Wich ones? The 9 out of 10 or the 4 out of 10? You realize that ACTUAL critics have been wrong before, right? I mean, they are not valid just when you agree with them. Marvel should NOT listen to critics. Never. Ever. Thats how garbage is made. Take them in consideration, perhaps, but never listen to them. They should be true to themselves. Success is not breaking box office records and getting theyre asses critically kissed. Success is making a great movie. That should be theyre goal.

The one thing they should NEVER do is making a movie I SEE SPIDER would like. Or anyone else fior that matter.

Listening to critics isn't the only reason that garbage gets made. Even if Marvel don't listen to critics, they're still very capable of making crap movies.

As for the box office itself, I think anything more than A1's box office at this point is very ambitious given the competition coming up, especially with Mad Max getting rave reviews.

I wonder how Marvel and Disney feel. On one hand, they are making a truck load of money. On another, I think it is falling under their expectations, especially with their investment here. This movie probably ended up costing a lot more then TASM2. Any chance that all said and done, they didn't spend well over $500m?

The Amazing Spider 2 cost around 350-375 mil to produce and market.
It got its money back by making 709 mil WW. Reports suggesting otherwise are complete BS without any evidence.

Avengers AOU cost is 250 mil per boxofficemojo & 280 mil per wiukipedia.

Im guessing it cost more than 300 mil if we take into account the Robert Diva Jr full paycheck. Put another 100 mil or so to market we re getting to 400-425 mil if not more for the total costs. it broke even when it hit 800-850 mil ww.

You can pay an entire cast for 3 avengers movies with the amount Robert Diva Jr gets.

How pathetic he is i dont get it.

Just realize that if all avengers cast demanded 75 mil per flick WE WOULDNT GET ANY AVENGERS MOVIE.

No studio will ever greenlight a 600 mil production budget for any movie.

We re lucky Chris Evans , Chris Hemsworth , Scar Jo and S.L. Jackson have some dignity and self respect unlike Diva jr.

RDJ is a vampire , a parasite feeding of the CB mythos. A greedy opportunistic sob.

Just wait and see when they recast him and the new Iron Man film makes a ton of money. Then come back to me and tell me he is the sole reason for those boxoffice numbers. (btw anyone remember The judge ? )

P.S. AoU should get the most expensive film produced title courtesy of Bob Diva punior.

The results were worse than that:

It made less than a 100 million profit.

The situation with RDJ always seemed a little odd, while he's offered a lot, it doesn't seem like he's the one asking for it, i remember that some time after Avengers, Hemsworth was trying to ask as much money as RDJ got, and other actors were feeling underpaid, and that then, RDJ was able to convince Marvel to give him a little less and a slight boost to the salaries of the other actors.

I basically have lost all faith in the critics, Just look at Fury Roads Rating..98%?
Really? 98%?...I saw it last night it was a good movie, but by any stretch of the imagination it does not rise to the level of 98%....
The same old tired faults that they bring up with any other action movie are suddenly ignored and presented in glowing praise...
Just be consistent is all I ask....
I will say it again Fury Road is good, but not 98% good ...It has its flaws...

98% doesn't imply that a film is good. It just means nearly all reviewers thought it was at least ok. You could get 100% without any good reviews.

Exactly. At least try to understand what the score means.

Can you honestly say the action in Fury Road is anything like what's come before it?

Although the average rating of 8.8 for Mad Max is insane. I'll definitely check it out at some point, very intrigued.

I hope you do realize that the percentage in RT is not about quantifying a movie. It's literally how many people rated it fresh in the total sample size of reviews. Do the math: 206/210 = 98%.

The better indicator of movie quality is the average rating since it takes all reviews' ratings into consideration and that's 8.8 at the moment.

Road Warrior laid the groundwork for what you see in Fury Road.

A LOT Of the Marvel films have benefited from excellent release dates that have left wide open windows to perform if they had even a modest opening. (Some incredible openings) As well as other films under performing against them. It really is a testament to the brilliant release dates.

It feels like Phase 2 has a lot of goodwill from Avengers 1, momentum definitely has been on their side. It seems like some of that goodwill has finally started to wear a little as it has winded down. While still having huge openings, I think we won't see the real results of Phase 2 until we reach Phase 3. Ant-Man/Dr Strange/Thor 3 will be interesting.

I think other studios are also adjusting their strategies against big Marvel films. I can see them trying their hardest to jump on these big Marvel openings with strong brands themselves. Ant-Man has Pixels, SouthPaw, and MI6 hot on it's tail.

This weekend will be something new for a big May Marvel film with 2 potential breakouts going head to head against it. It feels like Summer come early.

A2 strikes me as similar to MOS's run with a much bigger opening. 1-2 Weeks to itself with mixed/good WOM, with a decent run until big competition came and really began chewing away at its legs.
I believe Ant Man is still considered part of phase 2.

I still think Star Wars is going to do better than this movie in the end. It has the original cast back and is more of a novelty than seeing the Avengers together again. Also, I think AOU seemed to hit all the same beats as the first film. It wasn't perhaps different enough, like Winter Soldier was from the First Avenger, and clearly exceeding it in every way.
I believe Star Wars stands a good chance of being the American Sniper of 2015.
In the sense that it will premiere near the end of the year and become the biggest hit of 2015 in short order.

Deadline initial forecast for AoU of $37m in 3rd behind Pitch Perfect and Mad Max.

The Deadline estimates are pretty close to what ISS predicted.
She was spot on with that one .

I loved Mad Max, but it only got a B+ cinemascore rating. I think some people might be upset that Max is not the lead character in the movie. Visually the movie is amazing, it's eye candy extrodinare, but it's funny that the cinemascore is so low, because the user ratings seem to be right up there with the critic ratings.

B+ is really low! Shows that the GA, critics and fans can all see films very differently. I really want to see what everyone is going on about though, haven't seen critic ratings so high for a film like this for a good while.

This is why I think Marvel should consider April and not May as the month to launch their blockbuster movies. This year, April had virtually no huge movies except for Furious 7, but here in May we already have Mad Max and Pitch Perfect 2 competing against AOU in the third week of the month.

I think a lot of people were probably turned of to the fact that Max is a sidekick in this film and that a film marketed to guys has some heavy feminist overtones to it. Not that they don't support women's rights, but I think alot didn't expect the heavy overtones of this film.

I totally get why the critics liked this and rated it so high. The shots, the way they were framed, very Spielberg like and reminded me a lot of Raiders of the Lost Arc. Very practical effects heavy.

Cinema score means nothing, Inception got a B+ and had great legs, that last Dracula film got an A- and didn't have good legs. Mad Max could have horrible legs for all I know but Cinema Score will not be the reason why.

You sound like a pathetic baby. :funny:

Your response to my post was a failure.

The box office shakeup makes me wonder how Tomorrowland will fit into all of this
I Hope that it does well.

I do too. Disney proper needs a live action hit, after Lone Ranger and John Carter. They do great with the animated films (with the exception of Mars Needs Moms), they suck at making live action films, if it weren't for Marvel the last few years, they'd be in serious trouble.

Looking at the release date, I'm almost certain Starwars will own the domestic crown this year. Though the hunger games finale is a dark horse, shame I already know what the second half of that (book) movie entails. Catching Fire really was destined to be their strongest one, but splitting their shortest and arguably weakest book into two...I digress. I think american audiences will feed star wars all throughout that first quarter. Especially if the movie is good(and has an ending).
