Imagine that with a scarred side. Ain't it a beauty.

Utter perfection. A two-sided coin like this would be quite a rarity, the perfect excuse to carry one as a good-luck charm, especially if it were a gift from family... :)

I would actually love for the scene in the movie where he gets scarred to go completely silent. You just see him screaming and freaking out and writhing in pain in the courtroom but all you hear is a Bale voice-over saying that exact line.

Exactly!

Nothing but heavy breathing, his screams, and a little ambience as Harvey falls to the floor in agony and begins writhing in pain. All focus should be on him as if that very moment could end the world.

The first few screams are just instinctive reactions to something suspect; his body knows that the chemical agent doesn't belong but the distress signal hasn't quite reached the brain. Then, it finally settles in.

...

"UHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHH!"

And we get a very brief glimpse of a bloodshot eye peering almost lifelessly through the spacing of two fingers. The camera slowly zooms out, the sounds begin to muffle, and we ultimately see tragic sorrow upon the face of Bruce Wayne.

"I will never forget the sound of his screams..."

Of course, by Bruce saying this makes it past tense and an eye-witness account. So he'd have to have been in the courtroom at one point or another...and it would have to be a memory or flashback of some sort.

Perhaps, for publicity reasons, he was there in good faith showing his support for an election favorite and the ever strengthening justice system that will bring Gotham back from the ashes of anarchy? -or so he thought...

heres how i see it...Maroni gives it to harv just before a trial.

Maroni "here, harv. have my lucky coin...Im sure you'll need it" the coin is then handed to harv. the coin has been "scared" on side before he hands it to him...most likey off camera at some point in time.

harv. doesn't think about the coin after he puts it in his pocket...then after the trial and the acid throwing and the hospital....harv. takes his clothes from the closet at the hospital..is face half cooked. and maybe a lil ode to the joker shot..in 89 (where he geeks out over his face) and his puts on his suit and "re-discovers" the "lucky" coin in his pocket..this only adds to the crazyness going on with in Harvs. head....then this brings us to the supposed part where "apollo"** is in a bar shooting up gang members and ect. (the gang members are maroni's men.) and "apollo"**..in a fit of rage is looking for the man who gave him the "lucky" coin

**I feel that two face should be played as someone with a split personality..and he uses the coin to make a decition when fighting with his other half...also I feel that the other personality should be Harvey's old nick name from the comicbooks of the early 70's (i believe) which would be Harvey Apollo Dent. Apollo would be the grizzly side and Harvey..would be..well...the DA HARVEY. this is the way i have always seen twoface played out but no one in the comics has EVER played him that way. too bad

I am familiar with Face using a double head sided half dollar. Does he use any other kind of coin in different comics or is it always the two sided half dollar?

It's an interesting idea, but I personally see Harvey differently. "Apollo" being the ugly side is interesting since he is usually portrayed as beautiful so that would be kinda weird and confusing.

Also, I always liked the idea that when harvey actually becomes Two Face, he is much more at peace with himself. Like you said, the coin makes all his tough decisions. While this would be much like a split personality, the sides would hardly ever conflict with each other as their is always the coin to make the decision.

IMO Harvey pre-two face should be in much more turmoil mentally than after the acid incident. That is where Harvey still has those feeling of murder and darker thoughts of vengeance, but has to actually fight them off himself instead of using a simple coin.

It's funny because while I obviously prefer my way, I easily see how your ideas work too. It's interesting how the character can be portrayed in so many different ways.

That's why Batman Forever is such a disaster, so much could have been done with the character...

In The Long Halloween, he is in the courtroom when it happens and he says that as it happens, present tense. The only thing that might seem weird is the inner monologue randomly placed in the movie.

Yeah, that's what I was mainly referring to. But then again, it mostly depends on how they go about doing the scene. I mean, it's a pretty big event in the further development of a major character so I'd assume that they'd devote an entire scene to it rather than allude to such things using flashbacks.

Although, having him say that line present tense makes him seem preoccupied with himself rather than what he had just witnessed; as in, it kind of takes away from the impact of the situation.

We'll just have to wait and see, I s'pose.

It's been a while since I've read The Long Halloween, did it give any mention as to why Bruce was attending the hearing? Either way, it can easily be explained, much how I did earlier, if the need were ever to arise.

I think having him scarred at the court room just isn't doing it for me. I think probably at like a famous Wayne party celebrating Dent as the new DA and one of the thugs screams at him and throws the acid or something. I just have not been a fan of it happening in a courtroom.

Well it always seemed if you don't want to be prosecuted and have more charges against you. You do not throw acid on the prosecuting attorney. You could do it someplace where you could get away like a party or have a goon do it. I just always think of Batman Forever and that cheesy scene with Tommy Lee and Batman jumping over benches.

i think its going to be a coin given to him by someone, maybe bruce wayne

You're right, but I guess the point was to ruin Harvey's defining moment. It was a public humiliation, and Maroni already had the odds stacked against him.

I totally agree with the fact that in the courtroom isn't doing anything for me. I can picture Dent drowning his sorrows after losing the election in the bar, he looks up and finds the Joker, Maroni, someone and then BAM. A beautiful makeover courtesy of Hyrdochloric Acid.

But seeing as this is a thread on the coin, I think anything other than the two headed half dollar just wouldn't work. The bold LIBERTY on it just screams of irony.

Thats why I think it would be more appropriate when he is giving a speech or something to his supporters for him running for DA. Especially if it was being aired live. Similar to how Joseph Chill was killed.
