I hate people who don't tip their baggers

If I had everyone tip me back at my old grocery job I would be rich.

if they get a pay check and that's part of their job then i dont care so much

but where i work, baggers are contractors, they make no salary and only make tips. everyone knows this, there's signs and stuff and ppl still refuse to tip. irritates me cuz i know how hard they work. i was a bagger once

I hate baggers who just randomly start packing my bags.

Ah.

That's weird, I never seen that policy before in my life.

Plus, even if you do put signs up, it wouldn't matter.

One thing I've learned over my many years in working with the public is that people don't read s**t. :o

Most grocery stores here have a bagger with a tip jar. I generally pack my own bags because they always do a crappy job.

But sometimes they don't even ask, they just start packing. Hell if I'm going to tip someone for a service I didn't ask for. :o

Ohhh, another reason why New York Sucks I guess. :o :p

well where i work it's not a typical grocery store and most orders are minimum 100.00. we do 100k in sales on a slow day. biggest single order i remember seeing today was 1100.

if you want to do your own bagging, by all means. i just dont think its right for someone to expect the bagger to spend 10 minutes bagging their 400 dollar order for free.

I've never heard of such a thing. I used to work as a bagger and only got a tips by helping old ladies load the groceries into their cars.

Where I used to work (Kroger), getting tips would be a miracle. Every now and then I would get a buck or two in tips (we get to keep them) but the most I got from one person was $5. However there was this old lady, who was rude as hell, that always tip in cents. That always bugs me.

Only time i've ever seen a bagger it was some volunteer boyscouts. And I was so surprised by it, I thought they were just kids stealing my food, and I tried to grab my stuff back off them.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but that's just how cynical this countries gotten! :funny:

Which is why management should be paying the baggers. It's not fair to say that you're getting paid in tips only for a position that's not usually tipped.

We never tip baggers. Baggers don't exist, really; the clerks/cashiers do it. Frankly, if you're getting paid minimum wage you shouldn't be getting tipped for something most people would rather probably want to do, themselves, seeing as how most who are smart enough to run a cash register in my town aren't smart enough to know that you bag like items together, eggs and meat solely (or with something light like bread on top, in the case of eggs,) and double-bag medium-large bottles of liquid, like 2-liter sodas, especially when you have more than one in the bag. But, you know, most of these people can't make simple change without the cash register, so, I shouldn't be surprised. Some of the several reasons why we always use self-check-out isles.

We (Kmart cashiers) do the bagging ourselves too. I find self-check-out isles confusing...

I like using the self check out registers. I've been getting $10 - $15 off coupons if you spend $50 or $75 depending on the store.

What I do, is I buy enough items that I need especially if they are on sale or part of their Price Plus/Store Card and get the total to be $50 - $75.

Then I take off the $10, then scan my price plus card and enter the other coupons which brings me down and I save quite a bit of money.

But I tend to do this only in the self check out.

This is bagging 101, yet that's not what happens when people are stores bag for me. :(

Yeah, they're like private bathrooms; you can feel comfortable doing more things in them. :yay:

What is it about self check out lines that brings people's IQs down? Its like the minute they start to scan their ****, they turn into a complete ******. "Ohhhh, I'm supposed to put it in the bag after I scanned. I thought I was supposed to put it back in my basket with all the other **** I haven't scanned yet. Ohhhh, you're supposed to put the dollar bills in that slot, strange, cause I want to use my credit card. Can you use your credit card here".

:argh:
