Duncan Jones' Warcraft - Part 3

The Mario movie is good fun as an Elseworlds adaptation.

i saw it earlier tonight and i enjoyed it probably 6.5/10 a decent fun fantasy film i made a mistake in going to see this the day after i saw the battle for winterfell nothing in this film compared lol

The Mario movie is an abomination. Even as a child I knew that it was trash.

I loved the worldbuilding in that one. The characters weren't great and the production was a horror show by all accounts. But it gave us a very fun world.

Little Darth loved that movie, and had a big crush on Daisy. I watched it again recently, and I couldn't hate it. Just too much nostalgia. :funny:

9 year old SPIDEY was already totally over such crap. :funny:
Yeah. Lol

The funny thing is the cast wasn't bad but the movie is inexplicably starring Luigi and I think John Leguizamo was miscast anyway.

I use to fight to not have to play Luigi in the early 90's. No offense, I like Luigi in the American version of SMB 2 (AKA, reskinned Doki Doki Panic) and I even dug Luigi's Mansion but Luigi was always The Supremes to Mario's Diana Ross. How did they allow him to lead a Mario Brothers movie? It defies logic.

:woot:

I still can't believe they had a year of Luigi, but ignored the 30 year anniversary of Metroid. :funny:

Since Duncan Jones has said that like 40 minutes was apparently cut out of this film, I wonder if an extended cut would help solve (or at least smooth out) some of it's issues. I mean one of the films biggest issues, if not it's biggest issue period, is it's pacing/not immersing you in this world properly if you're not already a Warcraft fan. Also a lack of development/fleshing out of certain characters (especially on the human side).

So maybe the longer cut would make that work better. Hopefully we get an extended cut on Blu-ray eventually.

i will agree with what alot of people saying ben foster was miscast it wasn't even his age since the character isn't some old man in the games

but ben just looked like he was playing dress up he was much more believable when he was evil

I hope so, I'd love to see the longer cut of this and BvS in a cinema, not just at home.

I've only seen a couple of scenes of Super Mario when it was on TV. Looked totally terrible, I can only immagine how bad the whole movie was.

I also liked the first Mortal Kombat, it was pretty fun and irreverent.

I also liked the first Resident Evil film, but that series ran way too long.

I think that Assassin's Creed will be the first huge hit for a movie based on a video game. It seems to have perfectly captured the spirit of the game, but it's something that the general audience will flock to as well.

Which movie will make money at the box office when it's all said and done or Warcraft?

I personally think Assassin's Creed by a mile!

Well I liked the movie. To ME, it was more like a bunch of the little "movies" you see between each level in RPG's..
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the look of it all, but the script needed help.

It's less of a film and more like a really bland video game you can't play

lothar felt like he was in a different movie since he was the only human with personality lol

Super Mario, Dennis Hoppers least favorite movie.
Ditto for Bob Hoskins.

Is it true that Warcraft needs to make 500m to break even???

This is what The Numbers says:

Warcraft was pushed into second place with $42.0 million in 57 markets for totals of $339.0 million internationally and $372.3 million worldwide. The film's biggest market is China, where it added $24.34 million over the weekend for a 13-day total of $205.37 million. That was still enough for first place in that market, but it was also 63% lower than its opening weekend there. Its biggest new market of the weekend was Mexico, where it managed second place with $2.68 million. It also opened in second place in Australia with $2.50 million on 430 screens. The film won't last much longer in China and might earn more in China than the rest of the world combined. Since studios only get about 25% of the Chinese box office, the film might not break even any time soon.

I kinda liked Khadgar. I would like to see how they evolve the character in future installments. He could very well be the only character we follow throughout the entire film franchise. Or Thrall I suppose.

He was the only one that felt like an actual avatar of a WoW player, lol.

So no sequel

That's a bit of exposure of the myth of the magical big overseas grosses. Studios don't get as much money back on those returns.
