I hate that I have to take my mom to the Mayo Clinic on Tuesday. Doctors found a growth on her only remaining kidney. Cancer took the other one 3 years ago. I am bummed.

Damn, sorry to hear that Matt. :csad: I hope everything goes smoothly.

Me too. She's really down about the whole thing, but I told the doctors should be able to take the crap kidney out, toss in one of my decent kidney's and everyone can go about their merry way. That's probably wishful thinking though.

I think kidney transplants are a lot less difficult than transplant of most of the other organs, because you can have a living donor. But yeah, it'll be a long journey ahead. Best of luck!

Holy crap, I'm really sorry. I've spent the whole day feeling sorry for myself because of some petty problem and this really puts things in perspective. I hope things work out, Matt. My uncle had a liver transplant a year ago and he's doing okay now. I would also hope everyone who reads this considers being an organ donor after death. You don't need those things where you're going, but a lot of sick people do.

Thanks. Doctors haven't confirmed anything so I'm going forward under the notion that it's nothing, but she's had cancer twice before, so it's certainly troubling.

Hope everything turns out OK, Matt, God willing.

I hate Tom & Jerry short films, and I hate more that I was entertained by them for years. This is a list of what they did with them:
The invader of your house is one to be treated nicely or you are evil?
Usually, the invader is the true hero and nice chap? And the one with the right to be in the house is a predator
Films end with the invader winning?
Make peace? Learn to share with the invader? Give the invaders their rights?

I'm not looking deep into them, that's not sub-context, it's straight to the face. I hate invaders, and I hate making them look entertaining and humorous. I hate Tom & Jerry shorts, and I hate everything like them

No, you're reading too deeply into them. The whole point in the Tom & Jerry cartoons is to derive humor by reversing the expectations of predator and prey. It's the triumph of the little guy against the aggressive predator through sheer cunning. It's the exact same appeal as the Sylvester/Tweety cartoons, and neither character is an "invader" in that scenario.

Sylvester and Tweety is predator and a cunning prey
Tom and Jerry is pie in the face

Tell me, did you come to this conclusion yourself, or did someone who is in many ways like-minded to you give you the idea that Tom & Jerry was about glorifying invaders? Because people who infer that kind of message out of a cartoon like Tom & Jerry usually have an agenda.

Yeah. I think you're reading too much into Tom and Jerry, Aziz. It's just slapstick humor gained from the mouse kicking the cats ass instead of the reverse. I don't think that the creators were thinking too deeply about it beyond that. They were probably too high at the time to have a political agenda.

No agenda, I just watch it like I read comics, to be entertained, and what is displayed in Tom & Jerry is pie to the face kind of there
Don't know how you think I'm digging to deep

You're reading political propaganda out of a cartoon about a cat chasing a mouse. I don't have a dictionary at hand, but I'm pretty sure that's one of the definitions of digging too deep.

How is Jerry an invader anyway? He lives there too.

Was probably there before Tom.

I like the use of the term "invader" there. It really evokes the idea that there are deep personal issues just below the surface.

Rodents invade the house, invade the food
Their extermination is salvation

Dude, it's just a simple premise of Cat&Mouse that turned into a cartoon.

I hate Hospital shows and Lawyer shows.

The last two places you want to find yourself is a hospital or a courtroom,so why would I want to sit there and watch it for an hour?:oldrazz:
