the substance. :oldrazz:

And your observation about it being a safer alternative to contaminated water in the old days is correct. Although that doesn't mean alcohol is a BETTER alternative to water in its essence. :oldrazz:

If you really don't, I commend you for that
It's not that hard. It's expensive and I hate the taste. :oldrazz:

I've finally found something I hate, besides the taste of alcohol. I want to go into healthcare user experience design (basically, making apps and services for the healthcare field) and healthcare has this thing called "patience compliance." Basically it's telling the patient, "You're too stupid to take care of yourself, so we'll have to somehow MAKE you do it like a trained monkey."

I hate that term now. With the fire of a thousand suns. :cmad:

I judge people who drink, especially if their life revolves around alcohol. My dad's father was an abusive alcoholic, so growing up alcohol was a big no-no in my family. Plus being in a hit and run car accident by a drunk driver kinda reinforces my viewpoint.

I watched this the other day and thought it was really good...
Taboo: U.S. of Alcohol
http://natgeotv.com.au/tv/taboo-us-of-alcohol/

Try explaining how alcohol helps society now to the night crew of the ER after watching that.

I hate when you plan a week vacation months ahead of time only to find out that the weather will be crappy on that week.

I don't drink alcohol, but in the past year in a half I came into contact with a lot of people at school that would drink often. My issue changed on the matter to not accepting it, to accepting it if that's what others choose to do. My real issue is when they try to force me to join and look down on me for not participating. My philosophy soon became "I don't tell you to stop, so don't tell me to start."

With that said, I do think people need to be more responsible with themselves because its all fun and games until someone gets hurt. And drinking is no excuse to be an *******.

That's what I'm doing, and I'm EXTREMELY lucky that I have a boss who understands that I'm going to leave the field, and will need to take classes during the day in order to move on. Yeah, I have a friend who worked somewhere in a hospital at a desk job and he hated it because he would work long hours and would always get called in on his day off. We used to say they were working him like a slave, and he hated it but he stuck with it until he finally got a new, better job in the city. And he was also able to finally move out with his girlfriend. So while he hated the treatment, it was worth it in the end since it helped him buy some time before moving forward.

Yeah, that's how I was with college. I went to one of the best high schools in NYC, but because I slacked off with my college stuff and I dropped out of the State University that I was originally going to go to, I settled for the college that was right next to my house. At that point I knew I needed to be in some school or else I would be in real trouble.

I hate that my car requires $1200 in repairs. I bought the car in February for $3000. I'm pretty ****ing enraged right now.

That sucks. You should've had a mechanic check it out before buying it or at least gotten a car fax report on it.

Sooooo....how do you guys feel about drinking? :oldrazz:

Honestly, here's what I think about drinking. I'll have a couple of beers and maybe a shot or two but I don't see the point of getting plastered. I really don't. I'm probably what you call a social drinker. I don't sit at home having beers while watching Wheel of Fortune alone. If thats your thing, cool, I'm not judging but it's not what I do. Also, don't be *******s and try to force me to drink more than I want. Peer pressure is cool in high school, not so much anymore.

Also, for the "Alcohol is poison!" crowd. For every drunk *******s, there's 20 people who drink and don't destroy their lives or the lives of others.

My whole thing about alcohol is how it changes certain people. Like part of the reason why I stopped hanging around with most of my friends was because on any given day, at any given time, I couldn't tell whether they were sober or they had been drinking. For me that was always a problem because I always try to be myself and open and honest with people regardless of how well I know them, so I expect the same from others. But it was hard to tell things like whether they were happy around me because they enjoyed my company or if it was because the alcohol made them very cheery. Like I never really knew where their heads were at and how honest they were being at times, so it just made me uncomfortable. Same thing around girls who I couldn't tell whether they were flirting with me because they liked me or if it was the alcohol making them like that.

I know alcohol is supposed to take away your inhibitions and make you feel loose and less tense, but when it gets to the point where you feel like you need a drink to be a certain way, then its a problem. Like after two of my friends broke up, the girl starting drinking more because she felt like that was the only way to dull the pain, but it never made the problem go away and it only got worse for her.

I hate when people look at a newborn baby and can already tell how much they look like the mother or father.

How can you already tell just by looking at a shriveled wrinkly little face who's facial features haven't developed yet?
