Episode 09 - "Homecoming" - Discussion Thread

I think Peter needs to be aware of someones power in order to use it. He knows his brother can fly, he can figure out how to tap into that power. Regeneration kinda happens on its own. If he had known what Sylar was capable of, the fight woulda been better. But he did what he thought was right, and going ove the edge of the bleachers seemed like the right way to end it. I wasn't expecting an epic fight, but i think it was good for what it was. You know later on Peter is gonna find out what people are capable of, and start thrashing people.

thankyou batman. what about the waitress' name and was she in last nights ep
Her name is Charlie. And she was only shown at the very end of the episode, when Hiro arrived at the same diner where she was killed by Sylar. Six months into the past.

I re-watch the episode tonight and it did looked like Peter used Sylar's power to fight off those flying locker doors.

Anyways ... I have a question.

What are the chances that Jackie was the cheerleader that needed to be saved ? What if she was related to a powerful person of some sort. Like Mr. Lieberman, or whatever his name is, for instant. And after this tragic event he's declares war on the "supers".

Idk ... just a thought.

Of course I'm going by the fact how she doesn't have a last name or that one wasn't mentioned. Then again she probably does have one and I just missed it somehow. Or she probably didn't have one to begin with. :o

I don't think she was important enough to have a last name. We're just supposed to hate her because she hates Claire :p

I doubt it was her that was supposed to be saved... I mean, if it wasn't for Peter distracting Sylar, then Claire would never have made it out alive. So he saved the cheerleader, now I can't wait to see how she saves the world.

looks as though peter keeps the power he absorbs for a little while. nice.

Great ep. Awesome lydo.

I believe somehow Hiro has saved Charlie. Ok I want to believe Hiro has saved Charlie. I thought they had great chemistry. And him and Ando still have to get to the high school so they can 'pose' for Isaac's painting in front of the blood spattered Homecoming banner, with that 'WTF happened here' look on their faces.

I love the paintings. I wonder if prints will become available?

sylar must make carving a turkey quick and simple. buahah

Her last name was Wilcox.

I rewatched the final scene with Claire and I'm wondering does she also have "spider-sense" now? LOL she could tell there was something wrong just from the lights going out.

yup, sadly he won't do any carvings this thursday :(

So what are Sylars powers? This was my 1st episode into the show. It was neat but i require some recapp any where i can go for that?

he has some telepathic power. along with flying and one more thing.

I don't think Sylar can fly, i think his power is mostly telekinesis.

^ thats the word i was looking for.

so technicaly flying falls into that, as he can levitate himself with his thoughts.

Whatever happened to the Sylar steals powers theory?

Sylar has a freezing power
Sylar has a magnetic power
Sylar has increased strength
Sylar has some kind of movement power that makes a 'whoosh' sound.

Everything he's done falls under those three things... if he had uberTK, then it wouldn't be so.

Freezing power how?

Uber TK can imitate magnetic and flying. Heck it can imitate strength too. Wasn't Supergirl Matrix all telekinesis? Even her superstrength and invulnerability was TK.

I heard someone say that maybe sylar attacked a family of heroes with someone with freezeing power and the frozen body was as a result of the struggle. Or its just a high-end form of TK / slowing molecules.

The FBI agent and Matt will ofcourse come to the scene, as the girl was killed, and therefore, the FBI will show up. Sylar is a wanted serial killer, and now the FBI will have Matt and Peter...wonder what Nathan will do NOW (I dislike him, btw). HRG might wanna flex, since Peter knows about Claire.

The Haitian's (btw, he's really Haitian, in response to someone concern about the PC aspects of not naming him the black dude...that and the fact that DL is as well, so how would you differientiate...I digress) abilities are a mystery to me at this point...i thought maybe he's a bit of a n-power...ie...he backlashes on those trying to use their ability...but the sylar takedown was confusing.[/quote

The Haitian seems to have some kind of psychic ability. He removed memories from Matt, Ted, and football jerk (can't remeber his name). He apparently caused Matt and Ted to black out in their respective bars. Also, Matt couldn't read his thoughts.

As for the Sylar takedown, my theory is that Sylar was resisting Eden. Remember, she said the bit about "you need to go to sleep" twice. So while Sylar was concentrating on Eden, the Haitian grabbed him and knocked him (Sylar) out, the same way he knocked out Ted and Matt.

P.S. They reeeaaally need to give the Haitian a name!

Finally got around to watching it last night and I must say awesome

I think she's just watched enough horror movies to know that when you're alone (okay, Jackie was there) in a building and the lights go out something VERY BAD is going to happen :woot: .
