I think that some people saying that aren't quoting Futurama, nor have they seen Futurama. Those people are just being emo.

Most of the people I've heard say it have never heard of Futurama. It is just something they've seen on the internet and have adopted it.
I think we should start telling them to get their ass to Mars. They probably wouldn't get that it's from Total Recall, but we can start up a new emo meme called "We're going to Mars!"
I generally hate dream sequences in movies and tv shows. It's just a lazy way to throw some foreshadowing in when the writers can't think of a better way to do it.
